On another note, if you MG guys are still reading this, I would be willing to pay for a translation of Sengoku that was better than what we got. The fan translation is readable, but there are definitely some parts that were noticeably unpolished. If 5D + VI do decently, try and convince your bosses to sell Sengoku as well.

Nippon actually works nicely for an alternate JAPAN name. Reminds me of the Far East of Eden games. It's gonna be a tough hurdle overcoming JAPAN as its name in my head though.

Sieg's funny. His role is somewhat limited since he shows up late (then again, so is Kamilla's despite what people may lead you to believe), but his complete nonthreateningness, mixed with his cute dynamic with his Apostle, make him entertaining as Hell. He's also a great boss fight.

Lots of repetitive scenes, much of the gameplay is randomized rolls but manipulating the seed is cumbersome as fuck and not doing so can force you to replay needless amounts of times to get scenes.

There are several routes and you can either be a good guy or an asshole, but there's a bunch of arbitrary game-over triggers that just slow you down in getting scenes (if any girl gets raped an x amount of times you get a bad end) and the endgame hits a retarded difficulty spike that you have no real means of mitigating beside playing the entire thing again from the start.

Overall I prefer Aru's name choices since Maria tends to go for engrishy sounding ones. Some of Aru's decisions are pretty suspect though, so he's not perfect either.

Really the only proactive and productive Alicesoft translation people are Maria, Aru and Pi-R. SLC too, if you count him, since his tools are used by the other three.

Like it or not, most posters are fine with accepting Alicesoft's official versions. It's just a certain autistic translator's personal choices that bother people.

What I'm actually quite interested to try out in VI is that energy system that allows weak characters to remain weak characters, but still be useful, while OP characters are still OP. The only otger game that has done it really is SR in the dungeons. (Action fans)

Now that I think about it, has there been any other RPGs that do the mechanic listed above, or the idea of the variable level cap based on potential? I've honestly never seen another game do either before, amd always considered it interesting

I got a file of them from a Japanese site that was all about making homebrew sys40 games. The site was really cool in general, and I linked it here as soon as I found it, but I recently found out it was shut down. The images themselves are ripped from a discontinued Alicesoft TCG from their golden age in the mid-nineties to early oughts. I don't actually have all of them, but I'm currently in a bidding war for the complete set of them, after which I'll rip all of the images that I don't have.
I plan on putting all of the images onto the wiki and hannybooru eventually, as well as putting the sys40 template and instructions onto the pastebin.

The scene where Rance plans to leave is very close to the end of the normal route (unless you're REALLY slow) and in IX he's more involved with the separate heroines which take the spotlight away from the conflict itself. That goes back to what I said earlier, none of the heroines have reasons to really be there besides Pigu.

Shizuka isn't there for any particular reason, her plot is about Nagi who is after her and not the other way around.

Tilde is only there because Rance joined the rebellion and she has no real stake in the conflict.

Sheila is a somewhat central character to Helman but I never got the impression she had any real desire to stay there or do anything, she was leaning more toward becoming the next Sill.

Miracle has no real reason to be there either as far as I know.

Kanami is only there because Rance joined the rebellion.

Senhime is only there for the fighting and has no stake in the conflict either.

So where previously at least one of the key heroines in the story had a strong stake in the conflict (Urza in VI, Kou in SR) that's just missing in IX, Rance himself is exactly the same in actions and role as he has always been.
