As much as I'd like to see them being an additional environmental hazzard, I honestly doubt that. Most likely they'll use the same sprite solution they use for solar emissions, which are cosmetic only.

This game is taking a LOT longer to flesh out that it would otherwise, because they cant stop shlepping brabens dick and pretending everything is fucking fine because theyre "making their own fun" in a game where if youve seen 10 different star systems youve seen them all and right now the most advantageous thing to do is haul literal shit around as a job.

I bet many of these people have 4 figures of hours sunk into this game already and can never admit to themselves they spent that much time flying around with basically nothing to do, which has only recently *begun* to change, and i know fdev is all over that leddit daily soaking up the sycophants so the message they get is EVERYTHINGS FINE. They even managed to start a little cult of personality around Braben who as far as i can see has the charisma of a sea sponge. I dont care about him personally, i care about the potential this game could reach if people started getting real with fdev instead of giving them a fucking relaxing foot rub every time they show up.

I got about 100hrs in the game so far and im just about done, i wont sink the big hours in until the game deserves it. Im not gonna compensate for fdevs failure to implement actual gameplay for almost 2 years by using external fansites to LARP and pretend im in an eve corp or some shit.

Get it the fuck together, give this game a point beyond fuck bitches get money, already.

This. The game has a decent variety of things to do, it's just that none of it feels important. You just do stuff for the sake of doing it, and the only thing that ever changes is your credit balance. You can kill 100,000 pirates in an RES, and they'll just keep coming. Nothing ever happens as a result. Even the economy is static. You can trade the shit out of a route until there's nothing left, and when you come back the next day, everything is back to normal. The commodities just appear out of thin air.

They do have pushing minor factions, but at the end of the day, it doesn't make a difference which name is on top of the list in a system. It has no visible impact. I guess Powerplay *sort of* does that, but they implemented it in the most boring and grindy way possible. There's not even a reward for killing players of opposing powers.

IMO, the game needs two important things to become great:
1. Persistence/importance for player actions. Give us something interesting to do that isn't just grinding credits. Let us have a visible impact on the game world.
2. Proper MMO features. The barebones approach to multiplayer is just pure piss. There needs to be guild support of some kind, and there needs to be some way to earn rewards with PvP.

Despite all, I'm still hyped for 2.2.

You'll get some of it. Passengers and all of the various QoL upgrades will be available to you, but they did say the biggest passenger ship, the Beluga, will be Horizons-only. They haven't said anything for ship-launched fighters, but I would be surprised if they weren't also Horizons-only.

I wonder if Braben wrote Elite lore himself, I quite like it.
