Y'know. I think what bothers me the most about Archfiend is that it sounds like 4kids shit. Except it actually IS 4kids shit.

For Yugioh, the monster type in English is called 'Fiend' because they didn't want kids playing a card game with demons in it right? So, by changing it to Archfiend, it actually ends up sounding... immature. Because censoring demon with fiend was a really common thing. It gives the impression of censoring a game meant for people over the age of 18.

Wasn't it censored in DQ that way, for much the same reason? Because they didn't want a game with demons in it in fear of moral guardians? And that's what's being referenced by calling them Archfiends.

The problem is, in Ranceverse, they serarate Demon and Devil into 2 different types. The word Archfiend (or Archdevil) is usually referring to Satan, a creature that is directly opposed to the god. In Ranceverse, the one with the same role is not Demon King, but Rathowm - the Devil King. I'm ok if they use Archfiend for Rathowm, because Fiend can be seen as high class Devil, but for Demon King? Absolutely not.

This is wrong, it's just EOPs tend to notice name differences because they stand out. In my experience with these game translations, there's always a lot of underlying meaning and characterisation present in the Japanese text that gets completely discarded by the translator, but since EOPs have no way of knowing what the original says, they just see a grammatically correct sentence and assume it's a good translation. It's part of what makes the job so easy.

Devil in ranceverse is doing exacttly the same by giving human wish to steal their souls, so the definition of Satan or Archfiend will be perfect to refer the king of devils.

Demon army in ranceverse are monsters, and the king of monster in many Japanese games or mangas/novels is the Vampire King (for example, castlevania franchise or the Monogatari series), which is easily seen in Ranceverse as Demon Kings has too many feature of the vampires.

Oni is something like ogre or troll in western mythology. Strong, but relatively stupid being. Depicted as muscular blue or red humanoid with "oni mask" face and horns, armed with club and often wearing japanese armor.
Fiend is demonic being, often incorporeal, with black and or red flames to depict its hellish origins. Is very cunning, and deceives humans into committing sins.
