It was a contest as part of the pokecapn Sonic 06 LP. One of the crew asked what color Tikal was so they asked the fans to describe it.

The comics are something I wouldn't recommend touching until you've played at least some of the games

As long as you can navigate the special stages good enough, sure. Remember, there's a blue UFO that appears when you are running out of time and if you hit it, you get extra time.

You should never read to focus on what it is and isn't cannon you should read for enjoyment.

My favorite SW comics aren't "canon" but I still get more out of them than any of the new shitty ones and most of the movies. The stories don't vanish, it's all fiction at the end of the day anyways so worrying about what pretend thing didn't pretend happen is silly. Stories exist in their own world and nothing can change that.

What was up with the flux of art style? Things went from deviantart to alright at random. Eggman would look super creepy and over detailed sometimes, and all the other Mobian's eyes would be freakish giant blobs.

I'm surprised that they are able to keep it a secret, but not so much that they're actually trying to do it. Under the normal release schedule, we wouldn't even get any news until about March next year, so it's still possible they'll do that then.

Also, they seem to be shifting PR attention to one franchise at a time. First it was all Boom, now it's all Classic. Hopefully Modern will get his time to shine as well.

People bring up the argument of how because they should just focus on getting Sonic right, I can understand focusing on the main gameplay style is important but personaly I think they could reuse some older styles and touch them up a bit:

Tails: Plays like Sonic in the Adventure era with a better camera.

Knuckles: I feel his treasure hunting stages from SA2 were fine, just the levels could be awkward. Either that or something that involves taking down enemies as you speed through.

Amy: A better and faster version of Lost World, a focus on platforming using acrobatics and smashing through enemies.

Well, I think familiar faces will work best. My first exposure to Sonic was Underground, so when I played the games, it's what I expected. The majority of buyers may expect the main game cast, and to toss in Sally and the others will be incredibly confusing unless they had a steady intro and datalog files.

Can't remember much, but I guess they were all like those human NPCs, asking you to do some optional quest for them. Overall, they all had reasons to come to Eggman's amusement park (Chaotix investigating, Rouge tricks Knuckles into coming over, Amy wants to go on a ride).
I just thought I find it amusing to see Sonic and Tails interacting with others and thought their reasons for being there is better than them being Sonic's cheerleaders.

Poor Shadow never gets to be the hero. I find Ow the Edge to be to Shadow as Advent Children and KH is to Cloud Strife. True, a lot of people ignore the comics, but he's so much more fleshed out and does a bit more than angst and shoot people.

While I do love Sonic's friends and wouldn't mind them being playable, I can't really think of a reason to have them be in the main game unless they just play like slightly different clones of sonic. If anything I think they'd work better having their own mini games, seperate quests, and being playable in multiplayer than actually being part of the main game. I say that because, if you don't like one of them or you hate a certain play style, it'd suck for you to have to play as one of them for like...1/4th of the game.

I don't think he's a bad character, and I enjoyed the Power type playstyle from Heroes. I think an expansion of that could work great form him and other characters like Knuckles or Omega.
