Is Astro+whm viable is A7S and A8S, or even A5S or A6S? If not, why?

I have a friend with no savage experience (who loves astro) who insists astro is as good as a sch and whm+astro will be fine in savages because an astros regen is as good as whm and an astros shield is as good as sch, so it's like both in one.

I only have a whm so I can't argue why sch is better (despite every a7 and a8 savage almost always having sch+whm). I noticed succor has 150 potency and astro's aoe shield has 150+120% of amount healed, so at first glance it looks like astro's AOE heal is a tad better without traits/CDs.

Why is sch considered essential for shielding but astro isn't?

Aspected Helios takes 0.5 seconds longer to cast, so it's strictly worse health/second than Succor, though the shield is stronger. Still no match for a deployed adlo though.
Aspected Benefic on the other hand has 30 less combined total potency than Adlo, though it's instant.

AST also has worse MP management and lower damage compared to SCH. They work just fine as a WHM replacement but they can't really do the same for SCH.

Is spamming POTD Floors 1-10 the best way of doing the 46-50 grind? It's insta-queues, 15 mins, no waiting for anything to spawn, gives a 1/4th of a level, and literally no chance of fucking it up at all.

PoTD 1-10 can be done in 10 mins. 10-20 in 15. It gives a good chunk of XP. A Dusk Vigil run takes on average 30 minutes and gives 400k XP at 51. I think 1-10 Only gives 100k, but not sure. I'll go check after this post.

An individual healer/tank's parse is almost always irrelevant. The only thing that matters is the overall dps of the healers + tanks, since good tanks/cohealers enable healer dps and good healers enable tank dps

Balmung's a very social server regardless if you roleplay or not, a lot of player held events and chatty people. Has some bad apples from the vg crowd along with notorious ERPlords but they're easily avoidable since it's such a big server and they mostly gather in one spot. Can make decent raiding progression if you find a good static. They're rare but they're out there. Gilgamesh is the go-to if you're less interested in social stuff and more into raiding.

Balmung's a good choice then! it's a big server with a lot of people with different interests. Roleplayers, casual players, decent players that like progression and players that are new to raiding but willing to learn. Most Balmung players that post in this thread fall into the "I'm on Balmung but hate it everyone is bad" category, but those people pretty much only interact with other 4chan posters in a small pond and think it qualifies as the entire server community, so take that with a pinch of salt.

Sure! I didn't say they weren't. Balmung just has a bad reputation for housing bad players and being a bad server for raiding or clearing current primals which isn't necessarily wrong, servers like Gilgamesh are likely a better place for that. I'm just saying that the playerbase on Balmung is a mixed bag with a bit of everything due to the high population so you can find other players that are interested in raiding with decent skill levels if you're willing to dig around a bit!
