What are your favorite matchups in any fighting game? Personally I really like Ryu vs Guile in ST and Oro vs Urien in 3S

I don't want to sound discouraging but it's recommended to start with Ryu because he has all the basic tools and easy inputs and it's easier to learn with him and translate your knowledge to other characters than to start out with something more difficult or less intuitive.

That's all up to what you want to get out of playing fighting games, if you would rather not play at all than not play Ibuki, then feel free to play her knowing that you're walking upwards on a more steep road than most others.
I have about 500 hours on street fighter and consider Ryu my main but I'm also playing Ibuki and I lose more than I win when I'm usually 50/50.

What are you doing in the training room? Training combos can only be useful so far when you're new and the difference in damage between doing a grab or an optimal combo is infinitely less to knowing when you can punish and you can't.

Because that's what you're gonna get as long as you're trying to improve at any level

What I say to ppl trying to git gud is that when you decide to do something you need to know and be ready for how the situation is gonna play out
That's the only way you can win against someone who has mashed around longer than you have.

So before the next time you go online, find out what your bnb is, make sure its reliable for you (practice different ranges and starters) and find out what happens afterwards. And everytime something unexpected happens I want you to find out what it was, how it happened and figure out how it's gonna play out.

If you do this for 3-4 weeks I'm pretty sure you'd be swimming around in Gold League based on my experiences

I've noticed that my biggest problem is to get any real damage in with her, I can usually hit people since everyone just mashes buttons in bronze but I can't confirm it into anything since my reactions aren't fast enough yet. I'm getting the same problem, most of my damage comes from LP-MP-HP target combo into raida and most of the time when I do the command dash I'm not sure which side I end up so even if I can get a hit in it doesn't lead to much.
What I find really useful and works often for me is her forward MK overhead that can be canceled from standing MP and can be linked into LP, after that I do ex kunai and try to get a juggle.

It's very saddening hearing thst KoF XIV has good netcode. I was hoping SNK would stand up to netplayers and tell them that they're not important and don't matter. I'm a person that's kind of struggled with temper issues all my life. I've gotten better at controlling it or not being as mad when I do get mad, but it's still there.
I love SFV as I think it's a fun game but it unfortunately brings out the worst of me sometimes. Maybe part of it is I think I'm way better than I actually am. Maybe I just don't know the game and never will. Part of me just wants to stop playing it completely and just play 3S but I enjoy this game too.
When I hop online and play I come out not satisfied and just plain upset. I get mad at rollback, opponents mashing buttons and winning (even though I know how to beat it), I get especially mad at facing Alex, etc. I'll take a break and feel better, sure, but then I come back from a few minutes of cool down and I get salty again. I love this game and I love SF but it just doesn't feel worth getting mad at anything I lose to. Part of me feels like I'm more getting mad at myself but I digress.
I've gotten dangerously close to getting so salty I ragequit. I don't want to reach that point. What should I do? How do I stop getting mad at everything that makes me lose?

This isn't a street fighter problem dawg, it's a you problem

I used to get mad at street fighter, pretty much around the time I started getting "good", because I felt like I shouldn't be losing to x tactic or y tactic. I felt like I should have more points or I should be winning more games

I went from having fun and learning to hitting this wall where I expected to be better than I was and was mad as often as I was enjoying myself. You have to realize that getting upset isn't going to help you get better, so if you really, truly want to improve, you have to work on keeping calm. That's something you need to be mindful of all the time, even if you only ever get mad during street fighter, if something sets you off even a little bit, really examine that shit.

Ask yourself WHY you are mad, and if being mad will help rectify that situation. It almost never will. The biggest leap in my SF improvement came when I stopped getting upset about losing, started watching my replays and thinking about what I'm doing wrong

except that when you lose, it is your fault alone, and move on from there. If you accept 100% that it is in your control, you can then find out how to fix it

You need to figure out what YOU specifically are doing wrong in that fight.

It's hard to admit that you're doing something wrong, but you are, and it absolutely, for certain, is something you can fix. You just have to know what to fix

watch your replays, or better yet post them here. Look for things you do repeatedly. Are you anti airing enough? He gets HUGE damage off of jump ins. Are you optimizing your damage? Are you over committing to unsafe moves?

There is a solution to your problem, but you have to understand what your problem is first

That's the first unexpectedly nice thing they've done for me I think. I organize tournaments so I feel obligated to have all that shit unlocked so no one is triggered they can't use Faust color 22 or whatever, so I'd figured Capcom would make me bite the pillow one way or another.
Wouldn't count on seeing Urien in September since he didn't say anything, but maybe he's just scared shitless to mention anything about a character until it's 100% locked in, or they're holding a trailer thing at an upcoming tournament.

It's not like the combos and visuals look good or cool and most of the game is just poking anyway because Capcom decided it'd be a good idea to turn the whole game into a strictly defensive game with offense being extremely punishable.

You can read and watch every single game of SF:V and GGXrd that has been streamed but you will still be shit because a lot of combos and strategies revolve around muscle memory and good automatic reactions before you can even start actively thinking about how to fight during a match. Most players in the FGC right now genuinely do not know how to play the games they are playing and watching the whole SFV EVO tournament only proves it. There was like 8 hours worth of footage and most matches were extremely one sided, you could tell who was going to win before 20 seconds passed if that much time was even allotted in the match.

I'm not saying Fighting games are bad, i'm saying they're boring as shit and once the whole GGXrd and SF:V "new" feeling finally wears out we're going to have a shit ton of people drop out because the simple fact of the matter is that most of new entrants are just there to try and fit in and they don't actually have the patience or willpower to learn how to actually play the game.
