You get to use 2pak. The amulet changes are kind of lame, but you get to play with new amulets and a lot of quality of life changes to a bunch of gods and new monsters to splat to. In general, the hardest part to get used to is the amulets but I think you'll be quick to realize that they never really added much to the table. (outside of zigs anyway. And rip warding, my lost love). Its worth updating for 2pak alone though. He was something special, and 18 as a whole felt like a great time to do a lot of evocations builds. They've ruined that in trunk.

They disabled him until he can be balanced more properly. He probably shouldn't have ever made it into stable, but he is worth an ascension. They've since nerfed everything that enabled him as well. No more bolt wands to recharge and abuse with water, and no more invis wand. Bobs and spiders aren't as good. Rods are back to being rare AF since you can't really acquire them anymore, with some of them removed. Bad feels all around. Old 2pak trunk legitimately felt like a weaker Tome4 character with all the shit they could pull instead of a crawl character. Definitely deserved the nerfing though, the evo build was way too easy and strong to get into.

I don't think you can balance 2pak the way you could potentially balance trog. You can't fix 70% infinite paralyze on a whole 3 rune. You essentially had 3 wands that could do the same effect (enslave/confuse/paralyze), so you had a very high chance of getting 1 of them. Not to mention how abusrdly strong bob's, spiders and rods are, and how you'd get them for free. As much as I loved 2pak, he is kind of inherently broken. It doesn't take much to put him over the top, and it can be as simple as having infinite teleports or as degenerate as infinite hastes/HW with rod of shadows and clouds. Trog is busted for different reasons, but I don't think he'd be nearly as good if you just took away the berserker backround.

Tomb, Hell or Pan? Tough choice.

I have rN++ on a switchable giant club; exactly one !resistance for Lom Lobon; casting Haste/DMsl/Aura of Abjuration reliably with staff of wizardry. Blurry vision 3 is very bad, but trying to cure it could take away my Dex+4 and that would hurt my EV. Dodging is already close to 15, so I was wondering about working towards cBlink instead. Statue is nowhere to be found.

If Crawl was all I had access to as a child in terms of roguelikes I probably would become one of those crazy fanboys, but thankfully I had access to Elona from very early on in my youth years that my mental balance is very stable.

Seriously, if you have taken the little girl as you're waifu and impregnated her, you’d realize just how sophisticated Elona is and it blows away anything Crawl would have to offer.

A lot of people mention the grinding, which has just enough of sexuality in the mix to draw in the western audience I suppose but I must say that the grinding is not even in my top 10 things to do in Elona, not even close, that’s just how deep the world of Elona is.

Elona is so disturbingly mature that I wish it would challenge the system and submit it as a real roguelike in /rlg/ just to bitchslap the snotty MiBe babbies.

It’s not just the level of maturity and sophistication Elona has, it’s also quite original, entertaining, and visually fantastic. I would regard Elona as the highest form of roguelike art-form.

But hey, me preaching about Elona won’t do you any good, you gotta go out and see it for yourself just how much you are missing.

The recent one I would recommend to check out is Juere Warrior which is light and easy to get into Elona for the first time yet appreciate it as much, but if you want the heavy stuff right off the line check out Snail Wizard in which the grinding is so complex and twisted that you’ll need extra oxygen pumped into your brain in order to comprehend everything, and if you want amazing visuals and a gripping drama you should gene engineer you'reself the perfect waifu.

Well I was gonna go for 15 runes, but I made the mistake of trying Tomb before Pan and Hell. (In my defense, I've made that order work twice before.) Tomb made me quaff my magic potion reserves like an alcoholic at an open bar. When my forays into Pan weren't helping me restock, I decided to bank the easy 6-rune win so I could cross DD off my to-do list.

Remove the sustain attributes effect
The ring in particular would only rarely be used to help compensate for a few
sources of particularly large amounts of stat drain (generally mummy death
curses and CBoE/Wucad Mu usage). With the ring gone, the effect just remained
on Demigods and the orange crystal plate unrand, and in both cases doesn't seem
sufficiently interesting or integral to their designs to merit keeping such a
niche effect around.

Slightly toned down a few of the higher-tier sources of stat drain to partially
compensate for cases where it might have been more often used.

Rock kilns are pretty cheap early on for letting you mass produce charcoal from crowbarred fences and smashed furniture. In down time laying some shallow pits/pits helps with zombie master/hulk hordes. Boarding up windows/doors and moving/building fridges and bookcases lets you create a somewhat safe 3x3 inside a city as your central hoard. You can even make a proper raising gate for driving in/out easily while otherwise being unconcerned with hordes and survivors being able to smell/hear you.
