It kind of depends, but try at least 100 and then scale it back and see what works for you. I found 92 worked for most pve and 96 for pvp for me.

I think there's a big disconnect between what they think PvP is and what it actually is.

They expect it to be, "oh man this game is so hard, I really need an ember, I guess I have to invade someone just to get it", but what it really is is, "well I beat the game, time to make a PvP character perfectly tuned to fuck people in the ass at with the tippest top shit I can get within a specific level range"

Invaders have every advantage already, making them able to estus is going overboard. I didn't even like that invaders could pop manatees and shit back in DaS1. And I'm the one who's usually doing the invading, so it's not butthurt speaking here.

Returned to DaSII today for my second playthrough ever. At first I hated it a lot less because the world was a lot more beautiful than I remembered it (ultra linear and uninspired DaSIII would do that to ya; at least DaSII is original and doesn't rely on fan service).

But then... the combat. Goddamn it feels like shit. It just, feels like complete fucking shit. It feels so fucking gross omg. I still hate this game and DaSIII is ultimately better. DaSII combat feels fucking impotent, sludgy and unsatisfying. Gross game. Sage.

Yes,because the Chosen Undead has no innate power of their own or any avatar in-game and all that he can do is decided by how players can use said Chosen Undeads. People have beat NK while fatrolling and NK/SoC is essentially what Prime Gwyn probably would be like NK/SoC in DS3.

I feel like the DLC bosses are the only ones that really delivered on the sort of balls to the wall all out offense gameplay style I had kind of expected from the game. Too many of the main game bosses were just pushovers to aggression or gimmicky stuff like Amygdala that forces you to wait. Just having solid brick walls of meat that keep you on your toes and fight back as you go at them made the DLC so satisfying (except Maria).

I remember when one of the first guides for finding Stone Giant armor came out, and you could always spot the guide readers by their Giant set, Drakesword, and Knight Shield.

Question, /dsg/. I've beaten the PS4 version of DS3 a couple times now, and moved on to the PC version. I have a mule on PS4 version with all items, and a friend does too, and we'd dupe items for each other to make cosplay builds and the like.

I want to redo my Reina (Fire Emblem Fates) build on PC, and some of the gear for it is pretty lategame.

If I use cheat engine offline and then go online afterwards, so long as I didn't do anything bonkers, will I get banned? I just want to get the gear and maybe embers. No hacking tons of souls or infinite HP or whatever.

Dark Souls 2 could've done imo better if it had dropped some of those references and focused on delivering it's own side story with the Fragments of Manus or whatever. I like to think that Drangleic was actually one of the Kingdoms mentioned in Dark Souls 1 and it probably was. I at least think the Kingdom of Balder went on to be something since the symbol in the Balder shield looks a whole lot like the symbol of a spirit tree seen in DS2 and 3.

Also, I think that Cathedral of the Deep might've been Thorolund originally.

DS2 is full of this trash. All DS2 events occur because of the influence of major DS1 antagonist. Its own, original pieces of lore are a badly written crypic garbage that leads nowhere and fails to create a semblance of cohesive setting. It feels like a tasteless fanfiction. Meanwhile DS3 continues DS1's themes directly without "or perhaps...." in every second item description.

Is it a BB sequel because of the Age of the Deep Sea, or a Demon Souls sequel because of the storm ruler?

I'm fine with past shit coming back. Patches is a bro. But straight up rehashing old shit without building upon it (and in some cases ruining it like Seigmeyer v Seigward) is ass every time.

For example, Old Demon King and all those dieing demons is fantastic. Building on old shit, the chaos fire is going out.
Aldrich and Anal Rodeo archers just feels like some hack smashing Bloodborne and DS1 together and calling it a day. Even after you kill P.Sully and Aldrich, you'll never save Gwyndolin so he can talk about what happened and Yorshka will never leave the prison tower.

The Giants in DaS2 essentially have magic that counts as grenade launchers. There's no need for guns when magic essentially achieves the same thing and even more. PS4 release, ESPECIALLY the JP release was the most active I've seen in souls. Everyone was playing together for the first time so everyone was in a massive movement forward through the game.

Basically, explosion of signs all at once everywhere. The 2 hours after Pontif was first reached, and people beat him, was the most insane Aldritch invasions ever. Every single persons game was like a 6 man free for all of chaos, poor hosts had no idea what was going on.

PC release, on day 1, when I got to the area after pontif was absolutely polar opposite. Dead as fuck all day, PC players were all guide reading and having watched streams for weeks before hand had all glitched to get silver serpent ring and were all like 30 levels higher than they should have been at all times. People were beating pontif at like SL60+ on PC which was super fucked up.

My most recent playthrough on pc saw invasions all throughout the game, including a pair of watchdogs and a purple who lost 3v1 to Godrick while I hid in the deep water. I didn't keep count but I was invaded at least once in almost every single area of the game. I made the mistake of fingering crucifixion woods on my second path through and was stuck there, facing an endless stream of invading watchdogs, reds and purple for about an hour and a half before I finally kicked the bucket and went through unembered.
