It's not even good, even if SFV is FUCKING TERRIBLE that doesn't make other bad games good

Ken needs severe buffs. Chris T. ended up dropping him and is learning Balrog as per Smug's reccomendations. I'm not sure if anyone tuned in to Top 8 of Summer Jam but you could see how easy it is to bully Ken in this game. Ricky Ortiz literally just had the fierce punch on turbo mode and let Julio killed himself.

Ken is in need of buffs, at this point I'm not even sure why he's still in the game when Ryu exists. There is zero reason to pick Ken in this game in it's current state. Even Momochi dropped Ken briefly for Chun and went on for hours on stream discussing Ken's flaws, why he's inferior to Ryu, and why he believes Ken is about mid tier compared to everyone else, just barely better than the worst of the game (gief, laura, fang) and worse then the decent of the game (cammy, necalli, vega).

How does capcom go about buffing Ken in a way that doesn't making him broken?

I've been watching SFV and is when players get a stun off on the other guy, a lot of them seem to just use a random hit to break it instead of taking their time to set up a super long and damaging combo even when they have the time, why is this?

Why do people here hate so much on SFV? For just $60 you get great value, 12 iconic characters and 4 brand new ones, a new refreshing artstyle that makes it the best looking fighter of this generation and a shit ton of stages. The DLC is also fairy priced, just look at the season pass for example. For only 30 more bucks you get the 6 DLC characters which are already the price of the season pass plus their alt costumes and a stage. That's $62 for 30. How can anyone be dissatisfied?

The thing that irks me most about SFV is the discrepancy between how the devs think they've portrayed the game and how the game really is.

They said SFV is going to be a more honest, neutral based fighting game and therefore they added more wake-up options but then you get characters that are almost totally designed around wake-up vortexes and 50/50 situations like R. Mika.

They said they wanted to make the game more emphasised on neutral play and reactions, but there are lots of things in the actual game that goes against the neutral play and more on guessing and "hard reads" (8f input lag, stubby hitboxes, almost non-existant mid-range gameplay). The only thing they've been fair with the actual game is the fact that some tools have been either neutered or totally removed in order to lower down the execution barrier and make new players and more expert ones start together on a new level, but that also came with a big compromise which is the complete removal of any sign of creativity and different playstyles of the characters. SFIV had lots of stinky shit, and I'm glad that some of that bad stuff was removed in V, but at the same time there was more diversity in the playstyle of even the same character. I don't see that in SFV and I think it'll hurt the game so much in the long run (unless they really change some core stuff).

How is everyone liking the KoF demo?

Personally, as someone who plays a little of every fighting game, I am VERY impressed with how good it feels to move in this game. Bunny hops, dashes, and dodge rolls all feel natural and fluid. Cancels feel great as well. I honestly think movementwise, it is the best FEELING fighting game of this gen, even over Xrd Revelator.

I just wish the game looked a little better. Christ the character models look christ awful.

Overall, assuming the online works (at least better than fucking SFV) then I look forward playing this in August. I was honestly expecting the jankiest of games, but this is clearly far from it.

Why does SFV look so terrible? On a graphical level I mean. It's by far the worst looking fighting game released the last couple of years. MKX, Tekken, Guilty Gear and even KoF XIV all look miles better than SFV.

How alive's Revelator on PS3/PS4 right now?

I remember Xrd's matchmaking died pretty quickly. This is the best fighting game right now but it doesn't have players equally as terrible as me like SFV. EVen SFIV is still more alive than Xrd was before Revelator's release.

The fact that they've given you the options to run, dodge roll and hop(not only hop but to do hyper versions of hops and jumps) made KoF, very fluid and makes the gameplay dimension ever changing, making critical thought very important and zoning through range attacks very hard(with only King the notable character to be able to zone if you let her).

There are already positive discussions about the netplay, specially with the party mode in where six players can play at the same time controlling one character and that lag is pretty much non-existant in said mode. I am sure SNK will iron out the only few creases that rank matches have because if they dont then shit will fly to the fan pretty fast... and they know it.

ow much does Capcom regret the PC port now? The game hasn't even sold 200k. And PC players are probably too smart not to have used the round 1 mod by now killing all prospects of selling DLC. And they had to have their own servers for crossplay which is the cause of so many issues with the game.

I remember combofiend at EVO saying PS4 was the only way to play SFV barely even recognizing the PC version as existing.

Well it's been awhile since I last played since I've been caught up in other stuff and getting mad trying to learn KoF. However you should be able to find games. Ranked is just still pretty wank, but player rooms are still easy to find and players in the online lobby just to go up and play with on the cabinets in the room.

Good news though is that with the Fall update the numbers will jump up again. ESPECIALLY if they're adding another character in that update.

I mean, look at the bullshit they're pulling with Nostalgia Costumes. It's the same story. First, they give you something you don't want (colors behind a bullshit gamemode/ugly new costumers for beloved characters). Then, they wait for fan backlash (survival too hard!/Ibuki looks boring!). Then, they swoop in with bullshit story about how "they've listened to the fans!" and "have the solution!" but the solution is a fucking DLC pack to ring the fans for even more money.

I paid $60 for this game. I knew it was unfinished, I knew it was rushed, but I still bought it because it looked like Capcom had changed. Cross play. Simultaneous PC release. Most importantly, there wasn't going to be a SSFV. Characters could be bought by playing. I knew I'd have to pay if I wanted them all, but as a 1-3 character kind of guy, it seemed like a hell of a deal in comparison to the $120+ you'd have to had paid to keep up with every version of SFIV. And, it still is, but everything Capcom has done up until that point has proved to me that they haven't changed.

You want to know the real reason why I bought SFV? I bought it because Street Fighter has always been the fighting game "everyone plays". In a genre with so few players, you simply cannot afford to be playing a game that's dead on arrival. I play Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- PC with the same 20 people I see every time I hop online. It doesn't matter how much Xrd has proven to be a better fighting game than SFV - it's boring playing a dead game. I just wanted to play a fighting game that wasn't dead. Now, I hope SF dies as soon as possible.

How do you feel about the fact SFV is specifically designed for people who don't get specific aspects of a fighting game? Looking at stuff like the input delay and how un-rewarding are AA options I feel like the game is trying to punish the more skilled players for the more random-y unwilling to learn and jumpy newcomer. I think the EVO Top 8 kind of showed this issue of the game. You see lots of players jumping around like crazy and it's simply because that's how the game is designed. Is it a good design choice to privilege the newcomer or the weaker player giving him un-reactable options in order to stand a chance against a player that actually gives a shit about fighting games?

Probably the best Marvel out there, great system that forces the attacker to think how to continue the pressure going or at least to not give a lot of Meter to the opponent. You can even play footsies with some characters (Parasoul and Filia works well with this idea).
Cons: very few good anime personalities; rarely happen to really like a character.

The simpliest modern fighting game overall. The smallest framelink in the game is 3f so its fairly easy if you have some experience. CAPCOM even decided to remove the most unique perks from the characters (Zangief lost the Green Hand; Ibuki lost 4 of her moves, including the only 2 anti-projectiles she had: Hien [421K] and Neckbreaker [236P]).
If you like simple mechanics like Super Turbo go for it, just don't expect awesome moments because they rarely happen. At least the online is the most active one actually for now.

The fighting game that isn't a fighting game besides being a fighting game. It works very different from the original concept that defines what is a "fighting game" after SF2 was released so if you look for something very unique I think its a good idea, even the combo system works reversely from what other games did (the more damage you have stacked the more hitstun/knockback you receive, being more open to some combos).
The problem is: with Melee you're fucked if you think you can enter the competitive scene in less than 1 year of hard training. With Sm4sh you must deal with a lot of strange people and drama if you wanna enter the tournament community so... I don't know, if you have a WiiU give it a utility before it dies.

I've been thinking, what even is the point of playing fighting games? First person shooters are so much better in every aspect. Population, recognition, career, respect, skill, fun. You see, a bad player in a competitive shooter will never, EVER win. Yet in fighting games a bad player can get away with acting totally random and in fact he is often rewarded for it. In no other game genre you have to learn how to deal with 'noobs' on top of learning the game, simply because every other genre is well designed and VS fighting is still stuck in the 90's. The saddest thing is, when a good game comes around the corner that dares to defy the common tropes that make the end product a bad game, like Skullgirls, it is coldly rejected for being "different". Gems get swept under the rug and we keep on playing the latest Crapcom game just because. That's why I decided to sell my fightpad for a pro gamer mouse and keyboard. I am going to invest time into Counter-Strike, Shootmania Storm and Battlefield, become proficient on these games, and make myself a name for myself. Maybe even integrate a team and play for real money. See you all on the other side, sooner or later, when this epiphany strikes all of you. In the meantime, go ahead, point at me, mock me. But know that I'm much happier than each and every one of the FG "C".

How does the damage scaling in KoF works? Is it different from each game or is it more or less the same in the entire series (or for the most part)?

I tried doing this bunch of variation of the same Kyo's BNB in KoFXIV and the results were quite weird to me:

1) cr.lk, cr.lp xx lk double kicks into command grab = 225 damage
2) same combo but adding the df.mk after the cr.lp = 242 damage (okay there);
3) same combo as (2) but using the mk version of the double kicks = 221 damage (???)

While the netcode is undoubtedly shit, could SFV's rage quiting problem be overblown? Many people will rage quit simply because their opponent is lagging, and given the nature of the netcode, one person experiences the lag whIle everything is fine on the other end. This could explain why people feel like they get cheated out of points all the time.

Neutral is a lot faster (and thus generally is over quicker than in other games) and there's a bigger focus on mixups because of how strong they are (so you also need good defense and match-up knowledge). How the fuck does a human being learn how to play Tekken? I attempted several times to learn but the combos are so fucking arbitrarily difficult
in Street Fighter and KoF, even in fucking anime games, combos make SENSE. You can FEEL what works, but in fucking Tekken it's fucking random what inputs result in what combo.
