It was never ported. If someone shows SP the examples of inaccuracies and asks him nicely he probably would do it.

I think you can count the amount regulars here who's actually using upstream mednafen on one hand, so you might have to wait a while to see if any of them are willing to share their configs.

>If he thinks it's just pedantic shit like bsnes-accurate vs bsnes-balanced of course he won't bother.

Yeah, he's really been keeping SNES cores at minimum, some variety couldn't hurt.
>>
>>151772727
There are no significant regressions (a handful of edge cases are not significant, especially when the code that fixed them is questionable from a performance standpoint) and there are significant improvements like hires res rendering. I bet standalone Mednafen has more input lag too since it doesn't have GPU Hard Sync or Frame Delay...

Only die-hard Mednafen fans are actually using Mednafen the application, most people are just using the relevant emulation cores from it inside something else.
>>
>>151773927
>Also the BlueMSX port is pretty much abandoned (same as the emulator upstream).
That's too bad. BlueMSX standalone was my go-to for MSx emulation, but it hasn't seen any updates in years and has issues now. Was hoping it could make a big comeback in RA. At least MSX emulates very well in MAME.
>Go pester the OpenMSX team to port it to libretro
Sounds like a god idea, but I thought most emu devs wanted nothing to do with RA.

Quick sanity check; I'm using the following emulators. How wrong am I?

SNES - Snes9x

GB/C - Gambatte (was using VBA-M but the speed-up function was too fast)

It has somewhat high requirements.

My stock 8350 can barely run full speed, but the only time it hasn't is strangely the FMVs in Mega Man 8 which runs like 1 fps too slow.

LOL, says some loser bitch here who literally doesn't have a line of code he can call his own.

> Only 1964 has proper overclocking support as it has a fork that was specifically made to play Goldeneye and Perfect Dar

Stop falling for retarded "marketing hype" from some retarded 1964 dev loser. What he probably meant by that was just "VI Overclock", which mupen64 libretro already does.

Now shut your faggot bitch ass up.

> Why would you bother with it when it has a worthless GTE hack? If you're going for hardware acceleration why not get the best?

Maybe because

1) you were proven to be a wrong faggot, since libretro DOES have it, and

2) it's open source and people are meant to IMPROVE ON IT instead of just talking shit and complaining about it on some useless anonboard here that attracts only losers and rejects in society?

>>151795412
Widescreen hacks are essentially game specific memory edits. The PCSX2 method isn't exactly harder than the PJ64 one. You just need to download a file.
>>
>>151795581

So at one point it's 'too hard, too complex' and at another time it's 'baby tier, anyone can run it without any emulation knowledge'.

>Stop falling for retarded "marketing hype" from some retarded 1964 dev loser. What he probably meant by that was just "VI Overclock", which mupen64 libretro already does.
Person who actually knows what they're talking about here.

The custom 1964 build with the mouse injector actively screws with Perfect Dark's timings in memory to prevent the game capping itself at 30fps, as it is prone to do for whatever reason. It uses a combination of the counter factor 1 hack and this memory modification to make the game run at "60fps".

Tampering with PD's timing has a number of side effects including music cues failing to trigger correctly. DESU, people are better off waiting for Xenia to be fully compatible with XBLA PD.

Possible but difficult, since the PSX doesn't have the concept of vertex arrays. Finding a decent heuristic to isolate the individual meshes would be challenging. Even more if you want to follow the animations.

I was thinking about that to enable model replacement but I can't really imagine how that would work without game specific hacks.

Thats the post processing filter for cutscenes in Yakuza 2.
Fiddle with texture filtering options and skipdraw. Compare the images between software and hardware modes to see the difference. I think that cutscene looks like that because its a flashback which is why ask you to compare it between the renderers.

>>

It doesn't but its not like the game runs at its target framerate 100% of the time.
Overclocking is for when the game is dropping below frame limit. It was pretty jarring first time around when I actually tried the original framerate option in the libretro core for it as I was used to the mess that was PJ64

Maybe shitty American consumer CRTs, but there are some CRT that display more than that. And higher end CRTs have configurable over/underscan settings.

Some translation hacks have to expand the textboxes into the non-safe edges of the screen to fit English text, too. Those would be cut off with large overscanning

Anyone up for a slow defacing of the wiki so wikia hotpockets eaters don't notice before it's too late? Like an article a day or so, just replacing all text with complete nonsense.

Saturn has a terrible library. Ignore most 3D games and J-rpgs. They're mostly trash.

Good Saturn exclusives:

>Panzer Dragoon
>Panzer Dragoon Zwei
>Saturn Bomberman
>Assault Suits Lyvenos 2
>Fighters Megamix

Good arcade ports:
>Daytona USA
>Virtual Fighter 2
>Sega Rally Championship
>many shooters
>many fighters

Better than PS1:
>Most 2D games (if there's two versions, go with the Saturn typically)

Interesting games:

>Bulk Slash
>Wachenroder
>Astal
>Burning Rangers
>Virtual On

>Is the Saturn version of SoTN really as bad as people say?

Yes. It has slowdown, more loading screens, less graphical effects. the new areas are short, and the enemies really clash with the art style of the standard game. The ghosts are poorly animated example and look cliche. There's a tree that is very cartoony face, which doesn't fit at all with the rest of the game.

Iga, co-director for the game says it's trash:

>I understand why fans who've never played the Saturn version would be interested in those features, but I really, really don't feel good about them. I couldn't put my name on that stuff and present it to Castlevania fans. —Koji Igarashi, June 2007, on the Saturn port[23]

How hard would it be for libretro cores to output interlaced media, which the front end then de-interlaces? Wouldn't this be the most logical way to do it? You could then choose the various de-interlacing methods that you want.

Right now, it just uses saw-tooth as default and you can't change that unless you use a shader.

It's nto that bad. but it sure as hell isn't a FF7 sequel. It's just some shooter set in a new universe with new characters. That does not look like the odl Midgar I remember.

Square totally has no clue why FF7 was popular, and everything after it failed to recapture the magic.
>>
>>151891368
It's not that bad. It's nowhere near as good as FF7 or the hack n' slashes released around that time such as DMC3 either. It also has a pretty bad story all things considered since it's a part of the FF7 universe, and Vincent is a completely irrelevant side character (even Yuffie is more important than him because of Kingdom Hearts). It also has no replayablility and a horrible multiplayer mode (that didn't even make it to the NA release because of how bad it was), but all things considered, people give it way more hell than they should which kinda makes it a hidden gem despite holding the FF7 title.

>Square totally has no clue why FF7 was popular, and everything after it failed to recapture the magic.
Are you trying to imply that the FF7 remake split into three parts for no reason other than money that's been confirmed to remove a shit load of content anyways and looks more bland and generic than anything I've ever seen in my life isn't going to recapture the magic? Are you crazy? Didn't you pay attention to the FF13 battle system it uses? It's gonna be great!

The thing is, FF7 is kind of taking anime styles of the 80's and 90's, throwing them into a blender. If you watch 80's cyberpunk OVAs and films, you'll get it. All the FF7 sequels lack that aestetics and style though. It's not the same universe.

Dirge of Cerberus's characters and monsters often look more at home in FFX rather than FF7. Mechanical design and world design is totally differnet. Look at this dude and tell me he's not an FFX character.

And the remake is going for high realism. Which just looks awful. You have this hyper realistic world, and this sikey haired guy with an absurd sword running through it. It does not gel well at all.

Welcome to messarch, enjoy the ride
>>
>>151897660
>>151897806
FBA is an older version of FBA, not sure which one. FBA-SVN is the newest version of FBA. FBA-CPS1, FBA-CPS2, and FBA-NeoGeo only play games for those particular boards, and mainly exist because they're easy to port to other platforms like the 3DS and Vita.

You want to use SVN or the stable version depending on your ROM sets

For Super Nintendo, you want bsnes-mercury-balanced. If your PC can't run that at full speed, then you want SNES9x. You could also go to murdlord's blog and download bzsnes if you play a lot of Super Mario World ROM hacks.

"Vulkan driver extremely buggy and slow and makes the newer N64 Vulkan-based core (ParaLLEl — more like ParaLOLOL) a slow, laughable, crashy mess when compared to the solid, just-works Mupen64Plus."

Sorry but this instantly discredits him.

It's not TinyTiger and other devs' fault that this guy literally doesn't have a frame of reference about Vulkan and that most likely it's nvidia fucking something up on the driver side in a recent driver update, AMD being AMD or Intel only maintaining two driver guys to develop for Mesa that Vulkan is still not all there yet. GPU companies keep dropping the ball hard and hard and hard, and whatever stupid bullshit they do ends up being shifted downwards to the userland app maker as if they are supposedly "not getting their shit together".

Honestly, the guy has no frame of reference on Vulkan and it's not as if there is a wealth of Vulkan-ready software out right now. RetroArch was literally available for Vulkan on Day One. There are currently 5 fucking games available for Vulkan as-is, one of the 5 being a Vulkan port of Quake done by an id Software dev himself. Give some fucking credit where it's due for being able to duke it out with the big boys with development budgets exceeding millions.

And of course, this guy doesn't have a lick of programming talent to actually do something about any of these issues, all he can do is throwing stones.

He has already shown multiple times that he doesn't care about his fanbase and that he doesn't honor any commitments like actually releasing those boxart scans or even maintaining an OSX port when he was sent the hardware because he begged for a Macbook.

Simply put, he doesn't care, and that trifliing $2500 he got from Hyperkin now (probably the most amount of money he ever got) has made him 'thirsty' for more money.

If someone played through it and couldn't find any issues.

what's the difference?

>>151905320
There are plenty of games on their wiki that have no listed issues but are still rated 4/5 and not perfect.
>>
>>151905407
Look at the character model, the wall and the roof of the house.
The lines are actually straight instead of wobbly.
>>
>>151906435
Pretty sure the perfect rating was added later on, so probably just means no one has thoroughly gone through them and rated them since. And typically if someone is testing a bunch of games, they generally just go through the first level or two to see if there's any game breaking bugs to see if it's playable or not.

http://lifehacker.com/the-best-snes-emulator-for-windows-1745316428

Dude, why do you think two of those are about Vita? Probably because no stand alones are entrenched there. That's where RA can succeed, in new emulation platforms. But do you think the Vita is a platform for the average person to emulate on? No, since it's a niche platform and you have to crack it to get RA on it.

The lifehacker article is a joke since it's so long and has so many steps no normie would want to bother and the BR one is almost as long.
>>
>>151920338

LOL, you delusional faggot.

I could list about a hundred mainstream articles and you would still just dismiss it. Meanwhile, it is making major inroads, while all you can do is just mock it on a niche anonboard.
