I was underleveled due to using camo for most of the shadow realm. I may have put a bit of an effort into beating him fairly if I didn't have to go through the dialogue again to change teams. There's something called motion values that are hidden. These motion values deal a percentage of your listed damage.

Since dualblades attack faster, they have a lower motion value, while greatswords have a higher motion value.

Theoretically, two weapons that are equal in attack should be balanced.

Rajang was just too point-heavy when it comes to GQs and Apex has its own flaws though

3U/Tri had great monsters, Underwater was a thing (for better or worse), and a not so hardcore endgame, being comfy for many. The monsters usually are what people remembered most, being "better" than most 2nd gen stuff.

I started with FU... and I hate it beyond words. It's a rough game with terrible graphics, AI, Hitboxes that for some reason FU nostalgia afflicted players can't seem to remember correctly (PS: They were complete bullshit!)

Most of the older players think the series sucks now because it caters to "babies" when in reality it was just a garbage game before 3rd gen with an AMAZING amount of content and deep mechanics...

Like honestly I love 3U, I loved Tri, I loved P3rd... I pretty much don't know why I stuck with FU... I got to mid G-Rank made Death Stench armor...

I don't get why people have nostalgia goggles for the older titles in this series... probably because it felt special to be the only ones playing it here in the states LOL... ugh. 3U was great though.

I like FU. In the beginning everything wrecked me, from Khezu to Tigrex, but it gets better as you're getting more familiar with the game.

Solo my way up to high rank, there are some shitboxes in that game, yes, but honestly I didn't have much problem with it.

I used a Lance for Plesioth and Khezu and that turns them into punching bags.

Raths in particular are much easier than their gen 3 counterpart because they have less moves, slower and very predictable.

Aside from that I can't really think of anything else that I had trouble with, Tiggy and Rajang maybe, and the elders.

Is 22:30 an okay clear time for solo Aerial GS against Hyper Duramboros? I pretty much jump slashed him non-stop the whole time with at least half my attacks hitting the humps but he just kept on roaring and trucking on.

I do it too in MHGen, but stopped using it for village after I beat Out of Fry Pan.

2 five monsters quest, twin rajang, and twin rath are 4 quest I cleared without using HH.

Absolute Readiness is probably what I would say should be your third if you do Striker Horn. But as cool as it is, and as nice as the skill is, it's not worth it.
Harmonize is the only good HH specific art, and Phoenix is damn good because a HH user should ALWAYS have their buffs, so it's a pretty damn big heal if you've got a few songs on, and all you gotta do is play them again.

Absolute Readiness is NOT enough to make up for what Striker strips from you.

Imagine if you couldn't charge with the GS, or if you couldn't charge your shield with the CB. This is what Striker Horn feels like.

HH's a balancing act. Play too much, and your damage suffers. Don't play enough, and you aren't being buffed enough (And your damage can suffer if one of your songs is AuL). Maestro makes it much easier to focus on damaging while still keeping up buffs.

Harmonize should always be first, no matter what. Arisen Phoenix is a nice little thing to have in the wings in case you need a strong heal. Playing all my songs and using it got me full from near death, so it's a really nice thing to fall back on. Though Absolute Readiness is a decent choice too, if you don't wanna use Arisen Phoenix.

The Coil is the least bullshitty thing about that stupid snake.

It's a shit fight because so much of him is out of play as a target for most weapons in the game, because half the time once you're in a position to actually attack him he'll do a back hop halfway across the map, and the other half of the time he'll do some attack that pushes you out of the way because his tail has to curl all over the place for him to make any movement, and because the intended way to fight him is to actually hit a snake in the knees.

Yeah, its legs are the weak point, which is part of why it's so unsatisfying to fight once you know how. It'd be like if Deviljho's arms were half the size they are now, and took 4x damage, while his legs and tail auto-bounced, and he walked upright like a 70's style tyrannosaurus 95% of the time.

There's no real 'baiting' Najarala's bite attack in any meaningful way. You can stand where he can hit you with it and he'll use it sometimes, but he's just as likely to start trying to coil around you, do a tailwhip, do a backhop, or throw out those exploding scale things (which for some reason have massive wind pressure).

And you really needn't bother with the last part; my favorite monsters are either dead or are already the biggest pariahs in the game. My favorite was Lagi when you could still swim, and my favorite of what's left is Rathalos.

Maestro is ALWAYS a safe bet for Hunting Horn. But you probably knew that.

My friend used to tell me a joke, which was "The best way to make a HH set is to get a good generic blademaster set and slap on Maestro", which is pretty right, but particular skills that are useful are...

(HG) EARPLUGS: Monsters do next to nothing during roars aside from the roar. This is a great time for a recital, and earplugs help you do it.
EVADE +#/EVADE EXTENDER: You should always be rolling out of recitals to cancel that lag, and Rolling is a good positioning tool. And unlike SnS, Evade Extender is also nice because it can get you out of jams (being close to the head and all)
ATTACK UP (L): There is never a weapon type that couldn't benefit from his.
BLUDGEONING: Just a cool little thing that's pretty useful for certain horns with not a lot of sharpness, which is NICE for the Akantor horn.
KO KING: Faster KOs. Personally, I don't think it's worth it if it's not closed to already being there, but to each their own.

Other than that, just make a generic BM set and slap on Maestro if you can.

You don't use Sharpness +1 with akantor horn.

Crit Boost, Razor Sharp and WE are the main skills.

Razor Sharp doubles your green, combined with readiness and the green will hold out for quite a while, considering horn is a pretty slow weapon.

The horn has 40% affinity on its own so with WE it's 90% on weakpoints, and Crit Boost because of fucking course.

I feel like people continuously misunderstand skills like KO King, Status, and the like.

The constant judgement seems to be "It doesn't reduce that number of hits necessary, so it sucks".
But that's not the point.
A monster's recovery for status is really slow. KO King may not lower the number of hits necessary if you hit it perfectly until it's KOd, but the KO King skill will nullify the monster's next "recovery", giving you a handful of seconds to find your window.

It doesn't reduce the number of hits if you're perfect, but in literally any other situation you're better off with it.
