Define 'cool.' Dark Edge looks cool sure but it has fuck all practical use in most actual fights, let alone PvE compared to other spells.

Also there are barely any actual Dark spells compared to other versions. There isn't even the basic Dark Orb or Bead/Hail from previous games, which is crazy. The actual number of combat focused Dark spells is pitiful. For miracles you have Lifehunt Scythe, which is shit, Dead Again, which is never useful for the damage it does even with a pile of corpses unless you're in hypermode, the Dark Weapon buff, which is the worst buff mechanically for some reason, both versions of Gnaw which are only for PvE bleeding as a caster, and Deep Protection which doesn't even work in PvP. Meanwhile you got variants of Deep Soul, which is useful for mix-ups, Affinity which feels like the worst version of the hex by far, and the aforementioned Dark Edge, and that's it for Hex sorceries. Dark pyromancies are the only actually useful ones and that's because Black Snake/Flame can combo and have decent tracking for the former, while Black Fire Orb is a good PvE tool for pyros who need a damage type other then fire.

If the first R1 staggers you, then technically yes.
I say technically because the margin for error is so small than anything above 10ms of delay will basically ensure that it fails. I wouldn't rely on it unless you somehow find yourself on a LAN connection to your opponent.

A damage buff, but not a massive one.
I use it a lot in PvP, and it isn't terrible when buffed, but it could certainly do with a buff. It should be fairly mediocre in damage though, due to it's immense range.
It also needs better scaling, so faith builds have something other than a raw ASS to use before they get wolnirs holy sword.

I use crescent moon and it seems ok. Most things look ok, though you'll probably want to try and hit 40 vig. I don't know how important endurance is for a sorcerer.

This is an area where I think gameplay should come agead of realism. You realise if you implemented that, STR weapons would be ruined early levels, for instance, and people would find the specific breakthroughs where you have just enough speed to HA through certain common combos, just like poise.
I think a better idea, if going for realism, would be to reduce stamina consumption past a certain amount of STR

The damage of the top-tier great weapons for lack of a better term is already decent save for obvious garbage like the Great Wooden Hammer, the problem is their HA frames start way too late in attack animations and their movesets are shit for dealing with most every other weapon. An aggressive 2H Curved Sword/Dagger user can literally just keep walking up to a great weapon user and press R1 and due to how fast 2HR1s are for those weapons they will knock them out of HA before the attack swings unless the GW users is already midway through swinging at which point they can just roll and be aggressive until they can get a hit in at which point there is nothing a GW user can do save roll away to try and create space desperately or switch weapons.

Ring of Blades +2 and Flynn's Ring.
Flynn's is a dlc ring that boosts your AR by a flat amount, up to a maximum of 50, based on how low your maximum equip weight is. Basically, anything blow 60 as a max (which is like 9 or 10 vit) gives you the full 50, and you progressively lose more and more of the bonus the further above 60 you go.

Because it imposes pretty strict weight restrictions, builds that used Flynn's ring basically only used small, fast weapons with light armor. So Robflynn is basically just cloth-wearing dexfags that stacked flat AR boosts to make curved swords and rapiers hit like ultra greatdicks.

Elemental doesn't scale in DaS1 outside of the magical damage paths (Magic/Enchanted/Divine/Occult), the only reason for doing so would be to meet the weapon's minimum requirements and maybe for greatshields too.

Unless you plan to grind towards Sunlight/Darkmoon Blade buff on a regular scaling weapon, you can't really do Str/Faith in DaS1. And I'm pretty sure resins will give you almost the same boost anyways without having to invest in Int or Faith.

Yeah, they nerfed almost every armor set in the game in a patch and also modified the damage calculation so that defense did less in general, basically putting every heavy armor set in the dumpster. Wearing heavy armor, and thus losing flynn's ring, meant you lost more damage vs a robflynn than they lost against you from your defense. Basically the only function of armor was poise, and poise was kind of shit outside of certain, very specific turtle setups.

When they invade they are given a quota. They succeed if they manage to kill the host or the same number of phantoms as their quota. That Quota can often be just 1, in which case they are usually better off killing your phantom.

That place is the designated Dueling hot spot, so that is where most PvPers congregate.

You get a lot more Pharros Lockstones than you'll ever need, and 90% of the time they won't lead to traps. The other 10% are shit inside Grave of Saints and Doors of Pharros, and a single trap inside one of the Giant's Memories. Plus, I'm pretty damn sure you can farm Pharros Lockstones off of the rats that appear in Doors of Pharros, I got two off of random drop there.

As for Fragrant Branch, you have enough to de-petrify all but maybe one or two throughout the entire game. If you're diligent in exploring for loot and only unlock statues that block your progress and/or are blocking chests, you should be fine. You'll only run into problems once you reach Shaded Ruins, but at least two of the statues there are optional, one of the blocked chests gives you one back, and one of the NPCs that you help by beating the area boss gives you one for helping him. You can also bypass at least one by using a jump near the area bonfire, just be sure to have a Homeward Bone ready after.

I admit to my great shame that Bloodborne was the first Soulsbourne game I finished completely solo. Was too young and impatient for DS1+2, and Nameless King just made me summon some dudes.

However, being older, I've now decided to truly git gud and try all DS games solo, trying out the DLCs before the final boss. So far DS1 was a cakewalk with some weird VIT/END/RES/Pyromancy+lightning pike build, but the DLC seems designed to kick my ass.

I won't give up though. I beat Manus with my horribly gimped setup after like 10 tries, and I'll beat Kalameet with it as well! Finally learning how to fight without a lock thanks to Kalameet. Wish me luck on my quest to git gud.

However, any advice for a ds2 solo setup? Just VIT/END/STR and two handed stuff? Is pyromancy as broken in DS2 as it is in DS1? I haven't played DS2 in years.

Dex is not that useful unless you really want to use some Dex weapons or take advantage of poison/bleed, otherwise Str gives you twice the bang for your buck in terms of damage scaling. Also helps that you don't fat-roll until 70% encumbrance so you can pack on more weapons/armor than in DaS1.

Pyromancy isn't as broken as in DaS1 since all magic scales from your respective elemental bonuses, so you'll need to put points into Int/Faith to get bonus fire damage on your spells (as well as everything else). Dark is pretty damn fun to use since not a lot of stuff has resistance to it.

And don't forget to level Adaptability, otherwise your rolls won't do shit. Remember that chugging and item use isn't anywhere near as fast in DaS2 as it is in DaS1 or DaS3, it can actually be punished.

They stop using Pharros contraptions almost entirely about midway through the game and you'll end up with way more than you could ever use, so don't worry too much about them.

There are exactly enough fragrant branches to unlock every statue in the game, but not all of them are easy to find. It's a good idea to be judicious about how you use them earlygame. There's one branch near the end of the game that's farmable via ascetics if you need more and can't find one of the more hidden ones.

But yes, the game will troll you and try to make you waste branches and stones on worthless shit. At the same time, some of them will unlock shortcuts, bonfires, hidden areas, bossfights and even NPCs.

With Branches, any statue that's blocking a path or a door is generally worth using. The only exception is one lone statue standing in the middle of nowhere in Shaded Ruins that drops a key to a very important NPC. He's probably the single most important statue in the game besides Rosabeth
