It seems the answer is no. I just cloned my ship over to one of the little xwing looking ones that had higher firepower bars and the firepower stayed the same. Speed seems less as well, but health is the same so its hard to say for sure.

Eventually you'll get a ship where the photon cannon is broken like, it has no aiming reticle in space combat. So you just have to guess on targetting when fighting space pirates. It's a pain in the ass. The phase beam auto targets pretty much.

The biggest bullshit is that in the promo video, there seems to be some system of scale put into place wherein larger creatures are slower, bulkier and not as aerodynamic. As it should be. But in the released game, all creatures, no matter the size, share the same animation.

Someone needs to make a mod that lets you stack up to 10 chips, power packs, warp cores, alloys, and atlas gems.

Has anyone done it the legit way? I tried that, and finding transmission towers was already hard enough. Seems to me that it takes months to get that. Pure grind.

I need Chrystonite, but the last 4 galaxies had no cold planets..

What you could do in the meantime is go full pirate and take on some freighters. In my experience, freighter containers tend to contain a lot of iron for shield repairs as well—which is good because you will have multiple turrets and a bunch of sentinel starships firing beam hitscan lasers at you a fuck ton.

You can totally create instanced multiplayer in this game, but the gameplay is so bad it'd be shit for PVP. Co-op for "real" space battles would be FUN though. Or hanging out on a freighter and dicking around the universe, that's about it.
