Is Guard Up worth using as a Lance user?
I'm rolling the Drilltusk set and seeing as it comes with Guard +2, I thought I'd maximize my guarding abilities, but I don't know how much Guard Up brings to the table.

It's all about using striker with absolute evasion + readiness and enraged guard and charging a lot. GaijinHunter invented it, it's called absolute evade lancing. The charge finisher has a stupidly high motion value.

There is an "ultimate" set of armor relating to each of the 4 towns after doing a fuckton of villager requests(Ancient = Bherna, Master's = Kokoto, Black = Pokke, Toka = Yukumo). There is plenty of information on getting the Toka armor since it's more or less the best out of the 4, but I still want the Master's armor because it looks really cool. And besides, fashion hunting is all that really matters in the endgame right?

Oh and I would never save edit if there was a way to guarantee that you get a charm that you want, i.e. Dump focus charms into melding pot and after 1k or something you get your focus 5 000. Basically have charms be upgradeable and worth some amount of points for exchanging. I don't want to spend a week running coal hearted just to have nothing to show for it. Rare monster drops are fine in my opinion because they are obtained from actual hunting, I didn't even mind relic farming since I actually got to kill something. If I want to play a mining game I'll play Minecraft.

I think that is the main problem with charm farming.

It is 100% RNG. You can't just "work towards" something or gradually improve your odds of getting what you want. Nothing.

You could farm 1000 charms and have the same odds of finding what you want the next run.

It sucks hard.

You could make a point system where each skill point is worth some points and each slot is worth some points and after you combine enough points you can generate the charm you want. You could even lock generation of three slot charms behind some crazy difficult quest like Rajang and Jho in the arena at the same time, and have quests for unlocking each skill to generate, kind of like what you do for palico skills now.

I had to disable windows defender to download it because its supposedly a trojan but I havent noticed anything weird running on my computer so I doubt its actually a problem. Just load your save, go to the bottom of the list and add new charms, they will show up in your box after you inject the save back onto your card. I was surprised at how easy it all is, takes 5 mins once you figure it out.

Agreed, hyper monsters don't feel terribly different to regular monsters. I don't know how I feel about hyper parts being quest rewards rather than carves, but I guess it cuts down on RNG a bit and I've never felt like it's particularly punishing.

And yeah it should look cooler, it is pretty ugly. I guess what I meant was I prefer it as a means of progression over "apex form go xDDD bounciee" or "kill over 9000 rathians for 70 plates/rubies/mantles". Feels less RNG gated imo.

I'm in C8 and I'm still shit
why am I not improving? I've forgone multiplayer entirely to try and learn how to not be carried by other people yet I still get shat on by a fucking lagombi. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I can't play conservatively because I'll just get bored and sto playing or time out, I can't play aggressively because I get interrupted in my slow ass swagaxe combos, I can't mount because that's not really possible most of the time, I can't abuse iframes because I can't get narcaguga parts because najarala is a fucking annoying boss to fight with swaxe, and I can't learn any other weapon. I tried using hammer to teach myself positioning, but its too fucking slow 100% of the fucking time, it has no goddamn reach, its too fucking slow, requires me to be inside a monsters eye for a hit to register unless I'm charging up to level 2, its really fucking slow and it doesn't cut tails. Did I mention its slow as fuck?

I tried using DB but I can't stick to a fucking monster at all without using the spin dash, which eats meter like a mother fucker, and I can't use demon dance because demon mode eats all of my fucking stamina and there aren't many windows of opportunity to fucking use it, with its long ass un-cancelable animation. I get fucked by wind pressure and tremor fucking constantly because archmode doesn't have any fucking armor.

Gunlance is just fucking terrible. I wanted to be good with it, but its just fucking clunky. There is no redeeming quality to it at all. It's slow, its cumbersome, it doesn't even do that much damage. Fuck, with monsters running all over the fucking place how am I supposed to keep up? Sheathe? Not with that slow ass draw speed.

I tried using great sword but against monsters like rathalos I can't fucking get close. Fucker is always in the air and the moment I get to his tail he fucking turns directions or flies away. The charge is slwo as fuck without focus so I can't even snipe when I succesfully read.

I'm trying as hard as I can to improve both in real life and in this fucking game, and I can't. It's supposed to be "Struggle, challenge, rise only to struggle again" not a fucking battle of attrition. I want to be good at this. I want to get good hunting times, I want to use the weapons I like. I want to kill fucking monsters and look cool doing it. But I can't, and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Positioning myself properly seems fucking fruitless if the monster just attacks and puts me on defense. Anklebiting means I can't break parts, which means I can't get most items/ decent kill times. I tried using the fucking arena for practice, too, and I just get fucking dunked on with "new" attack patterns, like zamtrios doing nothing but spinning 3 times in a row, or jumping right on top of me, staggering me and spinning if I try to run away.

I don't fucking get it. No matter what I try, what playstyle I adapt, what weapon I use, what fucking strategy I develop, I'm either subpar or a failure. What the fuck am I supposed to do? Why can't I succeed in this fucking game?
