Moutain dew didn't push e-sports they just slapped whatever was popular at the time onto their cans and called it a day. They then went to the already big tournaments and sponsored them so they could get their name plastered all over the place. they never took the time to integrate themselves into any community instead just riding along the wave of popularity.

Redbull on the other hand funds events, fund tournaments, fund players and even does interviews with popular players. I mean if you go through the proper channels you can get your locals partially funded by red bull or at least get them to send out a promo guy.
