I don't get why people are still defending Elysium. The problem isn't population, and the launch was okay for a private server, but the game is bugged as fuck.

Here are the ones I encountered leveling 1-10:

>mobs will try to flee inside buildings and impassable terrain
>underwater mobs will evade all the way to melee distance
>ranged caster mobs just stay on place without casting (Lelground style)
>fleeing mobs die inside terrain or float in the air, not being able to get looted

Things that are fixed though:

>aggro lose distance is like it was on vanilla
>UC elevators work

Race doesn't really matter, picking something you can stand the look of is more important.

Humans are good, sword/mace spec is fucking amazing for any melee class that uses them due to how weapon skill works. Diplomacy is a nice timesaver though the rep grind never really kicked in until TBC.

Gnomes have escape artist, useful if you play something squishy. They also have a bit more int as casters. However everyone will hate you because fuck gnomes.

Dwarves have stoneform, useful for purging DoTs on you if you play a rogue. Gun spec is ok for hunters.

Nelf Racial is helpful for hiding from ganks, dodge chance is meh. Faster corpse runs is actually pretty nifty as they can be rather long in vanilla.

Orcs have stun resist, it's fucking great. They also have an on demand damage buff for physical.

Trolls have on demand haste, it's alright and can REGENERATE 5HP A SECOND AND THERE NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT.

Forsaken have WotF it removes stuff that takes control away from you but isn't a stun, good on a PvP server. Canibalism helps reduce downtime if you can't heal. Water breathing is shit.

Cows have the slowest run speed animation ever concieved and you will feel as if it takes longer to get anywhere. Stomp is a good o-shit stun. Health increase is fairly inconsequential since it's base HP, most comes from your gear.

For class Warlock or Rogue are easy to level, moderately fun and moderately in demand in raids. Rogues less so due to how many there are.

Hunters aren't really in demand and sort of fall off until they get the bwl xbow, but there's always about 3 raid spots for them.

For Ally pve nelf/dorf doesnt really matter since you wont be using a gun. PvP it's a matter of shadowmeld vs stoneform, good for different things.

Horde should be troll for PvE, orc for PvP if I remember correctly. But it's not a must to be either really.

Hunters aren't that in demand in raids, they are incredibly fast and easy to level so there are loads of them around and most are shit. Their damage is also a bit sub par. In all honest the speed and ease of levelling as a hunter is a bit exaggerated, Warlocks have it almost as easy and don't have to buy ammo or pet food.

Alliance races don't really have anything hunter specific. Dwarves have gun spec (though every weapon you'll get will likely be a bow). Nelves have shadowmeld.

Orcs stun resist and Command for extra pet damage is really good. Trolls have bow spec and beast slaying, you'll be slaying a lot of beasts while levelling.

Dual wielders that use swords or maces should go human since the extra 5 weapon skill makes a huge difference. In fact it makes a big impact on all melee that use those weps but DW is much more significant.

How do you guys handle playing melee classes? Hitting shit over and over with weapons always got boring for me. No I'm not calling you shitters, just wondering what keeps you playing.

So why are Nelf Priests/Rogues, Undead Warriors etc a no-go while Dwarf Priests, Human Rogues etc all really good?

Humans have a racial that gives them a bonus to hit (iirc) with maces and swords. Rogues use swords and the like later on in game. Dorf priests have fear ward which in INCREDIBLY helpful in later dungeons/raids as it keeps them from running around and letting everyone die. No, seriously. Fear ward is fucking needed in end game content. Nelves don't have any type of racial that helps out except, what, better agility? Undead don't have any skills that benefit warrior save for cannibalism which helps with not having to buy bandages. Basically nelves are only good for being druids and Undead are good for a lot of stuff PvP wise but not much in pve.

Dorf priests have fear ward, easily the best "racial" in the game.

The reason why you want to pick UD is for Wotf, which dispels all sleep, fear and charm effects. Warriors already have 2 skills that do this, so the WotF is basically wasted.
Also they deal less damage than orcs and trolls.

Nelfs are bad because all their racials are shit. You can't shadowmeld out of combat in vanilla.

Tauren tanks are good because they get +5% hp and some nature res I think.

Orc melee dps are good because Blood fury.

Trolls are kinda weak because most of the endgame bosses are not beasts, and bow skill is not as good as melee skill because ranged attacks can't be parried or dodged. Berserk is really weak and lasts for a very short time.

Rep gain racial is important because some loot and raid attunements require rep, and getting rep takes quite long in vanilla.

every class has a role at end game but only particular specs are viable in raids. most anything can work in pvp depending on what you're trying to do.
For raids, anyone that can heal primarily heals. Paladins go holy, shamans go resto, etc. There are exceptions but it often involves being the raidleader's gf. I wouldn't suggest trying to raid as enhance or retri if someone was new.
(Realistically it's possible especially in 12 year old content but you're still being carried and still going to have to blow a lot of dudes)
As far as new-friendly classes, hunters are the ones most often suggested. However vanilla classes aren't THAT complex and you'll be able to figure shit out fast after playing and using a little bit of google. Especially with k2 reduced re-spec fees.

It's a meme but playing what you are into means a lot. I love paladins but hate how limited they are in vanilla but still suffer through it because I'm into being a holy warrior that purges unclean orks and undead. Or at least talks about it while a wizard kites me.

i know it's preaching to the choir here, but while Legion does look better than WoD (not difficult to do) it's still the same levels of no social interaction required - maybe even more.
That's beyond the repeated complaints about further pruning and gameplay changes, the game being ridiculously easy pre max level (more of a chore or nuisance than any actual challenge) as well as 90% of the world made irrelevant every xpac.
Either way, LFD and CRZ is still a thing. You can level through a zone in Legion and never talk to another soul (and never need to). Even if you made a friend while questing (lol) you'd likely never see them again anyhow. Other players might as well be bots - gathering nodes are personal and phased now, even.
The mythic difficulty dungeons and raids ARE pretty good (tho the dungeons will get old fast as you repeat them) but a sliver of pretty-fun-shit isn't worth a hollow and empty world where other players (even friends) are more a hindrance than anything else.
Shit sucks. i want WoW to be fun again and not boring slog followed by months of raidlogging while bitching about content.

Warrior is the only class that can properly tank endgame, so a lot of people roll warrior exclusively for that. However warriors are good DPS but very gear reliant.

Levelling one sucks if solo but is a breeze if you have at least one friend of any other class helping.
