I'm 7 hours late but it's a pretty linear persona experience with "best gear" that's given out little by little as the game progresses while focusing on one of two main narratives. It's missing some of the nicer things like keeping an evenly leveled party without much effort but the reward for this is a far more varied combat system that demands your attention and rewards you for it. Fusion is kind of lame by comparison, demon negotiations are comical and funny, music is 10/10 and even some of the characters kill and bury some of the cast from 3 and 4. The combat is my favorite aspect hands down tho.

I don't know. If we're going by P4, Atlus never puts any effort into the first few party members. Chie, Yosuke and Yukiko had the more underwhelming Shadows/slinks compared to the 1st years. You can tell they put minimal effort into their arcs.

Yeah, I wish they'd either give you a protagonist with a set personality who would choose their own love interest and the player has no input, or they'd give you a blank slate protagonist with a love interest you can choose based on your interpretation of the character. By doing a middle of the road kind of thing with Tatsuya, you end up with a situation like I had where I went "eh I'll go with Jun" and then ultimately in EP Atlus decides they had a different vision of the story. I like linear stories but I would've been happier if they never gave me a choice at all if that choice would later mean nothing.
