Crit simply acts as a multiplier of your overall damage; the average damage amp from crits is the same regardless of whether you fire many weak shots or one strong shot. Faster firerate simply means your damage spread will be more even.

10% base crit chance is not good. It doesn't matter how fast you fire.

This is complicated so Im gonna break it down slowly.

Damage per second (DPS) is a term used with computer games to describe the average rate of damage inflicted over time. To calculate DPS you take the average damage per shot and multiply that value by the number of shots the weapon fires per second.

Your crit stats (crit chance and crit multiplier) will affect the first value, and would be used to calculate your average damage per shot. Let's say your weapon has high crit stats and therefore has an average per shot damage of 500, but a slow fire rate of 1.5 shots per second. Your DPS for that weapon would be 750.

Now lets say your other weapon has low crit stats and lower base damage, giving it an average of 200 damage per shot. Are you still with me because this is the interesting part. Lets say its fire rate is 5 shots per second. Using the formula described above, your DPS is 1000.

So this may seem crazy but you can plainly see that a weapon with 'mediocre' crit stats actually does more damage than your weapon with high crit stats, all on account of fire rate. So to judge a weapon solely based on its critical damage alone, as you did above, should be considered foolhardy at best.
