So I just got my n3DS (stock firmware was 9.9), followed the guide all the way up to 9.2.0 downgrade, downloaded all the correct files and did everything right. Started the downgrade process, everything went fine, then I got the Nintendo "an error has occurred" screen and now I can't access the home menu (can only hold down the power button to get to the "power off" screen).

Is this the fabled "very small chance" soft brick? Is there any way to save it, or do I have no other option but to recovery mode update to 11.0.0 and return it to store?

Are we still pretending that anyone has any interest in console hacking for anything besides piracy at this point? Surely it makes more sense to a developer to work on a platform that's open at all (IE android) let alone a platform that doesn't require breaking ToS, etc just to use. The Vita is actually a pretty good handheld in my opinion. It's only bad if your sole intention is to pirate Vita games. I've owned one for about 2 and a half years and had my fair share of PSP/PS1 exploits, emulators, psp homebrews and all that stuff along with actual vita games. Just give it sometime and you'll see how awesome the Vita, piracy is inevitable at this point, just a matter of time and should be happening sooner rather than later.

I'm attempting to use an R4 card with Wood v1.61 and a 2GB micro SD card on my 3DS with A9LH + Luma. I've tried just booting from the home menu and through TWL1 Slot Loader and both spit out 'An error has occurred'.
