I'm used to playing Ryu and have a basic idea of my gameplan and my problem is trying to adapt Ryu's plan to Ibuki which doesn't work.
With Ibuki my fireball has limited uses and I can only anti air with ex kazekiri.
So far I've only been able to get my jump in combo reliably.
Everything else is just a mess of jumping and getting punished or getting some normal attacks in but nothing else.

Capcom already had the casual audience interested with promises of a more casual-friendly game, input buffer, etc, but launched the game completely void of any meaningful single-player experience. They took the casuals' money, shit on them, and ran. There is still no meaningful single-player content to this day, six months later. Did they really think their pitiful excuse of a story mode was actually going to bring back the casuals that lost interest? There was a small spike in traffic after story mode was implemented, but it went back down when people realized it wasn't worthwhile. Post-Evo sales were also nowhere near what they were expecting it to be.

The ship has already sailed for Capcom on the casual front. Whether it was Capcom or Sony executives who pushed the game out a month early is neither here nor there. The game should have waited another year. We could have easily lasted another year with USFIV.

SFV, despite me playing it every day, reeks of being half assed. It feels clunky. The game itself is poorly optimized and is missing features that games 10 years ago had. If you go back and play any other fighting game, it feels much, much more responsive than 5. The input buffer is also terrible for SF.

USFIV was still seeing new players brought in, despite its heavy execution and OS riddled game.

Do I think SFV is bad game? No, but it has failed on many fronts.

there are like 3 characters that have animations that take way too long

that being said that's mostly just a mess around combo with new things that character can do and there are shorter combos that do similar damage in 1/3rd of the time

the way the engine works you also do around 70% of your total combo damage in the first 3-4 seconds and most people go for resets instead of finishing combos because it gives the opponent less meter and is harder to defend against
