It's much harder to sell an image with filters than just copy past the same character with different hair color/eye color like what Winged Cloud does. You actually can't, because EVN devs are poor and have to either cut down the amount of assets or hire several different people or both. I want to point out that the effectivity of this is largely dependent on (other than the quality of the writing) on the culture of the reader. I remeber when Tiger & Bunny was airing, everyone on /a/ (westerners) knew the old guy would be the bad guy from pretty much the second he appeared, while most japs were honestly surprised.

I found some for an abandoned game that were in French from high school, as if someone was peeking over my shoulder at my char design for a zombie apocalypse otome going "Ah yes, Charles is scared of guns but his ending has him forced to shoot another survivor who's threatening to kidnap you. Did find some emotion lists and poses I worked up on tiny 3x5 sheets from last summer, though, and they were pretty cute and still useful. Probably because they were scribbled during my breaks so I couldn't fuck myself over on the details. Stuff like gestural drawings with "plays with hoodie string when lying or uncomfortable, [example pic], player could pick up on multi plays and realize it's foreshadowing/tells for X?" or the different poses the LIs would have to display the same emotion. Should do it again, I remember it being kind of relaxing/fun and deffo recommend for anyone else having problems with poses.
My favorite old drawings/notes are still the ones where I came up with different (basic) room designs based on the LIs' personalities for a game I've shelved indefinitely.

Everything I do note-wise is all on notebook paper though so none of it looks even close to professional char design shit. Keep all your old shit, though, even on shit paper and date it. Because months later if you find it it'll be fun for you to look through. And if you want to pad out extra content, having images of the development process is always a fun thing to have in the gallery.

It's hard for me to explain, but the basic idea is that the antagonist becomes more and more evident as you go along, the main character tries to figure out what the fuck is going on, and they eventually deduce that it must be this one person who was lying the entire time, which is a completely correct and logical deduction

But then it turns out that the person they thought was lying was actually not really in control of their actions and someone else caused the whole thing, but it's not as if this real antagonist is just someone I came up with on the spot in order to resolve plot points - the entire plot revolves around them and their actions, they just used someone else as a front to accomplish their goals

Personally I think it makes sense and isn't stupid

Time Hollow, Date Warp, Break Chance Memento, Ghost Trick

Ghost Trick really isn't a VN, though it has some story segments, but it's got better puzzles than the rest of those put together and it's a great game.
