It's a long Tl;DR post from some random but he's fairly correct. Twin Saga isn't really a terrible game it just really didn't need to be made.

The entire game is "Chibified aura kingdom with simplified classes". There really is no justification for the dungeon contents to not have just been an expansion for a-k.

I'm playing Twin Saga and it's fairly decent but I can already tell I'll be going back to aura kingdom soon.

I miss /akg/. Aura Kingdom came the closest to feeling like a true anime game. One that actually looks like anime and not the sort of weird anime/western/realistic style fusion that every other fucking asian mmo uses these days.

They all have a population of sorts. There is the /vg/ definition of dead which is not popular enough to have it's own general and then true ded which is empty servers.

Twin Saga and Aura Kingdom have plenty of people to enjoy the game with. Mabinogi still lives on. Onigiri is dying. Flyff is dead.

Aura Kingdom is still very much alive both the private server and the regular server. It had it's own general for quite a while.

It's the main reason why twin saga is getting so much flak. It would be like if Blizzard made a new MMO and it was just a shittier version of WoW with shrunken down characters. That's essentially the relationship between twin saga and aura kingdom right now. I'm almost positive that Aura kingdom earns aeria the most money too.

It's also the only game aeria has on steam with a positive review.

Yo, for Elsword players, I'm faced with a dilemma twixt ice burners.
On one hand, ETS2 Aisha looks fucking amazing, but its stats are lacklustre. On the other, Thanatos looks ugly, but its stats are very good for the whole set.
Which would you go for? I'm probably going to go for ETS2, but it's difficult to stop thinking about the opportunity cost.

Basically BHS ( The developer ) is retarded and always removes content with every patch that adds content, sometimes resulting in the game actually having less content than pre-patch. The content it gets replaced with isn't always good, which is why Tera goes through many downtimes.

Coming soon ( Literally 1 day ) Is the removal of crusades. Crusades and skycastles arguably saved Tera, it was stable competitive content that actually encouraged players to gitgud and do high end dungeon runs. Playerbase noticeably improved from a near dead state when they were implemented over a year ago.

And what are they replacing it with? Well for now, nothing. We dont get squat till next patch in a month at least. What it gets replaced with is a GvG system that from what we can tell so far is inferior with less interesting rewards.

So basically they are deleting the strongest incentive in the game and not doing anything else.
Community is already dwindling.

Albeit superior in content, I can't say much about the amount of players since the good ones in the /vg/ guild has been less active or has gone to greener pastures.
The combat is tab targetting, which I can honestly say is less exciting than tera's or dragon nest's.
It's casual as fuck so I recommend it if you want a comfy time sink.

You can casually play most MMOs. I think you mean comfy. Crafting/Gathering in FFXIV is comfy and far more fun than the game's abysmal combat. I daresay its the most fun I've ever had with crafting. It's comfy because you can do it at your own pace and still feel adequately rewarded - guildhests make it easy for a casual player to keep up XP-wise to a grind-heavy player.

Yeah, FFXIV is sub based. It's actually oneof my cheapest games though, since I only spent around 120 on it for 1500 hours playtime.

Haven't played Mabinogi, but I hear from my bro that Black Desert Online is also a comfy game where crafting and gathering feels like its own thing rather than a salad side to the rack of ribs combat. Haven't played either so can't confirm.

There aren't any more comfy MMOs that I can think of, as most have very shallow crafting or gathering systems. I'll post back if I do.

Oh you are right, the game is fantastic. I played some of the chinese server myself. Totally ignoring the payment system it's easily the best MMO to come out in the last 5 years, doing everything Tera and BnS do right with less of the problems ( I'm still amazed the game handles so well on my semi-toaster )

But...it's my fucking dot com.

If we care enough we can always storm their suggestion forums with "Please don't make it pay2win or we wont pay for subscriptions" ...at least that's what I do. I'm a eurofag Tera player and yet I use a NA VPN for ping to the NA version. I pay enmasse for the elite purely out of respect that enmasse has the sense to not make the NA version of Tera pay2win trash. Gameforge can go suck a thousand of Merkels rapefugee dicks and die in a trash heap.

Old Mabi's general community was a shit hole from what I've experienced, especially on Mari server. The old 4chan community was better than the davido-kuns that seem to populate town squares with shitty bard songs taken off mml websites. It was impossible to get anywhere talking to randoms in-game. The forums were shit tier too, with discussions of strategy basically falling down to Crit Windmills + Nao stones, and anything else just warranted having egomaniacs curse you down without repercussions.

Revelation online actually does it correctly though, meaning the action option really does change the combat.

In bless all it does is let you select targets with mouselook instead of mouseclick, and you still have to tab target or else your attacks won't do damage.

In one word, Blesses active combat option is "Fake".

Why doesn't every MMO have class swapping? It's pretty stupid trying to expect a community to stay active long-term when sometimes the only way you can make a party of 5 people that are online is if you get 5 dps with no healer or tank. Class swapping makes for a much more fluid and lively in-game culture and encourages people to not be completely fucking ignorant about how other classes' mechanics work.

Remember how every class had common skills and class-unique skills? Like how all tanks (yellow classes) could taunt, but only the warrior could group taunt, etc. Mimic could use any of the class-unique skills from any class in any combination, just not the shared ones. The first one would work if you could still deal damage in the form of dots, but with restrictions. Then you just have to work together to counteract that with buffs/debuffs/heals.

The trading/economy MMO sounds a little too close to shitty browser-based tycoon games on the surface, but if you put it in an MMO setup that'd be neat. I remember that DOMO had a merchant class where your strength was dictated by how much money you had. Even without combat it would be fun where you had to explore and gather materials just like in MMOs, and the only thing that mattered was being able to be the best trader. There would be no way to sell to NPCs, no default prices on everything, haggling and mastering the barter system would be mandatory skills to be able to succeed.

If you really want to get fancy with that one, open up all sorts of ways for complex economic systems to form up, starting with people trying to sell insurance on one end to pulling ponzi schemes on the other, all the way to integrated global economies involving specialized sectors of workers who have various levels of economic freedom, while still being player-driven. Guild warfare would be something like hostile takeovers in the stock market or something.
