You need to calm down and reevaluate exactly what it is that you're saying. I never expect anyone to carry me, and if nobody brings flash bombs, the Rathalos still dies.

It's not absolutely mandatory that you minmax your inventory for every monster. You don't even need to bring Cleanser for Nakarkos despite the fact that it can technically put bones all over you. You just have to play well, and then you don't need to waste time and resources making a bunch of items to compensate.

I tried out hunting horn a bit in 3U but couldn't get a handle on how my hunter was compelled to flail the thing around. aerial HH seems a good way to consistently hit the monster, which now gets double notes in addition to actually doing damage, and gives the chance for mounts/KOs on tall heads. does that sound about right or is there some secret reason why aerial HH is garbage? other than being HH in the first place

I can switch out Weakness Exploit for attack up S but I don't know if the little boost is worth it. I also keep hearing different info on how big the boost Weakness Exploit is. Some say it's the new meta, others say it's shit.

With a 180 raw weapon and with CE+2, your effective raw is 211.5 with WE, while it's only 199.5 with AuS. And the higher the weapon raw, the better WE is. That is, if you consistently hit weak spots.

Monsters typically have spots near their head and near their rear (tail usually) that count as 'weakspots' for WE.

On weapon classes like SA, CB, GS, LS, and Hammer, who typically are incentivized to go to either the head or tail, there's little reason to pick AuX over WE, unless you like how one particular set looks over another.

there's a couple decent ones. crit draw/crit boost and the tigrex GS is the biggest raw with no blunt and white sharpness. you can also use silverwind narga for 100% affinity on weakpoints and skip crit draw. blunt's not bad but I don't think ever optimal.

What's the strategy with long type gunlances? I'm new to this weapon. I've pretty much just been starting off heavy on the shelling and using full burst when nobody is close by and then using wyvern fire when I get toward the end of the red section to lock in. Then just stabbing and slamming with a shell here and there until wyvern fire is ready to do it again.

Pierce shot is good for larger monsters (not necessarily long monsters, if you can't always hit them length-wise), and for any monster when you just can't be bothered to give a fuck.

Normal is just as hard-hitting, but you actually have to aim that shit. It also benefits much more from WE, because unless the monster is composed of weak spots, Pierce will only hit one or two in its series of hits.

Adept isn't all it's cracked up to be. Consider branching out. I still prefer Evade Extender.

I've failed a few from just mashing a before i realized it was bucking. a few monsters start their buck animations really zoomed in and its easy to mistake it for a pause for a second, which is usually enough for it to eat half the meter. also once because i completely blanked on uragaan's chinslam after every roar. psych-out green like that can do it if you haven't ridden the monster before.

So I got the quest done and got my hunter art. For whatever reason or bug I didn't get it after I unlocked HR.
I had to look for a hub that was running it and I still can't select that quest myself now that I've completed it.

Normal/Pierce Up are incredibly efficient damage up skills that are built-in to a lot of armor sets, and cheap to get if they're not. I forget the exact numbers, but for the points they require, you can't afford to not have them.

TrueShot is less important for HBG. Once you get a bit better, it's almost impossible to be out of critical distance. Better for Pierce.

I should mention that when I said Adept was overrated, I was talking about Pierce. Normal Shot is much more like a slightly longer melee weapon, since the critical distance is fairly close up, and you'll get much more use out of Adept. That said, Evade Extender is still gold for both.

I would advise against it. The clip size is pretty shitty, but most importantly, it's not going to be any fun learning to deal with a deviation. That means your shots are going to be veering off to the side. It's a powerful gun, but I don't think you'll like learning with it.

The La Foi is largely considered to be the best Normal gun in the game. Queen's Longfire is good too, if you just want to shoot things with a big, goddamned rifle.

What are good skills for lbg in mhgen? Are there any regular sets that are worth making or is it mostly mixed stuff?

Oh, and to add, just like any weapon you'll want to give it some time to sink in. If you're having trouble aiming every shot, don't. Just shoot the monster. Most monsters' heads are at gun level anyways, you very rarely have to aim that much. You'll eventually get better at aiming on the fly anyways. When you do, I'd recommend using the scope to do so; I personally find the TPS cam a little floaty and disorientating, but find out what works best for you.

I did the maths one day and iirc load up does add a good damage, but it also depends on your playstyle. If you don't power shot much, maybe it's not worth it, true shot up is better in this scenario.
