Depending on the circumstances they frequently won't even try because the A.I. knows they literally cannot even hurt you, and even in the marginal cases they can, yeah, but it's not WORTH it and you win the trades so badly that it's impossible to lose basically.

I wouldn't say that. I found it nearly impossible to approach the left side of Ch 25 without dealing with the Lunge Automatons. The Swordmasters were smart enough not to engage me even if I was in range of them, until I was close enough for a Automatons to try and Lunge me as well. I pretty much had to use a few Freezes to put a stop to both (since there were two Automatons).

Something I did for the rape cave was to put Effie paired with arthur with a hand axe and Camilla behind her on that corridor in the middle part also with a hand Axe. Most enemies flocked to Camilla because they could hurt her since Effie had more def. However they did like 2 damage and camilla killed on attack stance. This stalled that side long enough for the top group with Xander to arrive and wipe everything.

I never even used him in Conquest Hard, though that's because I already had a magic user (me, with a Levin Sword). I figure if I need a magic user it'd probably be him but he always seems slow to me and you already have a slow brother who could use the extra speed (Xander).
