Someone make a 6 player SFV lobby

Any fighting game with a top tier grappler is an automatic Kusoge. Because the grappler is a very simple minded archetype. There's literally one gameplan, sometimes two at best, and they all boil down to the command grab that deals a gorillion damage. It's not fun to play against and it's not fun to watch because these characters dictate the pace of the match.

You should really just jump into Chrono Phantasm. Its not like CF is so different that everything you learned will change. Most of your B&Bs and the understanding of how to play neutral in the game will carry over 1 to1.

This is one of the problems with the anime/airdash players (myself included sometimes) we dont play our game because of a game that we dont even have access to which makes out numbers look even smaller than they already are are puts us out of practive when the new game hits.

They change the longer more optimal combos every single update but the short, sweet, easy B&Bs dont change. The sort of quick and easy combos you use when you're first starting out.

Even so it doesnt negate my point. The fact that the combos change every iteration is not a good enough reason to not play the game in anticipation of a game you cannot play, just because your most damaging combos will change.

in 7.0 it was generally awful, mostly used as a movement tool rather than an evasive tool. as in, you would rarely sidestep at range 0 except to move away from the wall or hard read a completely linear move like a jab.

in t7fr, it's back to being used as an evasive tool, so it's generally much more powerful. even as a movement tool it was extremely useful, since tekken is all about movement, but it was just not applicable to some situations that were common in 7.0, and it honestly made some characters way better than they should have been (kazuya, lili, ling, dragunov).

it kinda goes to show how such a small tweak in a single movement option can change so much in the game's pace and the way its played and how characters interact with such a change.

you can play any character any way you want, just to different extents and with varying degrees of reward. this is mostly thanks to the system and the generic movelist that every character is built from.

when you get down to the nitty-gritty, characters are very different and have tons of unique stuff to them, but understanding the game and its systems matters more than understanding a single character extensively.

so in that way, every character can be played the same by you, but some other player can play them and every other character completely differently. see: jdcr playing dragunov and heihachi the same way, but totally different from the way knee plays his heihachi or how nobi plays his dragunov (and how knee plays bryan the same as his heihachi or how nobi plays his steve the same as his drag). while they are masters of their mains, anytime they pick up a secondary, their playstyle doesn't change much, just their toolset changes and reward for playing that style.
