There are 6 officers and a captain, who each have a separate screen on which they run their system, whether that's Navigation plotting courses and speeds, or the Science Officer, identifying the shit you see out in space. The captain has only one display, on which he controls nothing. Instead, he must verbally give orders to the crew. He also has the only screen that shows the exterior of the ship in full detail. It's a good time.

So /aceg/, how good are you guys at recognizing aircraft? Probably pretty good from pictures, right?

How about from a WEFT description?

Wings. High-mounted, semidelta with angular, blunt tips

Engine(s). Two mounted in the rear. Diagonally-shaped, box-like air intakes alongside the fuselage. Dual exhausts.

Fuselage. Long, pointed nose and a bubble canopy. Large, box-like center section that tapers slightly to the front and rear.

Tail. Two fins with tapered leading edges, straight trailing edges, and square tips. Flats mid-mounted on the fuselage, swept-back, and tapered with angular, blunt tips, and a large sawtooth in the leading edges.

What's that aircraft?

Whenever I'm presented a choice between a fictional world with made up names for places and events, or Erf, I will ALWAYS pick the former, because the latter is boring and samey.

>DA RUSHINS ARE ATTACKING

All these made up forces, shell corporations, alliances, organizations, countries, fucking meticulously crafted geometry-- it beats the fucking shit out of anything else.

Superweapons that employ lasers and orbital stations, bombing yourselves out of pure hatred... Fuck! In the distant Ace Combat canon, we even have complicated AI programs like Nemo that have personalities of their own. Sure Electrosphere took place entirely in a simulation, but that didn't detract from the experience, and the sheer character that the series as a whole exudes.

Assault Horizon can kiss my ass. Infinity is better about it, but not by too much, since its basically just a Shattered Skies remake.

6, definitely. Auto Dog fighting, while fast paced and cool in concept, is basically.just a simplified QTE with some matter of control. You're way better off just getting 6 and getting into the Strangereal lore.

So far the handfull of VR games that had the balls to use the third person camera were all praised for it as something that was incredibly fun and interesting, it would work the same way it works in any other game, you're not inside the player but rather the camera, its not exactly a difficult concept to comprehend so I'm not sure what you expect me to say when you ask "how would that even work"

The Answer was the F-15.

Warcrimes and the anon who guess Strike Eagle were the only ones right. For everyone who wept guessing MiG-31:

Wings High-mounted and swept-back with square tips and a negative slant. Four underwing pylons.

Engine(s). Two turbofans in the fuselage. Rectangular and diagonal cut air intakes on sides of the fuselage. Exhausts extend beyond the tail plane.

Fuselage. Rectangular from the intakes to the exhausts. Long, pointed nose. Bubble canopy.

Tail. Fins back-tapered with angular tips and canted outward. Flats swept-back and tapered, mid- to low-mounted on the body.

How could you not tell who was behind these posts? Who else has instant access and very close familiarity with these craft both online -and- IRL? Plus, who else talks like that?

I wonder what'll be Kono's excuse this time.
>>
>>153351618
Well, the other thing about game development is that putting out demos and shit while also devving the game proper can basically be like working on two builds of the game at the same time. Honestly, if we didn't see -anything-, the game would come out faster, which is objectively better for consumers, given how different demos and trailers can be from gameplay. But having demos and trailers increases exposure and therefore the odds that a customer spends their money on the game, so they're kinda a necessary evil.
>>
>>153327507
Imagine for a moment that the description had said high-mounted wing, the same way I read it. Suddenly, that description is nearly a dead ringer for the phantom. Not only is that post an excellent opportunity to say "lol guess who's posting this," it's also topical because f-4. So imo it's pretty obvious that i wanted it to be true so i kinda fooled myself.
>>
>>153352649
Nowadays you don't really need gameplay in a trailer, not that it's a good thing, but they could scrap somethings together to give us a feel of the story. I'd be satisfied with a trailer that focuses on strangereal's timeline leading up to the main conflict of the game. Its the build up that counts.

You realize that making a trailer also consumes the time of your animators and writers and such, right?

I just had this dream last night.

>Playing an ace combat game
>Take off in a Tomcat, no wingmen in sight
>Area of operations is a wide body of water with some islands, during dusk
>Not sure what the mission is exactly, but the map says I gotta bag some charlies to the northeast
>On second look, the map is actually littered with radar detection bubbles, similar to those from 5
>Full throttle ahead, find the first bogey
>He's piloting an F-15 ACTIVE
>So are the other 200 bogeys that showed up right after him
>Fuckfuckfuckfuck
>Dodging endless missiles while avoiding radar bubbles like a disoriented motherfucker
>So many TGT icons in the map, I can barely see the radar bubble areas
>Pinned down, decide to fly low near the water below
>Suddenly "MISSION UPDATE"
>AWACS speaks outta nowhere
>"Large enemy craft detected in your AO!"
>What the fuck I'm not seeing anything
>Turn left, still near water-level
>See a huge fucking H-4 Hercules taking off from the water
>FLYING STRAIGHT AT ME
>Panic and break to the side, barely evade crashing into it
>Its attacks revolve around flying straight at me until I crash into it
>While I'm still being swarmed by F-15 ACTIVEs and evading radar bubbles

Did PA just send visions of how AC7 is gonna be like through my dreams?

>>
>>153382979
Pudding escapes me for this event this time. And switch out +2 AA +1 ACC for +1 FP, nah. Unless it'll get me better trigger rate, not having BOFORS and FuMO to go along with it kinda limits my options for Maya.

Wings: Mid Mounted, swept back tapered and with blunt tips.

Engine(s): 1 turbojet located inside body. Semioval diagonal cut intakes in the leading edges of the wings. Large single exhaust.

Fuselage: Long Barrel shaped with sharply pointed nose. Fuselage tapers to the midsection and flares out to the exhaust.

Tail: Swept-back and tapered tail fin with a blunt tip. Flats mounted low on body. Swept back, tapered. and with blunt tips. Central belly fin.

Unless I remember my Arthurian legends wrong, the fact that Mordred always wanted to be better than Arthur, but ended up getting killed by him in the end after his betrayal kind of make sense too.
