They can't afford or are unwilling to make as many maps so maps and competitive play is more popular so maps have to be viable for competitive play for most part.
There's also probably way more people participating in design of map along with loads of playtesting and such so you get conservative garbage. Nobody these days would let a couple programmers/modellers say "let's make map of two ships next to each other" it would be "okay that can be back drop of map but let's design map so it plays 'better'" then you jsut get another similar map to all the rest.

So is anyone else loving firefight but wishing it was a bit more balanced?

Some matches are extremely easy enemies with no troubles; other times they are moderately difficult but achievable. However, then sometimes if the game places 2 or more Warden Eternals, people become cheap with their REQ packs and we lose. Or sometimes it is 4 Mantis' and we can't do shit against them.

Otherwise it seems like a fun spin on an old game type (matchmaking for it, more players, and there is a point to beating it)

For the people asking about achievements, you're guaranteed at least 2370 Halo GS if you complete Halo 3, ODST, Reach, 4, and Guardians solo on legendary. That's assuming you get no skulls or other easily achievable things that may come naturally, so you'll probably end up with closer to 3,000.

This doesn't include Halo Wars, Halo CE Anniversary, MCC, or any of the Spartan assault/strike games, so there's another several thousand there.

If you look at the body shot vs headshot AR clip from this video you they both take 25 frames to break shields from first shot fired. Shield damage is uniform across body.

I just don't like how most of weapons become worthless on legendary.
On glassed they hid/put power weapons and stuff around the map but they're basically crap compared to just spamming suppressor with a br or light rifle.

Well if it's worth anything i'll post the other webm. In this one it takes 8 shots in the foot and chest to deplete the shield. When shooting at the head, the 8th shot goes through the shield and does a headshot. Pretty sure it's been like this since CE and how it is right now in Halo 5.
In conclusion shield damage is the same anywhere with any weapon except the last shot which should me aimed at the target's head.

Adding on, my only thought would be if H5 does have the bleedthrough effect they purposely tweaked damage numbers so it doesn't impact precision weapon shots to kill. A way to test this would be to compare 4 magnum body shots to drop shields and then count number of smg bullets to finish the kill then do 4 magnum headshots. If the 4th headshot bleeds through a little bit it would result in less smg bullets needed. If bleed through is less than a single smg bullet it might as well not exist.

Precision weapons don't have bleedthrough, only the BR gives the illusion of this by firing multiple bullets. It was like this in Halo 4, too. An easy way to test is to set damage numbers all the way up. Something like an AR will one-shot, but a Magnum won't.

I don't think so. It makes your bullets arbitrarily do less damage for no reason. There's even less of a reason for the shots to not bleed now that health is visible. It's frustrating to see someone's shields just barely start to recharge and you still have to 2-shot him because he has 1HP of shields after the incredibly short recharge delay.
