Maybe Urogue or Rakuyo to max. Wish I had Squard.

PSY is the typing that throws me off the most of all the ones in the game at the moment, so many odd, niche units.

Quite a lot, it gets you a ton early on.
The story does get much harder though, around Sky Island you need actual cohesive teams (Unless you have Sengoku or to a lesser extent g3) but you'll have made tons of gems by then.

Because he's only present for a full-board of matching orbs which is simply not good enough of a unit space. For actual game content like raids or colosseum you will ALWAYS end up having to bring one or two subs, sometimes three, like GPU or Perona to simply survive.
In those situations, Wapol is of course the first unit to get removed since he's the one that is needed the least. It's nice to dream about having a team build entirely around one huge burst of damage though.

There's very few things you can't win in one, or two, turns.
Wapol/Kuma removes the need for an orb bonus as well.
This means across two subs, you have a full orb combo and an orb enhance, one with amazing stats and one with subpar stats.
Essentially this means saying Wapol has no place means a bad stats sub that gives a full board is a bad unit.
But yeah, like basically all special combos, there's some things you just need too much utility for.

After watching Zeenigami's video I concluded that Kuma might actually be pretty easy. You can stall infinitely on the 4th stage and you have 4 turns to do 3.2m damage to him, and even after the 4 turns he only does 9.2k damage which gives you another 4 turns.
Though I don't know how much the characters disappearing would affect damage, but with mihawk doing 960k fucking damage it should be easily doable anyway.

Is it worth bringing a unit that deals damage to one unit like Arlong? I can't seem to do enough damage to pull off a proper combo with Log Luffy's CA like I could with prisoner Bon Clay's fortnight, and I'm pretty sure Trebol combined with Sunny's ability would completely nuke down the boss stage.

3D2Y Chopper is a neat PSY captain to use if you have maxed out other units and use a better booster captain. (For stages that give you antiorbs/int boards, obviously. Very niche, but fun.)

Otherwise, bring Uroge & Enel up to like 70 or something. People obsess over max level, but not many units actually have amazing growth like that. The majority of units are plenty usable at 70-80.

If there's a half stam 60 stamina raid up, 1200 stamina can get you ~420000 exp which is enough for a full level up until level 371 assuming a negligible difference between the calculated and actual values for xp per level required.
