You won't find them on the main route no. Just like you won't really find new ships or exosuits on main route either. Exosuits are in drop pods or outpost/space station rooms locked off by atlas pass doors (the ones in outposts requires v2 or v3 which is not on the main route either), ships are either salvaged from wrecks or bought from AYYLMAOS who land in their ship on landing pads at space stations or outposts or trading posts.

Multitools are usually found in outposts with 1 landing pad attached to them (that also have a trade network console at them). There's a few other ways to get them but those are also not part of the main route.

go to the scanner stations (orange beam to sky), search for transmissions until you find a beacon, go to the beacon and use it. it should give you a marker to an outpost and say "advanced lifeform detected." usually these will be the correct outpost where you can get a new one.
also finding polo and nada will get you one

That's why I'm bitching about this so hard. I play legit and I feel like it's taking forever for some illegit reason. My drives can take me ~1,600 Ly but I'm only getting 400 Ly closer each jump. I feel like it's one of two reasons.

1. Warp jump does some dumb shit like plots a course from star system to star system on a much lower distance threshold than what you think, like 400 Ly, and essentially jumps through a sequence of systems at once. This would mean that even though you think you can jump through gaps, you're really just not seeing your ship drive around them.

2. The center is fucking way off from what it appears to be from 100,000+ Ly away.

If it's 2, I'd like to know so I could actually start flying towards the center.

I actually did select a system kindof like that, although due to navigation being a bitch and me not having any reference of direction once the center light leaves the screen, this was as wide as I could take it. There's no telling what that angle is, so I wasn't sure what it would mean exactly. I tried to select one with roughly the same linear distance. I selected my starter system, rotated until the ball of light was on the right side of my screen, then held down "forward".

Running that through the SSS calculator, it says that the angle is almost 76 degrees. Which doesn't seem right but like I said I don't know what to make of it.

So I found out how you can buy the pirate ships you normally just fight in space.

>Look for Distress Signal (they must NOT be aggro against you) you can get one just by flying around outside a planet's orbit
>Find the giant ship they are attacking
>once you find them and you have those white triangles showing you where they are, do NOT attack them
>fly your ship into the planet and land somewhere
>look up and you'll still be able to see the ships buzzing around
>they'll stop after a bit and start following the ship routes
>get on your ship and start following them (it will be impossible to lose them because they will always have the white triangles around them on your screen
>they can't despawn EVER unless you reload a save, they will alwyas be flying around somewhere
>ship routes will always lead to a Trading Outpost where they will land
>once you see the outpost, land on it or around it, wait for the space pirates to land
>simply talk to them and buy the ship

They can't enter the Space Station, so they'll just clip through it, and then move on.
You can only buy the space pirate's ship in Trading Outposts.

It's possible to get the Atlas Pass V2 from Polo after handing in data.

It's possible to get the V3 in an abandoned building.

I figured some might want to know since these two things happened to me today and everyone is saying that you have to get them from Operations Centers which is BS, they obviously just proc like any other item after certain milestones have been reached.

I hate these.

These types of ships are so ugly, and they are always the most frequent types I see when investigating wrecks. I have never seen a good looking one. Even the ugliest fighter, space truck, or bugship looks better than any of these.

When you get tothe center does it send everyone to the same next gamaxy? Or does it send you to different galaxies after thus so it's almost impossible to find anyone after this point??

Crash Sites just spawn the ships that already exist in the system, it's just away of getting them for free.

So if you don't see any good ships in the Space Station, don't bother going for crash sites, they'll be the same ones.

How am I supposed to get good at accepting absolutely horrible mechanic that makes you do retarded leap of faith landings which more often than not end up with my ship sitting down on the edge of the fucking space Grand Canyon and coupled with WHO THE FUCK THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA auto exit AND auto save on exit. You can save yourself frustration somehow if you have lightning reflexes and jetpack back up in time, but god forbid you land in some fucking tight ravine, you are boned and have to pray for your ship to somehow bounce around and out the fucking cave without exploding, something which would be a fucking NON ISSUE if I was actually in control of the fucking ship.
How is this acceptable to anyone?

I've killed a ship on take off before too. You go to land it comes in kind at an angle of / and parks you just under something. Then on take off it of course goes \ instead of the the way it landed and that's it, game over.
