Make sure to scan. You only get resources if the little cubes appear over what you're trying to mine. Once they're gone, even if it says Emeril, you won't get anything out of it.

If they were more like a Minecraft "world" with each planet containing at least a couple distinct biomes then that might be pretty cool, but once you've explored one square mile of a planet you've basically explored the other 200 million.

After using my warp, I find myself at a system with nothing but hellish landscapes. The first planet I landed on is super radioactive (my hazard suit was going down really fast and was gone in 3 minutes, I had to fuck off). Its also 90% water, which is also no doubt fucked, not that I would ever go down there.

Find those laser things that point into the sky, use a bypass on it, select "Shelter"

nine times out of ten, it will show you the location of a "drop pod" this gives you an inventory expansion slot.

The max you can have is 48 slots, they cost money each time you get one, and it increases each time.

Also as an addendum to this post since most people seem to be retarded or new here's some more tips:
You can use signal emitters (orange lasers shooting into the sky, use a bypass chip) to search for things. Shelters gets you a drop pod half the time, which you can use to increase your inventory. Colonial Outposts occasionally finds you manufacturing facilities which help increase the base recipes you can make. Searching for Transmissions will usually get you to transmitter bases, which when cracked can get you distress beacons which lead to crashed ships you can repair and claim for your own.

Since we have a traditional of going fast, you can sprint, do a melee attack and then activate your jetpack thrusters during the melee "lunge" to jettison yourself across the planet at near Tribes-level skiing speeds.

Phase beams kick ass, use that in space battles and not the photon cannon since it hitscans. Another tip for the mining beam is that the instant the cooldown starts to begin you can simply fire it again and it will reset the gauge from the beginning. Coolant upgrades still affect how long you can hold it down however. Now put this in the OP and someone run off with it to reddit for those sick upvotes like I know one of you chucklefucks will do.

No, if you are using a cracked Steam version (like the CODEX) then this crack will let you upload I guess. Its by the person who bypassed Denuvo recently. However as of right now, you can't do anything with the GOG version.

So I think I figured out how ships work in the game.

Each star system has a pool of ships it pulls from, you can see these ships by going to the space station and chilling there and watch the ships that come by. There are rare ships so you will have to stay a while to see it all. Now say you want a ship but it is very expensive or it is worse than yours. Crashed ships pull from the same pool of ships, so if you go to a planet and farm crashed ships you will eventually find the ship you want and it will be either the same as your ship or +/- 1 than yours. Not only that but it comes at no cost.

also, I'm starting to get the feeling that "missing features" might be shit we need to find/upgrade in the game world, for instance I was bummed about there not being beacons that I could place, and not being able to find shit once I left to sell my wares, but after I upgraded my scanner, the icons of trading posts, scanners, signal towers etc. are persistent on my map making navigation much easier. Now if we got a functional local area map I would be happy with this iteration of the game.

Easiest way to learn gek language, possibly any language.

Go get best friend rank with gek
Get at least 120 carbon
Feed a gek and ask for a word whenever you get the chance
Keep feeding and ask for fuel and isotope when they appear and you should get carbon back.
Whole cycle takes 6 turns before it starts repeating, giving you 3 words, taking 120 carbon but giving you back 156

Tried it on 2 different gek and learned over 100 words before I got bored.

It's actually pretty hard, it's not like you just scan the artists drawing and then it instantly gets turned into polygons, the programmer, has to make it in engine and then make sure all the object in question has all it's parameters programmed correctly so that it doesn't bug out. That's not really an excuse, considering that they had 3 years and most of their work was done using procedural generation, but it's still hard work.

Here's a tip

When you make it to the Third Galaxy you find this Manufacturing Station that gives you an Antimatter crafting formula so you can craft WarpDrives for your Hyperdrive

To get enough Warp drives to make it to the third galaxy I basically explored around enough planets and found settlements with Launch Pads. These settlements have Trading Posts that may have Antimatter for sale

During all the exploring I bought a new ship and also found an abandonded ship that I repaired and ended up being better than the ship I upgraded. Also found 2 new Multitools and pleanty of blueprints for my Multitool, Exosuit, and Spaceship.

The ship I have now has this part I need to repair that improves my Hyperdrive so I can warp farther. However I need 200 Copper and Copper is a bitch to find right now. The only way Ive obtained any Copper is feeding this one animal some Iron and it shit out some Copper for me. Im hoping in this new Third galaxy there's an easier way to find Copper.

Here's some better hints.

Ships you find and buy will always be better than the ship you have. Same for multitools. It' all just a matter of whether or not you feel like it's worth installing all of your upgrades again.

Copper can be found in the floating stones on what seems to be most planets or in asteroids in space.

Why is trading so shit in this game, I want to mine some shit then refine it then fly 100000000000 ly away and sell it for $$$

Here to ask, game runs fine for me aside from one thing. After a certain amount of play or maybe travel time, the game becomes obscenely laggy when entering my ship. Only affects the ship, have any fixes been found yet?
