I'm relatively new to the game as well.
An anon told me: If a person says a quest is urgent, do it right away.
You might have to use the wiki a lot, since doing some quests before others can cut you off from story line ones
Remember to frequently change up your pawn. They can be quite helpful, if a little too chatty.

You don't need a guide, but do take the advice about side quests. Generally you should try to do each one as soon as it becomes available. There aren't really any quests which isn't possible when you can first open them up, so there is really not much to fear.

Plus doing them makes you explore Gransys which is like the best part of the game.

Your weapons strength is a huge deal - always upgrade your weapon at every opportunity. Status effects, consumables and abusing elemental weaknesses are actually incredibly helpful, so put them all to use. A lot of skills are kind of shitty until you level them up, so don't dismiss something just because of a bad first impression. Augments are passive skills that you can swap between classes, make good use of them. And lastly, don't worry about your stats from leveling up - you can more than make up with it between your equipment and augments, so just play what you like.

I was planning on playing the PS3 version, but I liked how I could use mods in the PC version, plus how Dark Arisen fixed some of the console issues.

What would be a good 4 party member for daimon?

Me and my pawn are strider and ranger for back liners and with fracture dart for daimons rift move with octavia, a fighter with ascalon the holy sword and designated frontliner and punching bag.

Should i get a mage with heals and grapnel?

or another strider/ranger?

Other than a couple of VERY minimal bugs, and the higher graphic Quality, i dont think PC Dark Arisen is all that superior to the PS3 Dark Arisen
This said, PC is clearly more alive and will have a better staying power in a few years. On the downside, no Berserk armor sets on PC

But yeah, when i bought the game i could not foresee a PC version. DD was one of the reasons i bought a PS3 in the first place.

I find pawns rather useless against Daimon (both forms). They will hopefully distract him enough to give yourself a break though.

If you are playing strider, climb is the most effective way. First form is easy enough whatever you do, but the second form can be a bitch since he hits like a truck. Brain splitter him until he starts doing his rift thing, then climb up (either face or chest), pop periapts and kiss away. Provided you have a decent weapon he will go down before he recovers from the stagger.

Ok you magnificent bastards! It's time to start a new run of the game! Going to do my usual, start the game, fight the hydra, then go right to BBI and suicide my way through the midnight helix so I can get the moonbeam gem in Barroch's first hideout for the ring of perseverance.

I've never played assassin, so I'm thinking I should do that, but being a fighter helps so much in negating the fireballs from the undead sorcs in the midnight helix climb.

Went and killed Daimon, gave gifts then released them. Logged on my other steam account and rested, I got both gifts, but only one set of RC.

Which reminds me, I intended for my pawn Simon to be a ranger with a dragon's glaze, so they'd be able to deal damage to living assholes. I've always liked hiring glaze ranger pawns, but I've been thinking if I should just switch him over to the revenant wail for better damage. I love his versatility, but I feel that many people would pass over him just because its not a lvl 3 weapon.

Yeah, its a pretty half-assed system.

Depending how you do certain quests you can easily max out affinity with an NPC (wanted or unwanted).

There is a certain point in the main quest line where the game will pick the last person you had the highest affinity with. So lets say you had 3 NPCs with maxed out affinity, before that "point" the last of the 3 you talked to will be your beloved. That is ultimately where the confusion comes from.

In town, unsheathing and sheathing your weapon repeatedly makes them not like you. You'll notice they stagger when you do this. Punching might help too, but you might be sent to jail. Be careful to not have the jail guard fall in love with you if this happens too often.

Really, just do one of the important characters' quests, maybe an escort quest from the notice board.

Hi, I have really been having an itch to play some more DD, so I wonder if I could ask some less-than-informed questions.
1. Are there any mods on the Nexus that are recommended? Seen through it, and while some graphics etc is nice, nothing really stands out.
2. Fighter is one of my favorite classes, but I feel like gimping myself leveling one, Any way to make them better?
3. Ive read through the OP, and it seems creating a new account is the best way to go, is the save-back way that unstable?
4. My PC character is L150 (mostly red classes), is ng+ hard mode challenging? Got mostly L3gear from BBI which is dragonforged to mostly L2-3. Some of the charm of lowlevel characters are finding/buying/upgrading new weapons and armor.
5. Saw some mods that require that you need more xp to level, but gives you much higher scores, how does that work out in the game?

to me it feels somewhat like dmc3 with simple inputs and no combos if you are playing melee classes.(when I am talking about combos I mean no air juggling and stuff) You have to consider i frames, recover frames of your skills and such. I stopped playing DD when I farmed Greg for the equipment that I needed for me and my pawn, all gear is L3 and awoken with dragonstuff and crafting. I want to play me some DD, so I just finished the game for the first time (I had it on the 360 as well, but kinda gimped myself with too many restarts)

Jesus Christ this game gets western history so fucking right it hurts.

I can't get the game to run on fullscreen at native resolution (1366x768), it gives me a black screen (sometimes with audio). Changing the resolution in the config file gives the same result.

Does anyone have a solution for this yet?

Can't really answer 1, I've never used mods for DD, but...

2. Fighter actually isn't that bad. Second highest HP growth, solid attack growth, and the best defense growth in the game. On top of that, by the time you hit endgame content, weapons and armor account for up to 80% of your attack/defense stats, so you can afford to play whatever you want, really. If you really want to min-max your stats, though, you could always edit them after the fact with the cheat engine, several people have talked about doing so.
3. If you're talking about backing up saves, I don't think it's unstable so much as if you do something wrong, it's easy to screw all your saves up.
4. At level 150, with appropriate equipment, Hard Mode probably won't be difficult, not around Gransys. As a red, you might have issues in BBI, since Hard Mode increases the already impressive BBI knockdown resistence significantly.
5. Unless you're playing a cracked version and can't do online mode anyway, I would steer clear of mods that mess with the stats. It's fine for the Arisen (though it makes a relatively easy game even easier), but pawns that are uploaded to the rift with stats that are impossible for their level are soft-banned. I think it's automatic, so it's really not worth the risk. If there aren't any mods that increase the exp required to level without messing with stat gains, I'd recommend using the cheat engine to just set yourself at the level you want to be.

Yeah, I went with the most popular mod, but it only changes the advance classes. The plan is to run around as warrior and sorc for a few levels to gather some attack skills and turn them off.

The vocations are varied enough that you will have a different experience with all of them. I really can't compare this game to another because there just isn't anything like it in the combat department but its eons better than Skyrim's ((((combat)))) no matter how much you mod it.

There are many instances of online Ur and I think every 30 min or so they are synced with each other using an average so its not uncommon to see an ur with 1-2 bars then a sync back to 4 bars.

You can also toss people around. So long as you don't hit anybody with them, you won't be arrested, and getting tossed lowers affection.

I think one of the stats in the history submenu also shows how many people have max affection for you (but not who).

Hey, Snapdragon just pulled off an insane Great Gamble. Was fighting a dire drake and clinging onto his belly trying to manoveur into position of heart, he jumps back and while in mid-air, a slick GG flew right into his heart and a couple bars just vanished.Wish I was quick enough to take a screenshot now.

what's a good party comp for the early parts of the game?
i'm going as a fighter and having a strider main pawn with a mage and another fighter pawns but the enemies kept shredding my team

My teams usually always end up as 1 Mage (for healing and status curement + buffs), 1 Sorcerer (for unparalleled Burst DPS), and probably the tankiest aggro drawing sumbitch I can find to take the heat off of everyone else.

Really have to pay attention to what inclination the pawns you pick up have or the game is four times harder than it needs to be.

Later on/when I got gud I usually prefer to have a tank, but anything with a good inclination and skills is my go to. Like right now i've got my main pawn as a Sorcerer, a rando pawn as a Mage, and the last one is a Ranger because of her great skill set and inclinations.

Thats the most solid earlygame composition actually. You just need to git gud or choose your fights better.
Make sure the team Mage has Ingle and Anodyne (+ Levin and Halidom for better results) and you should be fine.

Once you get out of your weak, babyman gear, yeah. The enemies don't level with you so an upgrade is an upgrade.

Later on there are different variants of an enemy, but by then you probably won't notice it a whole lot due to being too stronk.

You'll get stronger as time goes on. Mostly weapon-related, but pawns, especially sorcerers can change your fortunes over pretty quickly.

Yep. Promotes ranged battle. The only real combo to be honest. I'd imagine Utilitarian would be the ideal tertiary, but don't quote me.

Throwing one of my alt pawns off of the pier.

Hired 2 of my alt pawns, they paved the way for me to get the moonbeam gem and my ring of perseverance. By the time I left BBI, I had a decent chest piece, daggers, and a nice cloak to go along with my ring, and I was level 15 (forgot how much XP you got for throwing the skeleton mages in the helix to their deaths).

Just killed the hydra and cleared the well, and on my way to see Quinoa and best girl, AKA Selene.

It's guessed that Daimon is no longer bound to Ashe, that he is his own entity now, inhabiting the island. Like Barroch says, you killed the owner, but he won't be quit of the island that easily, else why is it still standing, since he is the one that held it together through his malice? Kind of like Sauron, he exists as an evil spirit. Best guess, he takes over the body of other arisen that enter BBI and give in to the fear.

If you have a strider, ranger, or assassin, load up you and your pawns with blast arrows, grab conq perries, summon him in the garden, and spam blast errors until he is dead. Keep up the barrage, and he'll be stunlocked until dead.

Also a good way to quickly level up an alt.

It's constant. I've never had to manually revive this pawn in all the time i've had it with me.

Dragon roar and she gets up. Get's stomped by a Condemned Gorecyclops and she gets up. It looks like as long as whatever it is that kills her doesn't send her automatically to the rift that she gets up no problem.

I thought it might've been her gear, but the closest thing she's got on to something like that is "cured from debilitation faster" or something like that.

If you just want quick EXP, go to that cavernous area right after the eyeball boss with the bridge. Death can sometimes spawn right next to the bridge but not above it. Use blast arrows to fuck him up and he will get staggered and fall into the abyss and die immediately.

I've only seen small bits of Berserk until now and for some reason felt like it has something in common with DD. I don't know just they way it felt and looked. And now when I finally've watched the 1997 series, wow. Just wow. It seems like devs were heavily inspired by it. DDOnline is a MMORPG and a sequel of sorts to Dragon's Dogma.
Dark Arisen is an expansion/ the 'complete' Dragon's Dogma (in true Capcom fashion)
It adds a TON of new things. Items, quests, enemies, fixes most of the original game's flaws (lack of fast travel for example) and rebalances vocations. On top of that, you get a Hard Mode and Speedrun Mode, and then you get the actual Dark Arisen content, which is a hellish island called Bitterblack Isle, full of difficult new enemies and awesome gear, with a new plotline that delves deeper in the game lore.
Dark Arisen easily doubles the life expectancy of the original game. Also you can use the japanese voices now, which makes the experience much more enjoyable in my opinion.
The PC version is a port with improved graphics.

If you played the original DD on console and upgrade to Dark Arisen, you get an eternal ferrystone and several outfits you can't get elsewhere.
