So that's that. I can't blame anyone but myself for that loss, even though PES did us no favors. We needed that goal in the first half, I needed to see that things were holding together, but they weren't. Props to /adv/ for bringing something new to the table. They're probably gonna beat /m/ too, unless /m/ find something spectacular, because those formations won't match up super well. To everybody who supported [s4s], be it since 2013 or since today, thank you, I love you. To everyone whom I've experienced the cup with in these past almost two years, I love you guys as well.

[s4s] will have two new managers very soon though, hopefully almost as soon as the curtains drop tomorrow. Good luck to everybody left in the cup, one of you is gonna be pinning your first star on your jersey.

I wish I could make it melodramatic or something, but lel I'm a former manager of an internet memeball team. I'm happy with what I've accomplished with the team, on a whole. The one time we got relegated it was in one of the greatest games in cup history, and we've had some spectacular ones since.

/adv/ aren't "good" and they haven't changed a thing since the foetus, they were obviously going to lose to one of the teams in that group. I didn't have time to prepare for this cup and only ran like two tests vs /adv/ but I knew exactly what I was testing against. With testing, at least with certain tactics, you get a feel for what the game will look like, and the /adv/ match looked exactly like my tests apart from the part where they scored 3 goals, funnily enough. I know it's cliche to call "PES" whenever you lose but we also must accept that no tactic is a 100% and crazy shit can sometimes happen, the /pol/ manager will tell you this.

It's just frustrating to, after two years of good, to finally manage my way into another elite cup with a mostly out-of-date [s4s] roster with aesthetics and so on and we actually do "well" but fall because a team beat us 3-0. I suppose this is what I deserve for fucking /m/ over a year and a half ago by doing the same, it just feels really shit, especially knowing that 15th in an elite means nothing but 19th in a Babby can get you through. I had known this would happen since we lost to /adv/ and I'll accept it with time, but right now I just feel numb.

Okay so I'm drunk enough so I'll take the bait. You said we haven't changed a thing since fetus and yet now we're surviving in an elite cup. We got pes'd out a victory against /biz/ in fetus that would've seen us though (and by the way we won a knockout round to advance anyway). In Spring we lost by one lucky goal against /r9k/ who we now know are a strong side and lost by only one goal /vr/ who also looked good this cup. All three of those matches could have gone either way.

You didn't lose because of San Marion shitting his pants and getting rekt in /4ccg/. You lost because /adv/ outplayed you. You didn't get any goals, not eve from /adv/'s defensive spaghetti, whereas we got 3 goals from counterattacking. Whatever you were testing against it was wildly different from what we actually played. Incidentally, we played those same tactics against /trash/ until halftime and they broke us down fairly easily. I tested for [s4s] a grand total of 1,000,000 times btw.

There is no such a thing as universally good tactics, but there is such a thing as universally bad ones (see: /y/ or /t/ eternally choking). Best you can do is to put together export that sometimes works and sometimes does not. Notice how there are many 9 point mustards and 0 point shitters in babbies (because every group has at least one hopeless team that everyone can score and meme on), yet those results are rare in Elite cups - with evenly matched teams, three coinflips that end up with three heads or three tails are somewhat rare. On a very short routes, maybe you can see similiar outcomes, but no, it is not the case. Sometimes someone will score on rebound despite GK defending it because of retarded defense that didn't butted in, sometimes he will not. If anything good at all can be said about PES16, it is that this is so far the least schematic game in the series. They are not improving the AI. In PES14, main problem was defense having ridiculously high speed and reflexes - non-medal defender without any cards was easily outrunning and bullying out of ball gold striker packed with useful skills, that's why we had to play on Professional instead of Superstar AI level for a while. In PES15, they "fixed" this problem. but instead of buffing strikers, they simply nerfed the defense, but that was somehow balanced by goalkeepers having godlike reaction times. In PES16, they "fixed" it even further by making defense retarded beyond point of salvation. I guess this "hurr durr if everyone is dumb then no one is dumb" approach is much simplier than putting any actual work into writing passable AI from the scratch.

If there is anything that got improved over the series, it's the ball physics. In older games, it was acting like a possession flag, moving flawlessly from one player to another and sticking close to the players legs all the time. Starting from 15, it acts like an independent object, getting lost while dribbling or rebounding from players blocking shots with their bodies.
