I'd never suck on his toes at all, even if they were dainty and perfect. I'd constantly encourage a speedup, even if he was doing a good job. I certainly wouldn't enjoy myself, but at the same time it would be exactly the experience the developers said it would be. This game is worth $60. I even bought a ps4 just for this game and am still having a blast.

How much do the 40+ slot ships cost to buy? I've recently happened upon a good source of Vortex cubes right next to a Space Station buying them at +104% so I can basically farm up about 1.5 mil per 15 minute trip so i was wondering how much I'd have to farm up if I wanted to get a big ole ship.

I fucked up on my first playthrough. I switched ships without transferring my items, and lost two atlas stones in the process. I was able to pick up 9 more by continuing the atlas path, then wound up at the very end. It requires 10 to finish the atlas path, but I only had 9. So I warped out of system hoping to randomly stumble across another atlas station (not knowing I could find one using monoliths)

I found Nada and Polo, however, and this time I talked to them, they were pissed at me. Nada was still glitching out and his other Korvax self was trying to take over again, and Polo said that I should go away and join the pirates.

Here's the thing. I didn't do a thing. I didn't attack a neutral ship, and I was giving Polo all of the data he wanted. To add to that, Nada wouldn't give me the option to resume the path of Atlas. With my last known atlas station in the dust behind me, I wasn't able to resume it at all, and started a new save.

What the fuck happened?
>>
>>152113128
It's kind of weird. The Gek seemed all nice and cool and then as I proceeded to play I found their story after doing some Korvax and suddenly the Gek are like these evil fucks, or atleast used to be.

Meanwhile the korvax are stabbing me in the brain and in general being uncaring dicks. The whole convergence thing is pretty cool though.

Is it normal that every planet has the same cave composition? It's always the same plants and the same green or yellow flower?

How am I expected to rack 4 millions for a ship when most green resources are barely worth the time spent? Is there some sort of trick to get huge money or is it just grinding uncommon/rare resources?

>>152116306
To get lots of units, find a planet that has cubes/pearls/orbs lying around on the ground. When you pick one up, you get two sentinels and a dog walker thing on your ass. Find a good spot with lots of them gathered together, fill up your inventory with them without dying, then hop in your ship and fly off. Go and sell them. Ideally, find a shelter that has a trading post inside of it, and gather around it.
As for getting in the 100 million unit range, I have no fucking idea.

i don't know but i sold my first one and had to buy one at the end

nada and polo can still be encountered after turning in the stones
>>
>>152116725
I jumped at least 10 times and still even in super death barren planets I found the same identical cave composition as a tundra or jungle planet.

By the way, I kinda like the idea of having barren, death planets with "no fauna or flora" having the occasional underground cave with plant life everywhere; it seems like life is springing from underground or something like the remnants of surface life moving underground in order to survive.

Cave interiors are generated the same, but there are structural differences in caves to break up the redundancy of winding caverns the more planets you visit. Same goes for terrain in general.

going through days of bullshit really, every few systems you visit, at least one of the 2-6 planets there will have resources you can take that the sentinels hate you for picking up. Denying their line of site is easy enough with the sprint-melee-boost manuever, so I mostly cleared my inventory since its maxed exosuit and then sold to a nearby galactic trade market place.

Rinse and repeat

or you could google "no mans sky trainer" and find a trainer program that lets you get infinite units and easy crafting, wouldnt recommend super speed, as you might fall through the world as its rendering before you.

Or, another way of finding a shiplace with more space would be to find those red beacons on planets and use a bypass chip to search for transmissions, those transmissions should lead to a place where you can do a small puzzle and if you solve the puzzle you can get the location of a downed ship that you have to repair. More likely to get more randomized ships, and I've only ever spotted about 2 ships on my own while slowly cruising around a planet

it has abundant flora, fauna, oceans, floating islands, comfy rainstorms

i can give you easy directions to it, too, because it is literally directly above the galactic center (starting galaxy)

>>
>>152125363
nope
>>
>>152125524

I pirated before I spent money on it. Seems like it wants to be an exploration game, but there isn't anything cool to see. Granted, only a few hours in and been on 2 planets. One was a barren wasteland with slimes, blue skies, and a lot of plants. The one I'm on now has red skies, and is mostly a barren wasteland. Somehow the environment supports life the size of my ship though.

Super glad I didn't let myself get hyped.

small ship is comfy ship
>>
>>152125765

Some worlds can be pretty cool to explore. I found a barren world that had literally nothing on it. No plants, no animals, not even rocks to mine iron. Nothing. Even plutonium was scarce and spread widely apart. There were some pretty cool mesas and tall arches generated, and after I explored a bit, it turns out that the planet spawned Vortex Cubes in it's caves. I made a nice 2 million in 15 minutes of spelunking but I stopped because the caves weren't very big and I could not find ANY outposts to sell my shit. The only place I could find was a floating trade terminal that I randomly found out in the middle of nowhere.

That's the main problem with the game. The terrain generation is so simplistic that there's no reason to actually explore a planet beyond the area around your ship because everywhere will look exactly the same with very small variations. Some planets have wide arches, some have lakes everywhere, but the general gist of it is the same. Rolling hills with occasional small mountains.

Just like Brexit... apart from all the fags who said Britian would be in turmoil are upset it isn't and want a re-vote...

Where as the Brexiteers could see it heading into shit and avoided heaqding into shit just to stay a float in a little less shit... but it's still ultimately crawling up our trouser less and reminds us that no matter what a score is in %'age, some faggots will still be unhappy either way.
>>
>>152126097

I just realized that my post made no fucking sense since I said that they can be cool to explore but they aren't cool to explore so let me explain a bit. Some planets have resources that give you incentive to go looking around them, but a lot of times you just get lucky with finding tall dicks of emeril or whatever other rare mineral you might find. When looking for actual terrain though, every planet is the same. There's no rule as to where materials spawn for the most part, so it's just walking in a direction until you find them. That's why I loved the planet where I found those Vortex Cubes. I knew I could find them only in caves and they were very expensive, so it gave me a reason to go searching around the caves of that world and then gave me a reason to explore around for somewhere to sell them. Sadly, this is a very rare occurrence in this game.
>>
>>152126324
The score was 51%. It's as net as a divide as it gets. Of course people are going to be unhappy. About half of the fucking country, as a matter of fact.

every System has a set number of ships and no new ones will spawn (yes even the crashed ships are the exact same ones you se in the space station)

In GTAIV, you can go into one of the game files and simply change a number in a notepad document to make your AR fire faster.

I heard this games' files are incredibly "bare" and easily tinkered with in a similar fashion. How easy would it be to reduce the pulse engine speed?

It would take you an incredibly long time. Additionally Atlas words are far less important when it comes to other languages, which is saying something.

The Atlas words are really only there for a player who is interested in Atlas enough to want to understand what it's saying for "backstory" reasons. As we all know it is essentially the god of this computerized, generated universe. With someone like Nada outright admitting to be a glitch in the code.

I found some in a deposit too. Looked like a gold/aluminium deposit, except a third as tall. Also in a few flowers. Never seen blue crystals though.
>>
>>152133030
Chrysonite does show up as blue crystals, but they're fairly rare to find. I don't believe it's possible to find crystallized Chrysonite without higher levels of warp drives.

That being said, because you find them as crystals it also means that once you do find a planet with it you can set yourself up pretty nicely. It's also pretty cheap on the market, so you can just buy it from ships at a station in chunks of 30-50 or so.

Several galaxies. Getting to the centre of a galaxy warps you to the outskirts of the next (not another, there's a specific order; You start in euclid then go to hilbert). It's possible there's a final galaxy that actually has different shit in it (there's assets for sandworms and portals being opened but it doesn't actually happen in-game, at least in euclidian space) but I doubt it.
>>
>>152134467
You start on some random planet in the first galaxay, and entering its center warps you to another galaxy. The order of galaxies is the same for everyone. So you can explore a whole universe, but you can only choose which planets to travel to directly, not which galaxies. Like a string with knots in it instead of a box of choclates.

It's a lie.

The world in No Man's Sky is essentially a drawer full of cardboard boxes containing Christmas baubles.

The drawer represents the galaxy, and the boxes represent each solar system. Solar Systems in NMS are just boxes containing a few Christmas bauble planets, with the stars and sun painted on the outside of the box.

The No Man's Sky PC patch notes in full:

Improved AMD Phenom Support:

Thousands of lines of assembly have been rewritten to support AMD CPUs. The game code no longer relies on anything above SSE 2; Havok Physics has also now created new libs. Game is now confirmed working on Phenom CPUs.

Mouse Smoothing:

Smoothing on mouse movement has been improved to prevent hitching or stuttering, and is now adjustable through the Options menu in "Mouse Smoothing." It now defaults to off. If you feel the framerate is "slow" or "lumpy," please make sure that this is turned off (it helps players with sub-30 frames per second).

Improved Performance:

On CPUs with 4 threads or fewer, performance has been improved. On CPUs with 8 threads, performance has also been significantly improved.

Radeon 6xxx:

Added support for this GPU, which doesn't support OpenGL 4.5 fully.

Player Saves:

Help to recover some player saves which had been lost or corrupt.

Alt-Tab has improved:

Some systems/configs were crashing or not pausing correctly on Alt Tab. This should now be resolved.

Shader Caching:

Framerate was initially stuttering due to shaders not being correctly cached by the GPU on some systems. We have replaced the GPU caching system. You may notice some stutter during the Galactic Map intro to the game (the very first time you run), but it should be smoother from then on (this will be fixed in future). This is particularly true on ATI cards.

Max FPS Cap:

On some CPU/GPU configurations, setting Max FPS to 60 or 30 was not giving 60 or 30 FPS (causing stuttering). This has been improved.

Intel GPUs:

The game will now let you know if you are trying to run with an unsupported GPU. This will hopefully flag for some users that their high-end GPU has not been selected. We are working on Intel GPU support.

G-sync:

G-sync has been disabled by default, which was causing an issue for some users.

THE worst case i've had of this was a species of bird that only flew in a straight line.

So it'd spawn, wouldn't circle around etc, just flew in one direction at a ridiculously huge speed (had to melee rocket jump like a mofo just to keep up), and if it got too far away it'd despawn instantly.

Took me like 40 mins to kill and analyze one.

Shit was fucked.

No idea what causes it, but i've experienced it a few times....not 9 times out of 10 though.

It could be some sort of clipping/physics related issue, if the ship is partially "stuck" in something when it lands etc, physics engines love to bork out and launch things when two objects occupy the same space.

I had a creature not long ago running around in the ceiling of a cave, it was pretty awesome because it was leaving dust trails as it ran around so it was easy to follow, and I just ended up wildly blowing chunks out of the ceiling with grenades until it died and fell through.

It was a hilariously buggy moment, but cool nonetheless.

>I was lucky with one of those kinds of buggers because I managed to save just as they were flying above me, so I was able to reload and catch them.

I REALLY feel like they should up the range/accuracy of the analyzer to better deal with birds, especially the buggy ones.

Also I keep having a horrid feeling on some planets that there must be a kiddy sized pool of water somewhere with a single creature in it.

Technically the range should be enough, if you zoom. I've analyzed critters much father away than birds, but for some reason it will always refuse to pick them up.
>>
>>152142112
I recently landed on an islandy/archipelago planet that wound up having three fucking aquatic animals. One species hung out in massive schools, one in packs of three, and the last were giant fucker fish who seemed to have the same fast speed and instant despawning as some particularly bitchy varieties of bird.

Seriously, scanning fauna is a god damn chore sometimes.
>>
>>152142208

Perhaps the hit boxes of the birds are ridiculously tiny?

Because now that you mention it, i've scanned fucking tiny land dwelling creatures from miles away, but birds always give me trouble.

Wait a minute ... on paper, you should:

Is that correct? The HyperDrive device is an upgrade, so it takes +1 inventory slot, right?

>>
>>152144156

yeah chained stuff gets the little glow around their box so you're fine so far. It's hard to screw it up once you hit the full 24 slot versions.

just try not to wall anything off in case you want to stack more of a given option. So for example move the top nad option down to the lower right. Then you could add 4 more bonus mining options if you wanted to. The set up now, you can only add two more with bonus.

but at some point it's rather cheap to just tear it down and move few around. No big deal.

I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable scientific explanation to why this particular creature chose to live underwater. It's definitely thoroughly calculated via multiple complex algorithms taking into account millions of years of evolution.
>>
>>152143870
The starting questline leads you to a transmitter on another planet, inside, an alien of the sector specifically gives you the blueprints for the hyperdrive.
You can still get the blueprints from basically any source of blueprints, if you wound up skipping those steps and buying a ship with a hyperdrive/redeeming the preorder ship. It's a random chance, obviously.

>>152145345
yeah but if you do it that way, a lot of your upgrades only have 1 or 2 connections - the more they have, the more times you stack that multiplicative bonus on the upgrade's base value, so you can make crosses with one very powerful thing in the center getting 4x upgrade bonus, then ensure things on the "edge" of the square get 3x, etc, depending on which upgrades you want to prioritize

microsoft pushed their shitty xbox app to my win10 recently, so I actually found myself using that to take screenshots and capture videos when I'm playing something with a controller, though I usually rely on plays.tv for that... but nothing seems to reliably capture NMS on my setup

Now THAT makes sense, thank you. I was interacting with an Alien inside of an Observatory, stepped out of the building to save THEN got the blueprints when I reloaded that save.

Yesterday, I couldn't get blueprints after the event any more (and couldn't interact with some objects), but restoring a previous save (right after the Alien) so far "solved" the issues for me.

They sold the game on footage that was, wholly, a lie. There are simply so many differences between what was promised in the press by employees, shown in trailers, and implied by the man himself, I can't really see what you're going for here. They're actually still marketing the game on that old footage of a build which simply never existed. This is exactly what Sega did (when in charge of marketing) with Aliens: Colonial Marines, because they had to, in order to push ANY amount of product after Gearbox shit out A:CM. Sony is in charge of marketing this game, Hello Games shit the bed. It is not what was shown, even as recently as footage from July.

I'm still playing the game because I enjoy games that have repetitive tasks as I said here

>How much money do you think human weasel and lying shiatstain Sean personally made from NMS sales?

Hard to say for sure, but i'm guessing A LOT.

Once more concrete figures come out it'll be easier to work out.

How many copies do you think the game has sold?

Steam is hovering around the 700k mark.
GOG is unknown, i'd assume the numbers are extremely low though.
PS4 is apparently the second biggest release for the platform, second only to Uncharted 4 that shifted 2.7 million units in one week.

2 million copies maybe? Possibly More? Lets say it's just 2 Million.

2,000,000 x $60 = $120,000,000

30% of that goes to Steam/Sony/GOG

$120,000,000 - $36,000,000 = $84,000,000

Then tax that at a rate of roughly 35%

(Global average, i'm not sure where exactly they'd be paying tax, presumably the UK, but might be the US through Sony, or they could have something setup in a tax haven like Ireland?)

$84,000,000 - $29,400,000 = $54,600,000

Development cost from what I read was estimated to be less than 10 Million.

$54,600,000 - $10,000,000 = $44,600,000

How much of that remaining 40 odd million goes to Hello Games...no idea, Sony might have had a higher stake than the 30% Publisher Cut + $10 Million for development.

But there's a shit load of cash out there in someones bank account.

Companies lie all the time, so if you're worried about money you wait until people release gameplay videos and read some reviews. You don't buy at launch, ever. If you do and then have issues, wait a couple weeks to see if they will be addressed, else refund. Move onto the next lie.

Sega got sued here despite Gearbox being at fault for the game being shit. Sega's lie here was to salvage what little profit they could. Do you see what i'm getting at? Sony is going to be taking more than Sean's shoes after this fiasco. Just to let you know, this isn't about "money worries," it's factually fraud. Embargoes didn't stop leaks, but they also lied and said those leaks would be nothing like the final product.

The trailers were pre-rendered, in some cases not even gameplay, but video (such as on Late Night with Colbert) and the "build" purported to be shown never existed. It's simply the exact same situation as A:CM.

Yeah I did. I wasn't looking forward to space fighting as I reasonably didn't expect it to match E:D's space combat, which I sank fucking weeks into doing nothing but bounty hunting. Game came out and there's some light space combat. It's fine. His game was obviously casual as fuck from the get go so if you were looking forward to the combat elements I feel bad for you.

Orbital mechanics, physics in general, ok. They lied but it literally has no effect on how I play the game now. Like it could be cool but it's so fucking unrelated to the core of the game who the fuck cares. They pushed exploration, that's what I got and I'm happy.

AutoHotKey

http://pastebin.com/pw9LwwGm
you can change y to any key, also 1000 ms sleep would be enough, but sometimes I directly press it after entering so the added delay handles stuttering and freezes. Also disabled Windows key here because that bugs the game for me, alt+tab works better.

It's beyond way too thinly, this content would be spread thinly with orders of magnitude less planets than 18 quintillion. That might be bullshit anyway, but even anything over a few billion (never venturing far enough to even approach trillions) would still be spreading what little there is here thin. They simply didn't input enough original possibilities (and the probabilities are messed up, too) to be anywhere near here.

Presumably he means they just blame consoles for a half-assed game being half assed. I'm exclusively PC, but nothing about the PS4's hardware is at fault for the sheer number of things that were in trailers that aren't in the game. The current poster in here false flagging as some master race cuck tried to say the PS4's hardware is at fault for there being no large space battles. Even what is fully implemented in the game, in terms of space battles, though, is completely dumbed down and half assed. As
>>152152868
said, you can't even take out the huge sentinel ship that pops up if you keep fighting sentinels in space. Sony didn't make Sean completely give up on any sort of combat (either in space or on ground) it's all there, just unfinished or deliberately half-assed.

They always were. But the upshot is that for MP games you generally have the same hardware across the playerbase. Additionally, consoles are technically cheaper for the processing power you get out of them vs even a budget rig. Not that guy, but you're in a ship that can travel at FTL speeds, go through black holes, and turn on a dime when you upgrade it in a space dogfight. For some reason launch thrusters (despite working to a lesser extent than they do in the real world) are huge fuel hogs. None of that makes sense, and is an arbitrary limitation from the developers to encourage more tedious resource hunting. A mining laser meaning everything is easy, doesn't mean that now-easy activity is fun.

But none of that matters to my point: Even if you managed a class action lawsuit, it's over a definable, refundable product. Most lawyers would tell you to just get your money back, and even if a class action lawsuit got any traction it's unlikely you'd get more back than you paid for.

So again, point is, you can either play what we've got or play nothing at all. I'd certainly prefer the 100% feature-rich pie-in-the-sky there's-no-way-this-could-actually-have-been-a-thing NMS we were hyped up about, but that's not on the table.

Fucking loving some of these planets.

What are the chances that after a year or so of updates this game ends up in a somewhat decent state?

I'd love something with the structure of Freelancer, basically a space sim-lite, but with the planets of No Man's Sky.

Because it didn't, and he just half-assed everything? What is in the game is broken and unfinished, but they certainly seem to be comfortable with calling that stuff "completed." I'm sure there were some hardware restrictions, and you notice most of those graphically, but fundamentally what is there is mediocre. Sony didn't make Sean: Shoehorn shitty mechanics from survival sandbox games into his exploration-romp, completely forget to flesh out in-ship or on-foot combat at all, and fundamentally fail to provide enough original variations to sustain a procedurally generated universe this large. I exclusively play on PC, but this is retarded.

For me, the biggest let down was the dumbed down crafting.

The marketing footage is old. It's the same situation as A:CM. None of what I posted had to do with interviews/normal PR "soft" lies/etc. The majority of that megathread, by the way, was trailer footage. Nothing like that ended up in the final product.

Sega settled that lawsuit, so it would have gone through. I really don't even think you remember the situation i'm talking about and are now just trying to handwave away the mere mention of it. I'll just leave it at that though, because maybe you are this naive about how the world works.

>No, I'm disregarding it because your proposed idea doesn't actually address the core issue that prompted this conversation in the first place, i.e. you can either play what we got or play nothing at all.

Because it's a third option which has proven in the past to work, given the exact same situation. Go on Steam or anywhere else you can buy this game, (probably even on EB Games/Gamestop's site) they're still using the old footage from e3/pre-release "build," it's the exact same situation. A single updated gameplay trailer with the final product would satiate this legally, but this is a third option at the moment.
>>
>>152156178
Because orbital mechanics were not something that sold the game for me. I wanted the exploration. Also anon got it right
>>152156391
I didn't care about orbital mechanics. It would have been a treat, but something I probably wouldn't have appreciated more than once or twice before forgetting about it all together, just like the things like Windows, atmosphere-to-space loading and being able to see planets and space stations from the surface of other planets. I'm not going to waste energy bitching about something like that when the game is very enjoyable to me regardless.

Not in terms of what game you play, which again, is my entire point.
You're still either playing what you have or playing nothing at all. No amount of lawsuit will change the finished product.

There are other games though, I figured you were actually aware of this. You seem to frame this as an issue about "games" as well and not just the general principle of what fraud actually is. I'm not sure why this is, but oddly enough you haven't seen stuff like A:CM again until now. Sony might not take kindly to the threat of this happening to them. Sony could pressure the developer. Even standing to your original reason, this is strides better than accepting fraud.

I'm still not sure what you don't understand about the situation, pressures such as this could easily end in them proving they were held back or rushed/finishing the game/adding features which were cut/finishing the game/or even just getting Sony sued because they choose not to update their marketing footage. That's probably the best thing to want out of the game, then. The rest is pretty anemic -- combat's super flimsy, most of the gameplay centers around resource gathering and expanding your inventory, shit like that. But if you just want to chill out and drift the universe for a bit, see strange things, it's pretty good for that.

I spent a few hours each on my first worlds. It's relaxing and I enjoy taking my time. A lot of people seem to just pop down to the surface, see what resources are about, and then leave. But I prefer wandering around, popping in to outposts here and there, and checking each solar system pretty thoroughly.
Obviously it's not perfect, and you'll see repetition over time, but I think there's still enough to be worthwhile, at least for what I want out of it.
The comfiness is nice. Wandering around is nice. I'd say give it a shot.

I feel a bit like Spaceman Spiff.

Which is what lead to the sudden outbreak of "EVERYTHING IS ADHD," despite those symptoms just being how kids usually act. It's diagnosed wrongly, and much too early... Everywhere, not just here. ADD is the far more sound theory, and the one that's also for some odd reason found less often. As I said, I hope nobody falls into this trap.

The symptoms are universally recognized. Kids act like that everywhere. How big is resource loss in blowing those large resource formations up with grenades compared to taking them apart by laser?

Also, do homing grenades not work? I stuck homing upgrade next to my launcher but they fly out the same.
>>
>>152160939
ADD is typically found less easily because people affected by it aren't as obvious, largely due to lethargy in place of hyperactivity

They both stem from fucked up brain chemistry though, and the #1 problem with it is that there's not an effective way to actually determine levels of brain chemistry, so the diagnosis of both issues is essentially a doctor's opinion, not a medical fact.
>>
>>152161935
>How big is resource loss in blowing those large resource formations up with grenades compared to taking them apart by laser?
It's ultimately the same, or close to it, but grenade explosions aren't really bigger than the laser.
Just upgrade your laser terrain destruction + cooldown and you'll tear them apart much faster.

As someone who genuinely enjoys this game, I think the thing they objectively fucked up on the hardest was the exclusion of large creatures, and creature generation in general. Pretty much every thing you find is one of about 10 different models. Dinos, hippos, jumping worm things, jumping alien head things, pic related things, etc. everything posted in these threads I've seen before. It's almost like they made a handful of creatures manually, and the only thing that's procedurally generated about them are things like spines, color and other superficial features. There are no 30 deep heards of roaming snake headed cats. No spider velociraptors. No 30 foot tall flying dogs. Im not sure how they fucked up so hard on this but even as someone who thinks people shit on this game far too much, I think they thoroughly dropped the ball in that field. Creatures and landscape make up the vast majority of this games core selling points. Landscape is debatable but the creatures it's like they got a quarter of the way to where they could be and just said "man this hard, let's just ezmode this shit."
