>ProjectE changed original EE2 machines to be an even easier way to cheat in items than ever
>it receives a fraction of the bad reputation that the original mod did

Does this say something about players or about the state of Minecraft itself.
>>
>>152228075
That's probably because nobody even tries to consider any kind of balance when Project E is mentioned. If you add it to any pack, you know fully well what you're doing.
>meanwhile, EE3 is still absolute shit
hope those people loved wasting money on patreonbucks
>>
>>152228075
It's because Tekkit is no longer the go-to modpack and the kiddies started getting obsessed with microcrafting.
>>
>>152228075
Maybe both, but EE has been completely useless aside from getting items out of thin air.

EE's concept doesn't know if it wanted to be magic (transmutation) or tech (red matter, dark matter). Unfortunately, if it wanted to be either, Thaumcraft has it beat in both ways.

Is there any way to completely rework EE so that it doesn't become redundant with other mods and still keep it somehow balanced?
>>
>>152228579
Get Thaumic Equivalence, disable certain blocks and customize the shit out of all EMC values. That should get you started maybe
>>
The way you can tell Forge is shit is when you're trying to Google your way around the lack of docs and find LexManos yelling at people for wanting 1.7 rendering features and confusing block models with tile entities until his tantrum is completed by locking the conversation.

Daily reminder that Forge contributors have to sign a legal document giving ownership of their work to Forge Development LLC, a company owned solely by LexManos, and that there's no legitimate reason why this is necessary other than him putting his name on your work since it's already contributed as LGPL.
>>

for me it always depends on the build. I like 3x3 the best and try to use it everywhere for reasons you described but sometimes a 4 high 2 wide works better given the aesthetic.

of course this is assuming I even make hallways.

I know in my dirty workshop build I had 3x1. they weren't halls they were like, access corridors in a planned network of structures.

You're not giving ownership of it, you're giving them a license to use it under the LGPLv2.1. You only give ownership to the Minecraft patches, aka only the part under "patches/", and this is probably for legal reasons more than anything as that's mostly hooks. (Also, even the ownership has a restriction that they may not change the license.)

>You grant Forge a license to use your code contributed to the primary codebase (everything not under patches) in Forge, under the LGPLv2.1 license.
>You assign copyright ownership of your contributions to the patches codebase (everything under patches) to Forge, where it will be licensed under the LGPLv2.1 license.

This is actually one of the most "restrictive-for-owner" CLAs I've seen in a while, most let the owner change the license at will (as long as the license has certain rights included).

Modding has gone full jew, not as bad as bethesda, with paid mods, but they still get money which makes them act like pricks for the most part.
A few exceptions manage to actually act professional.
Also mojang is full retard and makes modding go kill every once in a while with backend stuff.
Like now, we're still on 1.7.10 for the most part.

Modding is easy as fuck, just drag and drop these days.
Use multimc, it'll handle installing forge.

Most people use vanilla because with 100+ mods, getting a texture pack tat covers all of them is hard.
Faithful is just high res vanilla textures and I think it covers a lot of mods.
Pixel perfection is a new one that some people seem to like, it's also 16x, so untextured stuff doesn't feel out of place.
It does change up item names and stuff quite a bit, texturepacks became resourcepacks a while ago, they can change item names, sounds and stuff.

There isn't a problem with this, it'd be one thing if it was impossible to add modded tools to tcon, bit it's not.
Vanilla toolcrafting is shit. Stop trying to force this meme that it's something worth protecting, making it redundant is the whole point of tcon, replacing a shit framework with another somewhat less shit one.

The way that TiC "Fixes" Enchanting is giving you the option of what you want at the expense of raw materials, instead of enchanting where you use experience to get these boosts, at random. Or you can enchant the books and use an anvil, still only now just costing you books and experience instead of just experience.

The only problem with the vanilla enchanting system is that it's random, while TiC lets you choose what you want. Sure you'll pay out the nose for it (450 Lapis for Fortune/Looting 3, An Emerald and some gold for Silk Touch, Quartz out the ass for sharpness, etc.) but you can customize it how you want. The PROBLEM is that there's not enough to spend it on, so most builds (in 1.7.10) for swords are Moss or Flux and then stacking as much quartz as humanly possible. Tools are just Moss/Flux, a looting modifier (Silk on shovels, fortune and silk picks, silk hammer) and then as much redstone as you can slam on to it.
>>
>>152234865
not him, but why would lex need to own the patches if they're contributed as LGPL in the first place? there's no legal reasoning behind it. lex made it so that he owns the most critical part of forge despite not writing most of it. it's the same as how searge still owns mcp regardless of nearly all of it being community contributed now.

this is a pretty common thing in the open-source world, where one person who does very little for a project still has their name on it, so that they can claim it on a resume as their work. power struggles are also common because the owners either don't fully understand the project or limit what's done with it to retain their control.

those projects usually don't survive because eventually there's a better alternative. firefox and emacs are strong examples.
>>
>>152256807
The patches are not critical at all! Almost all of them are simply "call this function in this Forge class", which contains the rest of the logic - adding huge chunks of logic into what is essentially diff files of decompiled code would make them a massive pain to maintain.

obsoleting the vanilla tools itself is not the problem. it's obsoleting everything else that is.
and the "framework" you talk of is little more than hijacking other mods' materials to make itself more broken. stop trying to pretend your favorite mod isn't MAWPC as fuck.
>ticon crossbows can end up oneshotting absolutely everything
and you'll go "well that's only with extraTiC!"
and I'll point out that such broken shit is entirely your precious "framework" doing what you intend it to do - letting ticon be god of everything. even with addon mods it shouldn't be letting you make The One True (tool/weapon).

>>152255424
[enchanting plus] fixes enchanting by taking out the random shit and it doesn't make everything from everything else completely useless. and if you config it so, you can use it to let you remove enchants, even from random loot, and reenchant things to your liking, without spending a billion books and levels trying to trick the RNG into giving you something not shit.

>>152267192
Modded tools are based off of vanilla - they should be made obsolete.
And in no way is tcon perfect.
But it's far better than vanilla.
Oh, and the oneshotting thing isn't a problem anyore, it's been nerfed into the ground.

Tcon is supposed to be "god" of everything.
That's it's job.
It's not like it's taking valuable work or time away from modders, vanilla tools are like the easiest fucking thing to make.
It's supposed to replace all vanilla esque tools.
Because they're shit. And tcon is marginally less shit.

Balancing something in a sandbox game with a fuckload of moddability is a massive problem, so basically to fix tcon, and by extension extraTiC, adding some way to config everything.
>>
>>152267769
>Tcon is supposed to be "god" of everything.
>That's it's job.
So you admit it's MAWPC. Good. Now the healing process can begin. Start by uninstalling TiCon.
>>
>>152267192
And again, as I stated in another thread before, TiC works to remove the reliance on diamonds for tools and armor. Since in modded, many mods will demand diamonds for "higher tier" machines, or even as a requirement for entry on some of them. So why should you spend half a stack of diamonds on your own gear (8+7+5+4+3+2+1 = 30, +2 for the enchanting table) when you have mods demanding similar amounts themselves each? Removing the demand for Diamonds (And other precious metals) is a good thing in my opinion, as an Alumite pickaxe can get you through the nether and beyond.

But hey, different strokes for different folks. Some of us want to use things that are actually good, while the "muhbalance" fuckers that cry about every ore doubling system as being MAWPC and want to play vanilla but not play vanilla is just befuddling to me.
>>

>>
>>152267884
MAWPC means making things easy.
Not making shit content obsolete.
An iron pick made in tcon with an iron head and wood other parks should have the exact same stats as the vanilla one.
Except be moddable, and repairable in a non-shit way.
That isn't MAWPC.
The pick mods don't get crazy, they're based on vanilla.
It only gets crazy when you minmax like an autist.
And at which point, that's your fault.
Any modular system is going to be abusable.

Try playing an older pack maybe? My pc can handle a big 1.7 pack at 50-60 fps but when I try an old modpack like FTB Ultimate 1.4.7, I get around 90 fps with no spikes even with lots of machines around.

No vanilla system should be the basis of a modded playthrough.
Mojang is retarded.
They are incapable of designing well made, mutable frameworks for new content.
Vanilla is such a clusterfuck, it's better to replace 99% orpf mechanics.

Is there some kind of enhanced vanilla modpack? Basically, I like mining and I hate the hunger mechanic (it made me quit the game back when it was introduced), I don't really give a fuck about building stuff.

I've started playing 1.7.10 with a few mods and while I can't help but to find it lacking, I also hate it when mods overcomplicate things.
I like making complex railways systems for example so I gave Railcraft a try but this shit want me to make railbeds and individuals rails? No thanks.

But they you easily get supertools like Efficiency V Fortune III Ubreaking III pickaxes with no effort at all, while making all other levels of those enchantments completely worthless. That's one of the reason why I've been wanting to make a mod that some sort of progressive Enchanting Plus, where you can choose what enchants to add but you need to start at level 1 and you can opt to use materials instead of experience, but that would require learning Java and I'm too incompetent for that.

Your own. Pick a bunch of mods you like, try playing for a bit, if your performance is shit try to remove a few of them and see what happens. Keep doing that until you're satisfied.
>>
>>152280882
I've tried to stay away from building my own because of all the possible conflicts that would probably make me drop it after solving the first 20 and enountering 50 more :-/
>>
>>152281894
Start slow. Add them one at a time. If something hits performance too much, yank it out.

Avoid things like the Twilight Forest and possibly turn off some of the thicker forests in BoP (Fir Forests comes to immediate mind) as leaves are the #1 cause of heavy lag due to them needing to be rendered in the lighting engine.
>>
>>152281894
There aren't that many possible conflicts nowadays, all you might get are biome, enchantment and potion conclifcts but since you're forced to make a small pack you shouldn't be getting many of those. Remember that NEI has ID dump functions for everything.
Here's a tip, by the way: Biomes O'Plenty is absolute murder for low-end systems, so you might want to avoid it. Try RTG instead for a worldgen mod.

Which really confuses me, since I put three stacks of skulls in a ring below my altar, and it completely shat the bed when crafting a single telekinesis foci that I had to do it THREE TIMES and used resources to make SIX. Because it kept just disintegrating the items in flux goo and demanding double the vis.

Every time I do Thaumcraft, I get to the infusion altar and realize I need to dedicate like 16 chunks JUST to the infusion altar, and more infrastructure than is genuinely needed for the shit-tier toys that it produces just so I can keep researching and realize there's nothing worth making in the entire mod.

Genuinely absolutely nothing good in the entire mod outside of the Corporeal Attractor, and I'm sure an aspiring coder can make that in an afternoon to run on RF.

I honestly can't imagine what you must have done to throw the infusions off so bad. It's always been easy to figure out stabilization. Were you using your own modpack or a preconfigured one?

On the issue of the actual usefulness of the mod, I can kind of agree that base TC might not be the sterling mod people make it out to be, and a lot of it's features have been replicated in other mods due to how popular tc is. I still like fucking around with magic stuff though. Aside from the research shit, it's cool in my book.

I'm playing the 1.10 Captive Minecraft map and I'm stuck. Please help!
I've killed the Ender Dragon and the little thing that would teleport me to the New End appeared as normal, but I didn't get the achievement for killing the Ender Dragon (which is the point) and I can't get it to respawn.
Also, in the End I can't place blocks and I can't claim the Dragon Egg either because of this.
The way the portal back home is set up 3 blocks up in the air and without being able to place blocks I just can't get to it.
Every time I try to go to creative mode to fix this, there a command block somewhere in the map that instantly sets me back to survival.
And the teleproter thing doesn't seem to react to my arrows hitting it, so I can't get out of there that way either, only through dying. And I want to claim that fucking egg, so dying isn't an option.
If there's a way to get through this, someone please help me!

I died a million times that didn't help to get the achievement. I completely forgot about the Elytra though, since it was pointless against the dragon. I died and came back with it and it worked. Though I missed about 4 times until I finally threaded the needle.

>Claim the egg

That's a shame. Even if it's useless, it's my favorite thing in the End.

>Pretty sure that's for going through the portal home
You are correct. Though I didn't even consider this, because the achievement is titled "Defeat the Ender Dragon". Silly me, I thought actually defeating the fucking thing would be enough to get this.

I'm kinda bummed though that the End is useless and the New End doesn't work either, I was planning to move my base here.

Can someone help me with video settings?

I'm running 1.7.10 with Optifine and FastCraft. I get a lot of those visual bugs where it's like a certain clump of blocks stutters and goes invisible sometimes.

I'm pretty sure on Optifine I have just about everything set to "Fast" as well as Fast Render/Fast Math and everything that sounds good

Are there any config options for optifine I should know about that help a lot for this kind of thing?
>>
>>152357651
Don't use optifine's additional settings. At all.
>>
>>152357651
go to video settings, and next to the brightness slider it'll say chunk loading. make sure that's set to default and not smooth or max fps. may not be causing your issue, but that's the cause of most issues with optifine.

>>
>>152351218
Even in Vanilla Skyblock it was pretty easy to get Endermen to spawn in big numbers. Just build a regular but Enderman compatible high output mob farm and a decent item sorter for the drops.
For better spawn rates it's recommended to put it as high as you can to be far away from caves, since it's a nightmare lighting those up.
>>
>>152357916
-Add fastcraft.
>For optifine
-Disable Fast math (Add BetterFPS and try Riven's Half/Full calculations, first)
-Disable Lazy chunk loading
-Disable fast render
-Set mipmap levels to 1 (idk if they can be disabled)
-Disable basically anything that's in the same options screen as "lazy chunk loading"

You can mess around with the other options (Fast leaves, no stars/clouds or fog, etc). Those will actually bump your FPS a bit. The other settings are all really dependent on your graphics card settings. But, judging by how many people have issues with those settings, I'm going to assume it's Optifine's shitty coding.
>>
>>152358751

9x9 platform in the corner of a building, walled off directly below makes an 8x8 room.

I'm completely baffled as to how someone can be so bad at Thaumcraft.

Stabilizer range is 12 x and z, +5/-10 y. They have to be placed in 180 degree symmetry. Please note that's less than 1 chunk, not 16 chunks.

Sounds like you chose a shitty spot for your altar. Don't blame the mod just because you chose to cut corners.
>>
>>152370154
I'm not blaming the mod because I chose to cut corners, I'm blaming the mod for having its "high end toys" be comparable to something I can get within two hours of starting a new world. There's literally NOTHING GOOD in all of Thaumcraft that can't be compared to vanilla. I'm not putting TC against mods (which it would lose out to in a heartbeat), I'm putting TC against Vanilla, and Vanilla is winning with absolute ease.

>>
>>152370974
I have. Most of it is pretty pitiful unless you sink a solid month into something, and then you can get halfway admirable results while the vanilla player is way past that.

>Metal transmutation/generation
Iron farms and gold farms exist in vanilla, and aren't that hard to make. Modded just makes it even more ridiculously easy.

>Wand foci
Wand of Equal Trade was the only one worthwhile in this entire bunch, and it's complete shit until you research the foci upgrades and sink more energy into it to make it silk touch again. Or you can just have one of the multitude of block changers in modded for what feel like pennies. The attack foci are worse than a basic bow and arrow, even when upgraded, the mining foci is worse than bare fists, Portable Hole is unreliable and usually a buggy mess, and the others are generally forgettable. There's also the block moving foci in Tinkerer, but that's buried so deep in the mod that you're better off building a diamond dolly or a cardboard box.

>Golems
Buried way deeper in the mod than they should be. Better and faster ways to automate farms overall, and a lot more reliable too.

There's just NOTHING worthwhile in Thaumcraft (or in most magic mods) at all. I can have a pack without any of them and have no diminished experience at all, whereas their presence can just cause unnecessary pain through taint biomes, hungry nodes, excessively ugly fauna, Pechs, Cultists, Wisps, and other cancer-tier problems.

But you're discounting all the other combat stuff, as well as the thaumostatic harness, and the fact that some of TCs addons, like automagy, have really good features.
>>
>>152372223
>Thaumostatic Harness
I discount it because it's far easier to make and maintain a fluxed Jetpack, or if I'm going to dedicate an inventory slot to vertical mobility I'll just use pearls. Not hard to come by in the timeframe that demands making a harness.

>All the other combat stuff
Bone Bow? Sword of the Zephyr? Surely you must be joking. There's hardly anything in TC that is combat oriented aside from the foci and a few scant laughable-tier weapons.

>automagy
While I was on board with a book that does the research for you, you have to remember that there's nothing worth researching in general. So an easier means to the end doesn't make the end any better.

I never mentioned those because those are so useless that they hardly even get any mention ever. Warded Paving Stones barely work, and often times don't, and outside of being witherproof warded glass is basically on par with things like Fused Quartz (EiO), Hardened Glass (TE), or Reinforced Glass (IC2). Though considering that vanilla mechanics shove the wither into bedrock, this is completely moot.

I'm not one that completely hates the research (It's a dumb thing but it makes sense sort of) but just the amount of resources you have to effectively throw at the mod for something that feels less rewarding than something I could make in vanilla.

I've already uninstalled it and do not install it in any further personal packs. Public packs I denounce it outright and trash everything regarding the mod that I get.

1.10 doesn't have many mods available for it yet. What few mods do exist have terrible performance.

1.7.10 lacks some vanilla content, but that content is easily added by mods. 1.7 has more stable mods than any other version, but fewer and fewer modders are making new content for it.

People still play on 1.6.4, mostly for Traincraft (or Railcraft? I don't use either). The Chisel mod author even backported Chisel to 1.6.4.

thanks man, just finished the project two days ago after an all nighter.

on the same world im building carentan, an armor base, a kriegsmarine base with 2 U-boats in the bay, i already made D-day beach ill post in a sec, and some siegfried blockhauses with maus/wirbelwind backups

and a joint U.S-U.K base with a bunch of shermans, pershings, churchill gun carriers, etc, and an airstrip with some mustangs and such to the south of the german base, queing up for an attack.

in carentan in the main street im planning on making 4 of the houses into museums that have signs on the walls giving a timeline and history of the war, with house #1 telling 1939-40
#2 with 1941-42
both those houses will focus on the german perspective and their gains
house #3 with 1943 will focus mostly on the turning of the tides on the eastern front, with the implications of losing stalingrad and kursk
#4 will be 1944 and 45 focusing on allied bombing campaigns, normandy, and russians in berlin. and the closing of the war with an aftermath and how the war shaped up today.

i might just write a fucking book while im at it.

Unique mod compared to other tech/magic. Integrates well with vanilla and other mods without being too powerful. Rods provide utility or interesting effects. Big fan of the rod of the skies which poptarts you 50 blocks upwards and temporarily negates fall damage. Doesn't let you cross lava oceans, but does allow new ways of moving.

>>152466238
PSI was interesting but it just gets so powerful in a utility sense that it negates so many other options. One click digging of 1x3 stripes of any block is trivial, can apply strong potion effects at almost no cost, unlimited bonemeal. Its just a bit much.

FTB is so pathetic. They can't make their own modpacks, so they get people to volunteer the work. They can't do their own builds, so they get people to volunteer the work. They can't run their own servers, so now they're wanting volunteers for that.

All the while, fags like Slowprick, tfox, quetzi and whoever else is in the upper circlejerk get a paycheck for being shady enough to manipulate people into doing free work.

If you use FTB packs you are literally cancer.

Here's some tinkerer's smeltery math you didn't want.

Minimum cost of a smeltery is a controller, tank and drain setup. These parts replace three blocks of the structure and when compared to the 4brick blocks, add an additional cost of 16 bricks or 4 blocks to the smeltery.

So a 1x1x1 needs 5 blocks (20 bricks) + the 4 blocks worth of minimal equipment (16 bricks), meaning a minimal investment of 36 bricks or 9 blocks to get a working smeltery.

2x1x1 = 2base + 2*2long + 2*1 short + 4equipment = 12 blocks for 2 volume

1x1 = 9 blocks/volume; V = 1
2x1 = 6; V=2
2x2 = 4; V=4
3x2 = 3.33; V=6
3x3 = 2.78; V=9
4x4 = 2.25; V=16
2x2x2 = 3; V=8
3x3x2 = 2.05; V=18
4x4x2 = 1.625; V=32
3x3x3 = 1.81; V=27

So it generally follows the bucket equation where you want a cylinder which is twice as wide as it is high.

So I guess the headache of trying to get the little fucks to cooperate counts as fun around here.
>>
>>152475295
Cancel that I'm dumb, taller is better. The taller your smelter the more efficient it will be.

HOWEVER, you reach a limit where your efficiency approaches the cost of each layer, wider smelters having greater efficiency limits.
>>
>>152476036
>>152475295
In that a 1x1 has a limit of 4/vol; 2x2 2/vol; 4x4 1/vol; 5x5 .8/vol.

The equation is 4/Side_length; but this is only for very tall smelters that are many times taller than they are wide.
>>
>>152475295
>>152476036
>>152476340
Take away is to build a minimal smelter that you can afford; then upgrade like so:
3x3x1 -> 3x3x2 -> 4x4x2 -> 4x4x3 at which point you decide your ultimate dimensions and just build up.

I'm pretty sure many of us won't be surprised.

Modded is both incredibly easy and difficult to grasp. Depends on the mods, really. Things like Mekanism and Thermal Expansion are incredibly easy to understand, while things like Immersive Engineering, Botania, and Thaumcraft are so incredibly vague with their documentation that the best option you have is to copy block for block someone else's setup, and just build around that, as opposed to just letting the build flow naturally.

You might as well hate every mod that has an idea that isn't entirely original.

lava immunity is easily available through potion effects in vanilla. Netherwort, magma cream and redstone gives 3 bottles of 8 minutes (24 min total). Netherwort is found in the fortress with the required blaze rod, magma slimes are common enough in the Nether.

Considering you'll need similar items to make the item in question all it really does is free up some inventory space.

How much lava swimming are you going to do that 8-24 minutes isn't enough?

The CLA is a 404. The mappings are in the public domain, so zero restrictions on usage - not even attribution is required.

Generally, if we don't have a CLA, anyone can pull a Wolverness and say "I DIDN'T PUT *MY* MAPPINGS ON THE CC0! I'M TAKING YOUR CODE DOWN". Also, we plan to have a clause affirming that you did not use restricted mappings which could get us into trouble to contribute.

>So are you checking every single mapping that someone contributes to make sure it's not the same as MCP? Does that include classes?

No. If they end up the same by coincidence, it's fine - I just require people to affirm that they did not explicitly steal data from MCP's files.
>>
>>152493185
Mappings aren't MCP's property, Searge is a retard to think he can own names applied to a product he didn't create which are used by open-source products.

I can write a piece of software to extract all the names back out of a mapped jar, which doesn't use his data files directly. There's no legal resource he can take.

They don't spawn in bodies of water, in addition to that they only spawn below Y-40 or something. GoG's spawning code is awkward and mostly statically assigned to vanilla biome and subbiomes, so if a mod generates something else it usually won't work out. You used to have to use a bridge mod to get GoG to spawn with Bop biomes, not sure if that's still the case now days though.
>>
>>152497438
>You used to have to use a bridge mod to get GoG to spawn with Bop biomes, not sure if that's still the case now days though
Nah, I think it references the Biome Dictionary for it now. Of course, that doesn't really help when a mod clears the spawn lists for a biome and re-initializes them, like Highlands does.

>>
>>152475295
>>152476036

I remember doing the same math, but solving for `volume per seared block` (so higher is better) rather than `seared blocks per volume`. I also ignored the extra bricks for the controller/drains/spouts because they don't change - and the controller/drains/tank use at least 4 bricks so I just count them as seared blocks.

I also did it differentially - when you have a 1x1x1, is it better to go vertically or horizontally? Same for 2x2x1, and so on. My conclusion was pretty much the same as yours: If the height is more than half the width, it's more efficient to expand the smeltery horizontally.

FYI, the smeltery keeps all its liquids in the controller block, so you can expand it in place as long as you don't break the controller.

Also FYI, the casting basin is a fluid tank that you can extract fluids from, so you can auto-cast everything in the smeltery by building Drain -> Fluid Duct -> Casting Basin -> Fluid Duct -> Casting Table with itemducts extracting from the basin and table into a chest.

You mean an EIO alloy smelter?

As of some update, the two smelters share a lot of recipes, but the alloy smelter is easier to make since you don't need invar.

Given that, I'm surprised you can't make that alloy in the smeltery either - but if you could, you would still need a Pyrotheum-fueled smeltery due to Redstone's high melting point.

Hello all, I want to put together a modpack, just for myself and maybe a few friends to play. I think I can figure out how to install mods on my own, even though it's been a while, but one of the nice things about modpacks is the compatibility added - for example, making sure there are no dimension ID conflicts, or adding Thaumcraft aspects to entities. For any given combination of popular mods, these issues have probably already been addressed in a public modpack like FTB Infinity, so I'm wondering if there's a way to take advantage of that. Perhaps some way to disable or remove mods in existing modpacks, stripping them down to just the desired mods?

>tweak recipes to reduce microcrafting
>playtest

But of course, you can be lazy instead and just tweak one or another config and call it done.

And done. 1 redstone dust + 1 iron ingot = 1 conductive iron.

The liquid redstone turns out was from ProjectRed for alloying its conductive redmetal so I did remove that alloy since that can be made on a crafting table and furnace and it conflicted if you tried this with full blocks since it looked for 8 redstone and 1 iron ingot worth.

Here's the MT patch if anyone else would like it:

>>
>>152554665
Microcrafting essentially allows you to increase the cost of something to whatever value you want, instead of being limited to what you can fit in a crafting grid.

It also allows you to incorperate other resources normally not involved in the crafting process, by using machines that have liquid or other requirements to produce an item.

Although this can add depth, it can also add a lot of tedium to the crafting process, as well as a lot of time. Some products may take a long time to be processed.

I will never understand moders hate for windmills.
Here's a water wheel. Pour some water on it and it'll generate some nice early-mid game power for you.
Here's a windmill. Stick it up as high as possible so as to be aesthetically displeasing, have nothing else within 5 blocks of the blade and it'll generate a whole 2 rf/t
>>
>>152555207

>Although this can add depth, it can also add a lot of tedium to the crafting process, as well as a lot of time.

Which is exactly what has happened with Gregtech/Industrialcraft and any mod that panders to it's insufferable fanbase that constantly scream 'muh balance'.

Honestly, I never understand that argument of adding balance to an already broken game. Especially considering that vanilla already allows you to create cobblestone generators, mob grinders and infinite water. By the time you decide to include mods to vanilla Minecraft you're already knee deep into a broken game, so why worry about it? Why punish yourself with the tedium of making item after item in order to make one machine that needs it's own special snowflake power system that requires it's own method of generating power.
>>
>>152559067
Infinite water is more or less a quality of life change, as well as potentially aesthetic. Nearby lakes would start to look like shit over time if there was no infinite water.
Cobblestone generator is similar, as well as allowing some creative challenges, such as skyblock, to be possible.

You could dig large sections of rock out of the ground and make a giant ugly hole, or you could slap down a cobble generator, tape down your left click, and then afk for a bit.
Cobble isn't a rare resource either way, so it's not exactly "broken" to be able to generate it.

Mob grinders are kinda busted, but you dont get much out of it other than XP and mob drops.

Minecraft isn't very broken, IMO. Mods trying to preserve a sense of balance and progression makes sense.
Gregtech/IC take it a bit too far, with microcrafting at nearly every step in the process.
A healthy balance of microcrafting is typically where there are common base items that are easy to mass produce with little time invested, like thermal expansion

Proposal for a Witch and her Craft (AWC):
>start out by mining crystals, gathering sticks, salt, seeds, wax and string for candles
>craft a spellbinder and write spells in runes on books or in a multipage book of shadows
>build an altar
>lay salt in an 11x11 circle around the altar, marking a pentagram, and place down candles to represent the elements on the points
>craft a stick with 3 saplings to make a broom
>sweep natural energy nearby the circle by holding right click to start a ritual
>from this point on, you can't leave the circle without an athame; hold right click inside the circle to open a 'door' through it, then you can walk through, but you need to close the circle afterwards by repeating on the outside
>point north, west, south, and finally east while holding shift right click to call upon the gods and guardians to listen to your request (broom will glow with an enchanted effect when you're pointing in the right direction)
>spellbooks will glow now, simply right click to read out the spell, casting it if you've called upon the correct god
>if you've called upon the wrong god, the spell may either just not work, or turn on you, depending on the god, and their personality
black string is for the athame, coming next, and is the last

>costs nothing but wood and creosote oil connected to a copper/iron thing

I'd say that windmills get that bad reputation because they're basically solar panels that work at any time, with the only things that can affect their output being the height at which they're placed (meaning you'll never see them as something above y=200 is optimal) and if it's raining or not.

As far as train mods go, it doesn't have a lot of functionality in terms of practical use (there's only one rolling stock that can be filled, and even then, it's only blocks, not items), but the models and animations are top notch.

You don't need to. Just use Admin Command Toolbox to pregenerate a big portion of the world, so you won't get worldgen lag while exploring unless you get to ungenerated chunks, then you can just pregen some more.

64 chunks from spawn (with /pregenspawn, that's 128x128 chunks) seemed enough for me. Mine takes about 2-3 minutes to generate that much, it all depends on the size and your cpu, so you could go for even more.

I do it it right after I create the world, because I like to explore a little before settling down.
