I have s dumb question but u want a clear answer from people who have experienced it and used it; dies the new weapon level up system in MHGens make any weapon one that can be used to max tier? Basically does leveling up a weapon make it as strong as a new weapon you can craft at that point? Does an iron hammer, for example, upgraded to max level put it on the same tier as then craftable endgame weapons and keep every weapon on its own asthetic path that's as good as any other weapon of the same level? And does that make upgrading to new designs basically side-grades or does it put them on a stronger upgrade path?

short answer: no

its effectively the same as upgrading weapons in previous games. lets say you have two weapons you're leveling as you progress through the game. both weapons are currently as far upgraded as you can. then you finish an urgent and unlock a new rank. it could very well be the case that one of the new monsters will upgrade one of the wrapons, but the other won't be able to upgrade again until another rank higher.

in the end, however, everything will upgrade to around the same strength, but there will be a few path that are clearly better than the rest

To be sincere for a second, I like Striker due to the crazy supermoves I can pull off every three seconds. It adds to the gameplay in an engaging way that makes the typical old GL play style more interesting than before.

Adept GL is also great fun. Hilariously, Long 4 with ArtEx does more per full burst than Normal 4, last I checked. I literally never use Normal for this reason anymore.

Even if you can't use the counter, the rest of the moveset is identical to Guild, minus the flip-reload, so you don't need to rely on the adept counter attack. And you also keep the adept guard, which you can sidestep out of, even if you can't counter.

The only enemy I had problem fighting with adept was Hyper Yian Kut-Ku..

Shameful, but all it does is spam the rapid beak attack, and you'd have to be Daigo to adept guard all of them succesfully.

depends on the monster as far as the head. most monsters are tall enough that you can shoot them while the blademasters have to hit it from below so no prob. for the low posture mons, like walking raths, you should be able to get an angle on them that isn't through your fellow hunters as long as you're not trying to hit it with pierce width-wise.

Yep. Striker Wide is life. It takes that stupid full burst attack out and keeps a normal third thrust which allows for ridiculous combos in length. I'd even argue for Striker Long if you're in a 4-man group, because that's a potential of 9 pokes and 3 shots in a single combo.

I love the dragon blast and fire HAs though. They're just too good to pass up.

Eating for explorer is optimal for solo, it puts you in an ideal area to get 10 coal without moving much. But in a group of 4 you only need 3 fucking coal, you can spawn anywhere, the time saved not eating for explorer getting 1 timeworn 2 shining and 6 firecell stones and not having to eat before reposting the quest makes a big efficiency difference. kys

Adept HH, aerial GS, or adept bow?

Eating for explorer gets you an easy predetermined route to get easy coal and you get more charms. It also doesn't even take long to do.

You just drop from the secret spot and move one more screen, then farcaster back. I get my coal before any of the randoms do and I get more money. Usually 3-5 times the money.

The room you drop in also has purple nodes, so if you're running with randoms who take too long you can grab charms there too.

Add 30 seconds of downtime or more if everyone is doing it at the hub. Think of how many times you had to wait for people to eat.

Is your best bet on that route for coals, thanks to 3 nodes. Guess what? One can be blue. Also, the room prior to that has a good chance to just have blue nodes. Meaning that sometimes, you won't have good access to red nodes at all. And RNG can prevent getting a single coal from those 2 areas. Not to mention if you didn't bring sonic bombs, Remobras are dicks.

You only have a small chance to get Timeworn from blue. You can also get Mystery and Shining. A good secret area run gets you 3-6 Timeworns if RNG is on your side with charmer+2. So those extra charms you're seeing are a mix of more than just Timeworn.

Meanwhile you can get Timeworn from red, albeit less frequently. And even with a bad spawn, you still have a higher chance at mining coal. The cat room leads right to Rajang (reliable coal gains here, bring smoke bombs), and more importantly the Apceros room, arguably the best for coal. Between the two rooms you're easily at 10 coals and at worst, 4 coals with bad RNG, especially if you bring gatherer.

So is it worth mining for an extra minute or more for less than a handful of assorted charms, when the rewards grant you guaranteed Timeworn? No. You're doubling your hunt time.

TLDR:
Don't eat. Don't mine blue. Bring smoke bombs and sonic bombs just in case. And end your hunts in under 1:30 consistently.
