In terms of how divisions are constructed, BloatICE has the most autistically involved system that I really did appreciate

Research across all the games is fucking awful though I'm willing to say that Hoi3 probably has the best research system in comparison, though I really do love the tech teams, I just think that the end result of DH / Hoi2 research was that everyone ended up having the same equipment and essentially the same way of using units save for a few minor buffs one way or the other in doctrines.

This is true of HOI3, unless a nation is just behind in tech you can expect it to have the same stuff as everybody else. I think it would be interesting if there was a way to specialize doctrinally rather than just choosing some techs to lag and others to research ahead, like if there were mutually exclusive decisions to specialize in certain things. As it is the years-ahead research modifier makes it almost impossible to push meaningfully ahead even if you specialize, at least not until you already own half the world and have maximum theory/practical research bonuses.

It would have been good if the theory research practicals made the "years ahead" malus not as severe, while not reducing it to 0 / making future techs easier to research than contemporary techs, it should at least lessen the nerf.

I think the Hoi3 system though of it being based off of leadership points was a good idea, because it basically means that meme powers will stay memes technologically.

Again, BloatICE is good for this as it gives you more options than you could ever possibly hope to fully utilise, so you will have to actually make some choices as to which techs you want to use at the end of the day.

How do you fight a bigger enemy in EU4 since they introduced forts?
You can't carpet siege Moscovy or Ottos anymore and drive up their war exhaustion and starve them of income while they run around with a 50k stack.

Eu3 is pretty easy to get a hang of. One good thing about it is that even if you don't use merchants at all, don't take any ideas, don't use inflation, don't build any buildings, never mess with sliders or tech, don't take any advisors, you can still play the game fine. There is depth but you don't need to use it to just play the game and have fun.

It's a great game really, the only problem is the terrible AI. Once you get into multiplayer however that problem is a lot lessened if players are there.

I think the only mod of interest is Perisa rising but its super OP with Perisia getting cores on like everything up to greece. Kaiserreich is confirmed to being made for it though so that will be fun I just hope they release one more update for it for DH especially something for Poland it had so many cores but it has next to zero chance to get them with in its own power.

You're reading into it at a very surface level, it does that because that works, it has a set of priorities that you can manipulate when you start to get a feel for how it works. It won't do you any good to say most of it because you won't have any feeling for it with so few hours. It's a matter of experience. Play people with smaller nations to bully if you're struggling to win wars, having a few go one sidedly helps to paint a picture of what it's like on the other side which will give you an idea what hurts.

For "what to do", again you can't say that as a general thing because the part of the world your in matters, tech levels, NIs, etc. But aiming to have 2-4 cavaly while outnumbering the enemy stack by 3-6k is a good start, that should let your cavalry do a lot of damage. Aim for Shock generals early game and fire generals late game. Take advantage of terrain if you can. Learn how attrition works and see if you can use it against the AI.
