Acceleration like that is colloquially known as 'eyes in', as in your eyeballs are pushed towards the back of your head. That's good for simming a rocket ride.

Most forces experienced by a pilot in all maneuvers except straight line acceleration/deceleration are lateral or vertically orientated, which are not quite so easy to simulate continuously.

I imagine that it would eventually get very annoying, and you probably wouldn't want to play like that for more than an hour. It's the same problem I have with VR: It's far less tiring to press buttons and move a stick than it is to continuously pull a trigger, swing your arms around to aim an actual gun or swing an actual sword, and actually walk or run. That's why I don't think VR will ever replace conventional gaming even if we get full-fledged holodecks. I doubt it will even become the main form of gaming. People usually play games to relax and have fun, and doing physically-intensive stuff runs counter to that. It would be a novelty, like light gun games or something.

Hell, holodecks probably wouldn't completely replace any other form of media either. People say things like "Why would you listen to a recording of a song when you could see a live performance?", but the fact is that I don't always want to be at a concert and fully absorbed and surrounded by the experience. Sometimes I just want to simply listen to the song and maybe be able to do other stuff. Same thing with movies or anything else. The only conventional media that might go extinct is porn, but I'm not even sure about that.

An actual Idolmaster / Ace Combat crossover. You have to manage idols and produce their shows as a form of national propaganda, to increase support for your air force's war effort.

Good idol performances unlocks extra weapons special planes, and more reinforcements, poor idol performances will result in the public doubting the military, and close off some missions from being played, and eventually a non-standard peace treaty gameover.

They do all the Gundam games, so there's an obvious choice for a crossover.
