From what I saw on Nostalrius and other private servers, most people seem to take 8-10 days of played time to go from 1 to 60. It was much more of a grind than current WoW. Questing then was also sparse and had much more downtime. Nowadays, most quests only take a couple minutes to complete.

The next expansion will be like Cataclysm, in that the entire world will be redesigned. This time, because the Legion won and took out all of the capital cities. Many zones are also corrupted by fel, so a lot of wildlife has become more aggressive and green. Anduin, however, has been able to stay alive and has travelled across the world to bring together all of the Horde and Alliance under one united force. Your character has also been brought to this group.
There are plenty of places in the world to build a new city, a single sanctuary for your united group to stand against the Legion. As the hero of the Broken Isles, Draenor and all that shit, you are tasked with the construction and management of this city, handling its defences against the continuous Legion assault. With enough resources, you can even start to build cities in the other places you could've chosen, gaining more rewards as you take out more and more of the Legion. Only after building and maxxing out all of these cities can you take part in the final zone, where a particularly powerful Naaru has been enslaved by the Legion. The final raid has this Naaru become corrupted by fel, but by smacking it with weapons hard enough, you knock the fel out of it and it becomes an almighty force against the Legion across all of Azeroth

I picked memebringer but I'm now almost 104 and regret it a bit. Does it get better when I get the combo points talent, or should I cut my losses and start leveling prot weapon?

Truth be told, not really. Most of the important warriors in Warcraft lore wield big two handed weapons.

For prot, Anduin Lothar's shield would definitely have worked. However, his sword is busted and Turalyon has what's left of it.

I think the AP received from the treasures give more depending on how much AP you've received in total. It's designed so that you'll just use the AP when you get it and not worry about saving it up.

It depends on many things, including how serious your guild is if you're play with one. Your question will invariably get different answers because for most casual shitters that don't bother with mythic difficulty and trashcan players that get carried just healing is all you need.
But eventually once you get acquainted with a specific boss you'll find openings where little raid damage is going on and your extra globals are best spent adding a bit of extra damage, usually that happens in the beginning of the fight/when heroism/bloodlust/time warp is activated.

MoP was good as fuck, overall an extremely nice experience. WoD was pretty much unfinished from launch, everything outside of the innital Tenaan opening is pretty bad in retrospect.

Currently, the only zone that feels incomplete is Stormheim, I had pretty much 0 context on the whole sylvanes thing from ally side. Horde vs Ally thing seems tacked on, everything else about it was good tho.

Aszuna was nice, but it isnt amazing. It's just pretty nice, i have no problems with it, and I like the southern questing, really liked the giant slave quest chain. The whole tidepool aesthetics are fucking beautiful too.

HM is godly, i love everything about it, lore is amazing, story is solid, and the aesthetic is comfy as fuck.

Val'sharah is pretty fucking nice too.

Legion has the best leveling content to date imho with only a few flaws in story flow.
