They were plants on my planet, and there are pineapples hopping around. I guess the animals are plants here and the plants are animals. There's also the chill braincrabs.

My game's peaking fellas, just found my 48, paradise planet with no storms or hazards, and chrysonite everywhere. No good loot unfortunately, and the green crystals are aluminum, so there's that.

On the stackable items from breaking down upgrades: when you have a matching stackable in each inventory and you transfer one to the other, it gets absorbed by the other stackable. I did 7 neutrino boards + 1 neutrino board and got one stack of 8, and also 9 grav balls + 5 grav balls and got one stack of 14.

Yes I got to 4 mil collecting and selling those for about an hour. The trick is to have enough space in your exo suit and park your ship at a place with a trading post. Go explore for a little using your scanner, return to your ship icon and sell your loot.

For some reason the transmission towers on Gek worlds have infinite uses, so just find one, solve the puzzle, and repeat to find all the crashed ships you could want, just make sure you have lots of heridium and iron to get them off the ground.

zinc is from yellow flowers or buying from the trade network or salvaging parts on crashed ships (just swap to the abandoned ship, deconstruct all hte parts, take the materials you want to keep, go back to your old ship and swap back, you can get like 200-250 zinc if your ship is upgraded enough (it affects what upgrades the abandoned ship has)

Titanium, mine from rare-ish yellow crystals, or kill sentinels.or again, salvage or GTN.

the crack is 2 files ali213 and the steam_api in binaries.
open up ali213 in notepad. change all ali213 to the name of your choice save and exit.
then your name changes.

it's become weird since I updated my drivers, I get silky smooth 30 fps on high-grass high-vegetation areas, no drops for a while.

then I go to my ship and bam, down to 15fps, fly around a little back to30, land and go out and 15fps again. Then after walking around a little bit I go back to steady 30fps.

What I'm experiencing are sudden, rapid drops in framerate and GPU utilization. It only happens when I move the character around.
When I just move the camera, everything is nice and smooth.
Also, this problem seems to be restricted to planets, not to the space stations or just interplanetary space.

NMS is broken way beyond that. I already posted the chart above with a wall-of-text about the game's technical issues, but let's just say I've never seen a single game in my life when SLI / CF systems not only gain 0% (!) extra FPS but has negative effect (!!) on performance.

To answer your question, patches have done basically nothing to me. Out of box, I couldn't even get the game working (GOG version) despite fulfilling every requirement. It's not a problem if you enjoy it for a while, just don't pay anything for it (and thus do not support industry garbage).

The dumb thing is they should've just left it that way. Let's say in the old distance system someone would've gotten to the center in about 40 hours or so then that's perfectly paced to let someone gear up, enjoy their power and wrap things up in one session. If someone wants to carry on playing, great they move on to the next galaxy. If they thought it was a disappointment they can leave otherwise content they played 40 hours of game and had fun on the way to the end (which is the REAL message of the game)

Now the balance is all whacked and people are burning out way before the end so if someone does stick it out the disappointment is ten times more bitter.

Basically Sean panicked at that original leaker and make the backlash even worse.
