I just completed Nargacuga S set to play SnS, now going to make Ceanataur's too. Once I fully upgrade those, what do I go for? Is there something between those and Dreadqueen Rathian?

In reference to the last thread, why do people compare Apex to Deviants? If you want to compare like terms, compare Apex to Hypers and Deviants to Subspecies. The formers techniques are hitzone based and the latter are a mutation of a specie.

I think people avoid this argument because they cant make an argument for Hypers being better than Apex, because Hypers are the laziest monster types made. Power up a monsters appendage without detailing the extra lore and call it a day. Also people cant argue for Deviants being better than other Subspecies because you dont have to fight Tigerstripe Zamtrios 30 times for fully upgraded armor, his armor has slots, and you arent discouraged to clownsuit because of Soul abilities.

So in the end people make a half baked argument for Deviants being better than Apex when thats comparing apples and oranges.

I dont have a problem with fullsets competing with Mixed, but I personally always felt that Mixed should have the edge getting a little more for the extra effort involved in tying it all together.

When a single fullset can easily blow out any other mixed one to the point that its not worth trying to make one for a particular weapon like Dreadking with Hammer or SWNarg for SA, its an issue (to me, anyway).

Maybe I'm just being an autist, but while fullsets should be easier to get and have a good set of skills for something, they shouldn't be the end-all for a weapon type when it comes to min-maxing

I dont find Hyper fun or engaging like Apex. Its mechanic is shallow and braindead. Hit the flashy spot to charge up your hunter art and avoid it when its attacking. There was nothing more to it, lore didnt even redeem it. On the other hand I felt like I was fighting an Apex predator when fighting Apex monsters. It works for the reasons Hyper doesnt. It makes you think.

And I used TS Zamtrios as an example. Building subspecie armor didnt carry so much restriction for what is mostly a mediocre set. Unless you are building Dreadking or Silverwind, HR armor is simply superior. Why should I waste the time on it?

I determined I do not have the autism required to play with the RNG until I luck out and get a good time. If I could choose where I start on the map, then I can guarantee a sub 2:30 time every attempt. The only way to do sub 2min (and I tried) is to cheat. Before, Gunners could do stuff other weapon classes simply had no access to. The big king hitters, Clust and Crag, were unique. Even without them they held up (LBG less so)

Now you have GS charges and Wyvern Fire and AED and ED and Arts and any weapon can basically perform as well as them with better armour and without the need to dick around with ammo.
