No Man's Sky general. SPAAAAACE edition.

Out right now for PS4, PC release on Friday the 12th.

>What is this game?
A relaxing procedurally generated space exploration game with some combat and trading.

>What do you do in the game?
From the HG website, http://www.no-mans-sky.com/2016/08/what-do-you-do-in-no-mans-sky/

>Is there multiplayer?

For instance overnight we hit 10 million species discovered in NMS... that's more than has been discovered on earth. WHAT IS GOING ON!!!

Wooow.
>>
>>151359140
I once had the same NPC land on two separate landing pads at the same time. Same ship. Same inventory of goods for sale, though each was separate, ie If I bought out the stock of Power gel at one the other one still had some gel in stock.

But one ship had 21 slots and the other ship had 17. It's just RNG how many slots they get. Keep trying!

It's on their website. Base building and freighters in future updates.

I'm guessing by freighters they mean those big fuckin ships that stop in front of you in space.
>>
I found a planet where there are caves filled with Pearls. Not only that but I found a settlement with a trading post right next to a giant cave. Each run I make nets me 300k and runs are about 5 minutes long or a bit longer.
>>
Has anyone else been in a space fight yet?
Responded to a distress call and ended up getting raped by a 25 man squadron.
>>
>>151360071
this game certainly needs building to some extent. it would be amazing to leave behind awesome structures on planets for others to find (and destroy if they wish)
>>
>>151358825
Can people stop saying "every planet". Just because you haven't seen any mountains doesn't mean they don't exist. The planets are randomized, the ones in your area happen to not have them.
>>
>>151360123
I fucking wish. I just keep raiding platinum deposits. Not the worst way to make a living
>>
guys i've been flying towards the sun for 6 hours. when i run out of fuel, i shoot some rocks and keep going. will i ever reach the sun? i'm too far from the planets to turn back and I don't have any warp fuel.
>>
>>151360161

I have seen a lot of gameplay and shots and not a single one had any great mountains or large canyons. Mountains aren't exactly that rare.
>>

All I want is a Space Engineers with servers that aren't shit.

I just want to fucking raid ships and be a lone pilot floating my freighter around in the outer rim. Or maybe RP as a shady used ship salesman on an asteroid.

Is it too much to ask for? Just a basic building space sim that could handle more than 8 players (or at least TWO).
>>
>>151360158
Well you'd need multiplayer for that so...
>>
So is this just another shit survival game? I just want to explore cool shit, not have to deal with fending for my life every 10 seconds so I can't even enjoy anything.
>>
>>151360323
can't other players come across planets you've discovered?
>>
>>151360328
There is no eating or thirst
>>

Godspeed, you son of a bitch.
>>
>>151360323
Not really.
>>
>>151360328
>>151360360

No eating or thirst but you have to recharge life support systems quite often which gets annoying extremely fast. Add it to the list of shit that either needs changed or a way to disable.
>>
>>151360361
i swear, it doesn't even look like it's getting any closer and the cursor for the space station and planets from the last system i was in have vanished, so, I'm basically directionless, except aiming towards the sun. I think I ruined the game.
>>
>>151360328
It pretty much is, yeah.

>>151360360
Sure, but there's life support and hazard protection, so you still need a steady stream of resources. Functionally it's identical.
>>
>>151360414
Sean said it was possible to drive from one solar system to another. That means you're not stuck in that solar system. Maybe the sun is that far away and that fucking huge?
>>
>>151360489
well... I'll let you know if I get anywhere. i guess i could always just kill myself.
>>
>>151360414
You should be able to reload your last save in the options menu.

>>151360489
You seriously still believe that?
>>
>>151360556
i guess that's probably a good idea. kinda sucks though. i really wanted to see what happens when you hit the sun, but i think they're pulling an "infinite stairs" on me, like Super Mario 64 or some shit.
>>
>>151359001
>tfw you can hold more than your ship.
>>
>>151360489
>>151360645

The sun is more than likely just an entity in a plane that you can't reach, much like a skybox. Apply the same to space around you, so no you can't reach other stars by just flying. If someone posts a video showing otherwise I'd love to see it but seriously

>trusting anything Sean says

The fact he can't tell the truth is what made me cancel my preorder.
>>
Are pirated copies going to be able to upload and download discoveries to/from the server?
>>
>>151360815

Not really sure. Does anyone know what happens if you try playing the game normally on PS4 while being disconnected completely from the internet?
>>
>>151360815
Can modders just hack the game to find out what lies at the center of the universe?
>>
This game fucking blows

I wanted to ride a buggy to climb on space mountains, fly between space canyons along with winged aliens

This is just all flat and slow, I can't even fly the planets surface like in the trailer
>>
>>151361014

>I can't even fly the planets surface like in the trailer

I've seen this tossed around a lot but no one explains. What happens if you try to skim the ground? Does it autoland?

This is a bigger travesty than no multiplayer. We have to rely on NPC aliens to have good taste.
>>
>>151361480
It's honestly really strange that it's not in, given all the ships are made from a handful of interchangeable parts anyway. Why not let the player swap those parts out?

Nope, just suit and ship. You can upgrade your suit to 48 slots. To upgrade your ship you have to find/buy a new one. Remember your ship can hold twice as many materials in 1 stack as you can in your suit.
>>
>>151361764
aim for $40 and under

pretty solid game but it has a lot of problems
>>
>>151361478
That doesn't mean you should pirate it.
Just wait for the game to get a 50% price cut. It'll even have more content by then.
>>
The problem with no man's sky is that procedural generation is inherently boring.

"Oh look, it's that same type of wing I've seen on a dozen other forms of life, but this time they're blue wings." Repeat ad nauseam.

If everything's different, it's all exactly the fucking same.

Did you ever get bored playing Bloodborne? Of course not. Every setting is unique but it's also handcrafted. Sure, mobs are repeated here and there but not so much that you groan at the sight of them.

Game sucks. Wish it was cooler. I like the colors of deep space tho.
>>
>>151362223
most planets are boring as hell but every now and then I find a really cool one I spend like 5-6 hours on exploring
>>
>>151362140
Or you could just pirate it and then buy it when the price hits an acceptable level if you like it.
>>
>>151362223
I don't know if procedural generation is boring or the lack of multiplayer and base building.
>>

From what I hear, yes. The closer to the center of the universe you get, the more dead planets you find. Planets completely devoid of any resources.

>>
I hope some things become more obvious in later patches. I'm currently at "partner" standing with the Gek, but I can't tell if that's higher than "valued customer" or not. I mean, it SOUNDS like it would be, but I didn't always have a Gek NPC to keep checking my standing against every time I found a new word or monolith, so I don't know what the faction standing levels are. Really wish this was documented in one of the menus.

Also, does anyone know how to search for missing/undiscovered animals/plants/objects on a planet? I'm missing at least one species and having a bitch of a time finding it. I just want the completion upload bonus, it's a nice chunk of units.

I hope it stays like this from now on and I'll still definitely pirate it when it comes out tomorrow. Ye Sean must have been lying. Olympus Mons is 20,000m tall and I get the feeling that the 128m dig limit applies upwards to the height of natural features as well.

I've visited a dozen planets and watched hours of streams, and so far planets seem consist either of endless pokey little hills, or scattered islands.

There are no mountains, no canyons, no continents, no biomes, no ice caps, not even rivers.

I never expected there to be any gameplay but I am honestly surprised at how shit the worldgen is.

No need for multiplayer, it kinda kills the fun of exploring 'virgin soil', if you get what I mean. No need for action space battles, I have E:D for that. No need for Wall Street level trading mechanics (Who are those people anyway who consider looking at spreadsheets and calculating prices and shit fun? I do that the whole fucking day).

So, basically, I just want a comfy exploration game I can get lost in on a rainy weekday evening and forget my troubles for a while.

Does NMS deliver on that?
>>
>>151375624
In my opinion, yes. It's so incredibly comfy and the less you try the more comfy it gets.
>>
>>151375624
I used to have E.D too until I quit smoking. Now I have strong, mighty erections.
>>
>>151375624
It is a comfy game. It's not complex, the worlds are beautiful to look at a lot of the time, and there's something serene about looking over a landscape and knowing that you're the first person to ever see that view and will most likely be the only person. Space travel is, for the most part, also comfy. Intergalactic jumping is a bit ugly but I'm sure that will get ironed out in future patches. Soundtrack is really good.

My personal favourite is sitting in the ship on a monsoon planet and listening to the rain patter on the hull. It's really nice.

That can be part of a game you enjoy. These aren't fucking Halo and COD games. They're games where you enjoy the atmosphere and free roaming ability.

I'm not that anon, but I'm the type of kid that loved the cities in Grand Theft Auto and exploring in Minecraft more than the gameplay of either game.

We could have had base building, multiplayer interaction, real trading, actual interesting flight and fighting mechanics.

I play League of Legends at high-diamond tiers, and I think that's mechanically complex and challenging enough for me to deserve a game to just relax in.

If you want a space game with those features, wait another 3-4 years for the final release of Star Citizen. No Man's Sky isn't that game, and it never pretended to be that game. People like you jump on hype trains and end up being inevitable disappointed.

Sean has already said he wants this game to be like Minecraft in that it evolves over the years, so I'm guessing this game will become incredibly more accommodating to what you want it to do eventually, anyway.

If 2 players meet can they then interact or even see each other?

Part of the reason I ask is that some stream told that changes to the landscape are stored locally and only major events like base destruction in systems where there are multiple of those will carry over. So it would be weird if one player had dug a trench and the other would just see a flat landscape.

I don't think the weird gravity is a big deal. I learned to accept it in Minecraft so I probably can here too. What does bother me when comparing to minecraft is that its map and biome generator have received a lot of improvements over time. But I doubt the creator of this game will be equally willing to change the procedural generation algorithm to allow for stuff like multiple biomes on a planet or just generally improvements. Since it could potentially reshape planets already discovered unless he's willing to accept multiple algorithms to cover undiscovered stuff.

Multiplayer games with waifus have the best generals because all people do is shitpost about their waifus or complain about balance issues or loadouts/skills/tactics. Ie. Overwatch, LoL, Dota etc.

Because Sony marketing team went at it. They ran a marketing campaign to hype the game up with their usual PR strat, going on reddit pretending to be a generic user, making posts on imgur, sending stories to press, setting up interviews on mainstream TV etc.

and the idiot gamers fell for it, of course. Im sure they will swear to never pre-order a game for the tenth time after this.

Not exactly, no. Look at this trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLtmEjqzg7M

That was 2 years ago and it looks significantly better than the final product. It showcases a bunch of stuff that's not available in the released version, such as much better animal AI and interactions (that rhino type animal destroying the environment to get at you in particular) and the dogfighting looks much better.

The animals also don't look retarded and pieced together by Dr Frankenstein, unlike the vast majority of the animals I've seen in the released version.

Yeah the base building is a really sore part. It makes in hard to feel invested in the world. You can find lots of cool looking place but you can't really make them your own, build a home or anything. from the initial game play demos I thought this game would be more of a bounty hunter type of game.

say, the game lets you be part of a fleet of ships participating voluntarily on big space battles gaining reputation from certain faction and losing rep from others.

but this is nothing like that, right?
>>
>>151390818

Absolutely not, it's a single player survival game.

>Graphics took a huge hit but other than that the trailers were not that misleading

Ship combat in the final product isn't anywhere even close to what they showed. Also I've yet to see anyone playing the game call in wingmen.

To be fair it's not the only space game to misrepresent combat, but still
>>
>>151391526

I've big things, but they seemed mammilian and they were non violent.
>>
>>151391385

Except that the procedural generation is probably my biggest letdown with this game. It's the core feature of NMS, the one that was advertised the most. And in the end planets don't look varied enough for my taste, oceans look like lakes, there are no rivers, no big mountain ranges, no biome variations on planets (with the exception of land/ocean).

You see the same basic elements for animals and plants repeat themselves pretty quickly. And despite (or maybe because of) this relatively small amount of animal "parts" they manage to assemble them in ways that are suspension of disbelief-shattering. Like a quadruped with the head of a mouse, the body of a lizard, the legs of a bear and the tail of a scorpion. I expected a lot better.

the game is comfy but holy shit is it broken

The ship combat is way better now. Enemy ships actually do evasive manuevers and fight back and don't die immediately.

Truth is people don't know why it's a bad game or a good game. This is just /v/'s current hate-boner target for the month.

I've been playing it non-stop the past two days and I'm really liking it. If you're into a relaxed playstyle, lots of exploration, and engaging space battles then it's a pretty good game.

it's basically a shitty imitation of minecraft in space.

I'd rather have them fight back, which is what they do now. Chasing down ships that die as soon as you hit them with 2 bullets is boring as fuck. Not to mention the distances in the trailer seem to be waaaay shorter than in the actual game.

>What about wingmen? People assumed those would be other players but then Sean clarified they were actually AI. But apparently you can't call in wingmen at all.

Eh. Not that much of a loss. We still have a much better combat system than what was shown in the trailer.

Has anybody found ringed planets or those huge sandworms from the trailers? Sean has confirmed they're in, didn't he?

Wrong. The large colony ships featured in the trailer are of comparable size to the colony ships found in the game. The speed they were passing them by in the trailer is pretty slow for the game.

Depends how you play minecraft I guess, I like being able to build homes in places I like and create homebases I can go back to after a few hours of exploration. No such thing in NMS. You just walk around, mine materials, take screenshots and then move along and never come back.

Wrong.

Watch the trailer during the part when combat starts

Then watch pretty much any footage of ship combat in the final game

Flying a ship while fighting is slow as molasses in the game compared to the trailer. It isn't even a debate.

Sony got involved a while ago, I'm pretty sure PS4 has been the lead platform since then. After all they've just implemented the fov sliders a few days ago IIRC.

I would be very surprised if the PC version was significantly different from the PS4 one, hopefully it has at least a much greater draw distance, slower loading^W warp times and not more instability.
>>
>>151391908
IMO it works just as expected. The vast majority of things you will find are either boring or retarded. Then every now and then you find something that's fucking awesome. I've definitely seen mountains and oceans. Animals are the same way. Nobody should have expected everything they found to be picture-worthy. That would defeat the whole purpose of exploring.

But he's right though. Look at how fast the trailer is able to leave the atmosphere by flying at such a low angle. It takes longer to leave the atmosphere flying straight up at full speed. In the game if you want to go from planet to planet you'd have to do a pulse jump which you can't even see other ships when you're in, much less steer or fight. The distances in the trailer are extremely reduced.

I think you're right, barring this statement. The atmospheres on every planet I've been on are like, 500 feet above sea level. There have been times where I'm flying as low as the game will let me, with it's stupid uncontrollable flight, and I was skimming the atmosphere.

Variety of wildlife, more pirate encounters, the lore is starting to make sense. ASAP improvements I would implement: ability to craft and drop user markers, make a functional planet/ system map, add galactic encyclopedia that includes all info on the three main races and all the critters you've encountered.

Aside from that base building is a must, larger Capitol ships with AI point defense would be sweet, and ground transportation would be awesome. I feel like once you make it to the center there's more incentive to stick around and fully explore every planet/ system.

And depth.

Shit screenshot but they are super deep.

Has a lot of plants and the occasional schools of animals that can be seen here but ultimately pretty lackluster. All of the sea animals I've encountered have been small and harmless. Only been to two island planets with actual life though so I don't know but it seems to be the norm unfortunately.

Please stop. A lot of people don't like when a dev flip flops around on what the game is and isn't. A lot of people here who are complaining will still pirate the game and play it and probably like it but you can't dismiss people having legitimate complaints as simple whining. I was borderline shilling this game maybe 2 weeks ago but after the leaks and the debacle with the full release being buggy and not living up to what the devs said, it's hard to recommend this game at all if you're planning to get this on PC. Also learn to distinguish between legitimate criticism and blatant bait.

But /v/ has stayed contained. Look at this thread, especially for the past maybe 200 replies, it has been really nice. The shitposting was so severe yesterday that it was literally impossible to discuss the game without getting buried with people memeposting Sean, silly looking creatures, and the same tired memes we've seen the past 2 weeks, but this thread has improved massively from yesterday and there are people right now posting OC and discussing the goods and the bads of the game. Why can't people that are unhappy with the game discuss why they are unhappy with the game? You still have people that post "lol cant believe autists buy this game" and "lel blunder of the century" but this is inevitable shitposting that will probably linger for about a week and all you have to do is not reply to it and they will go away.

You guys think this game is so bad, you have to give a reference, that's how you criticize.

Tell me, specifically, the title of the game that matches NMS's scope in procedural generation. Tell me specifically which exploration sci-fi game you think is so much better than NMS.

You can not like the game, because it 'isn't your thing,' but to pretend that NMS will not have a lasting impact on the gaming industry is uneducated at best.

Been playing nearly nonstop since Tuesday. This game really is great, despite it's critics. It's not for everyone, sure, but I think that's because a lot of people don't understand it. People tend to attack things they don't understand.

But this game... the panic and confusion of that first planet, wandering around looking for heridium; the first time you realize the scope of just the first system; slowly learning to speak an alien language; working and building and improving your ship, and finally taking down a squad of pirates; finding a herd of flying wyrmbeasts peacefully gliding over a green valley of giant red trees; climbing a red mountain to watch a sunset, the blood red sand turning dark purple as the shadow of the mountain crawls over the world; dropping down through a green atmosphere to discover your first planet that's almost entirely ocean... these are just some of the moments I've had in two days of playing. I love this game.
>>
>>151408536

What the fuck are you talking about? I'm not demanding a negativity circlejerk, I'm getting the game tomorrow. This is the only thread I have open of the game but I guess that doesn't matter because unless I'm sucking the dick of this game then it's shitposting, right? I know for a fact I'll enjoy the game a lot but it is undeniable that the game is massively flawed and needs some fixing. My problem with the game is that I progressed to the end of the Atlas story line only to find out that I needed to keep 10 stones in order to progress. Then I find out that the system with the last Atlas Interface doesn't have a space station. So I go back to sell items and buy a few of the missing Atlas Stones I'm missing.

Then the fucking system disappears and it's no longer set as a waypoint.
>>
>>151405373
Nah. Planets are for sentinels. None, low, typical, high, passive, frenzied, etc.
low means you can kill animals and carbon life for a bit before they check you out.
Typical means they check you out after 3ish animal kills or carbon life destructions.
High means the Typical rules apply to minerals of all types now.
Passive just ignore them.
Frenzied means they attack on sight and shove you to 3 stars right off the bat.

I wish this game had barren planets, gas giants, ice worlds. As is, every planet has everything you need to survive, and they're all samey as fuck for it. I would much prefer to have to prepare to visit an inhospitable world, bringing the materials I need to sustain my suit and landing thrusters. If I play stupid and strand myself, so be it. Game should be harder, requiring preparation, and if you die, you start over. But it should also be easier to advance to make up for it.

I won't get a chance to play it till Saturday, but I'm hoping what you say is right. I want a comfy, pretty game that can be enjoyed with the right mindset and imagination, making your own story up as you go along. Many of the complaints I see are from people and "professional critics" whining that there's not enough stimulation. I think these are the same morons hyping it up by fantasizing about MMO features and base-building (which I'm glad is absent, as it looks ugly even in its best implementations).

All this being said, better reviews are pointing out that it has annoying, forced survival mechanics which make it a slogfest, and that alien variety isn't what it was supposed to be. Also, it's total bullshit that the devs outright lied about seeing other players. I didn't want to trade, fight, co-operate, or anything, I just wanted the magic of running into someone else in such a big, empty universe.
>>
>>151410651
Its all pretty random, and ships are pretty expensive. That being said i am currently farming some units to buy something in the 20-25 million range, i saw a few huge ships land with tons of slots and they looked cool as fuck for around that pricing. My first upgrade i ever did was with 1.8 million units and have used that ship throughout the whole game, i am close to the center though and want to get a good ship first.

Would be nice if there was some kind of unique resource that you needed to scoop from gas giants if they were in, with storms around you and having to risk damaging your ship. Always reminds me of that Halo 2 level where you're hanging above the clouds of that gas giant.

I just left a system with a literal hell. Entirely barren, no animals, no plants, no minerals, baseline temp is 189C, heat storms shove that into Extreme and happen for 5 minutes every 2 minutes, die in about 30 seconds in storms, sentinels frenzied, no atmosphere, had to trade for everything using my stash.
The only thing worth it in that system was its identical twin covered in extreme radiation before storms, had gravballs, had sky jellyfish that drop radnox, and had mountains of emeril.
My start was a -200C 50tox 50 rad low atmo with only thaumiun plants for isotopes and frenzied sentinels.
Yes there's often garden worlds but god damn if there isn't occasionally Fuck You planets.

So it's still a 50/50 bad/good rating on this game?

This is the most divided I've seen a community on a game, half defending half saying its bad. What's the verdict? I have it preordered from a few months back so Im getting it either way (PC version).

It's because the expectations of the game were much higher than what was delivered.

It's a space-themed open world exploration game with light survival elements. If that sounds good to you, you'll like it. Don't expect it to blow your mind or anything, it's not some revolutionary "game to end all games."

This game NEEDS multiplayer, and crafting to survive. Maybe a system search function.

I can only do the same 7 things over and over, all alone, for so long.

But with multiplayer, the whole general could take a good (full of nice planets) solar system very close to the center of the galaxy. Build large city like structures for trading, and a hangar to store ships in. Have freighters full of supplies in orbit of the planets. Caves full of hidden resources in case of attack. Reddit might have a nearby system, and we could organize raids on them, and destroy their shit.

The possibilities were endless. And Sean fucked it up. All he had to do was make MMO minecraft in space. Easily would've been game of the year. And he fucked it up.
>>
>>151411819
It feels like a promising Early Access game but they. I like it but I definitely hope it gets more content because it desperately needs some.

I just hope someone reasonable is planning the updates rather than Sean with his "with PS Neo we can put more leaves in the trees!" rhetoric

>>
>>151411819
Verdict: it delivers what it promised in the trailers and most of the baseline shit sean said. It however doesn't have anything close to shit he dodged when questioned that people speculated about. Planets are planet sized, space is space sized but you have shit that makes travel easy, minor survival elements depending on planet you're on, can subsist as an explorer, pirate, or trader as promised, the universe is universe sized, and no multiplayer unless you physically find someone in universe which is statistically near impossible.
If you like good looking exploration based games go for it. If you want first person shooters or space sims then its not your game.
The bad verdicts seem to being coming from people hoping for vastly more than what the trailers showed or believed/read into the shit Sean dodged or hinted at in interviews.

I find it hard to believe that they were going to add anything substantial with a 3 day window. If all they're working on is a FOV slider they may as well just release it and give instructions on changing it on config files. They would have saved a lot of money from people who cancelled their preorders.

This game is ALL about keeping going and exploring, but the main gameplay around that is.. just not good?

I really just don't like the way the devs have communicated at all and it's a big reason why I cancelled my preorder. I knew that the game was going to be pretty basic and I was okay with that, I love exploration but I don't trust them enough now with what I have seen to fix the issues I have seen. Will still play it and buy it when it goes on sale, though. Also there is no multiplayer period, there is no statistically small chance because the chance is zero.

We can hope, man. Imagine even having the trade posts hanging above the clouds from tethered posts in space. Imagine destroying the tethers and plunging the station into a storm.

Probably because they don't want anyone datamining the game. Remember NMS has no DRM besides steamworks so it probably won't be too difficult to analyze

Also there's a pretty good chance the PC version will run like ass at launch. The lack of recommended specs is a huge red flag.
>>
>>151413368
I'm hoping they will combine base building with the freighters somehow so you can have a traveling base. I'd love to park in some empty corner of space and walk around inside my freighter.
>>
>>151412308
I agree with this. It's become apparent that this is what it's always been; an indie game that got a huge studio behind it that pushed it like a AAA. So far what I've seen is an extremely promising baseline, but it needs constant improvement to really shine. Base building, ground transportation, user edited galactic encyclopedia, crafter beacons so you can mark and return to places, freighters. For me the hardest part so far is that I've gone pretty far in the galaxy, but the galaxy map doesn't really give a sense of where you've been or what you've seen. I would love the ability to craft a plaque or flag saying 'he asshole' I was here check out the comfy base I left for you. Also how boss would it be to find a derelict Capitol ship floating in space and repair that bitch, dock your ship and fly to the next system. I wanna jump into a system and instead of asteroids everywhere find a floating graveyard of blown up ships, and just wonder wtf happened here. And of course scrap it all and sell it
> shekeling intensifies

>>151414287

He deliberately obfuscate elements of the game (specifically multiplayer) in order to fuel speculation and hype.
>>
>>151414114

I fully understand that, but people met already and couldn't find each other, and then he blunders up a response that made no sense, and even before that he couldn't give a direct answer and contradicted himself by saying that meeting someone else has a low chance and then saying that the game isn't multiplayer. I think he meant it as in "The game doesn't define itself by being multiplayer" but jesus fucking christ I wish someone would take the fucking Twitter account away from Sean, he has no idea how to talk to people. Where's our PC specs? Is the game multiplayer or not? What options will we have on the PC release? Does the game even have netcode at all to begin with to support multiplayer interaction beyond seeing systems others have discovered?

And then I have a lot of things that I don't like that are in the game. Not being able to skim the ground like in trailers, a lot of crashes, I could go on. Don't get me wrong I know I'll love the game but I can definitely understand why many people are upset.

This game really feels like an Early Access game. I payed $60 for an Early Access game. What the fuck. Maybe they'll make it not trash?

Either way. If they plan to update it, they better do it fast, people are already getting dissapointed and bored, and will soon forget all about it. Their playerbase will leave and they'll be updating a dead game.

You could argue they've already made all the money they want and will take it and run, but I don't think Sean is evil. I feel like Sony pushed them, and they had to release their game in an unfinished state. Now Sony has 2 PR blunders on their hands. Ghostbusters and NMS.

They have to add Multiplayer and building, and soon, or the game will die.
>>
>>151414648
I'm just scared because I've had this same feeling with many actual Early Access games that either just didn't go anywhere or went in a completely different direction from what was good about the already existing content.

If they just add more meaningful craftables, further develop the different approaches to enjoying the content like deepening being a trader and add some QOL features I'll be very happy with the game.

>>
>>151415571
It's a valid concern, I would hate to have waited 3 years for the game and then wait another 2 for basic gameplay elements to be introduced. So far things are pretty comfy tho, I'm taking my time Jewing about, stacking those shekels and trying to max out my inventory. Once I'm properly equipped I'll start making my way to center. I want to see a full scale war between the Korvax and Gek, it would be cool to have huge ships warp in shooting each other to prices, and you have to pick a side, would make the whole 'standing' thing more
Meaningful

Fuck yeah, and some sort of marker system to say this was built by x player. It's cool to warp around and find ruins and shit from the big three, but it would add that extra bit of zing if you warped into an unknown system and there was a beacon active and you go down and find some other persons base camp with a flag or something, no telling how long ago they were there or what they were doing, but it would give the universe a lived in feel, while driving home the vastness of it.

Dunkey's preferences in games definitely come into play here. Even if you take away the insults, "Dunkey prefers very structured games so he can say shit into the mic" is an objective statement. True or not, I don't know, but it's still an objective statement.

Only if you allow them to be crushed. What are you looking for? If you want razor sharp shoot em up space warfare, you will be disappointed. If you want comfy space exploration at a walking pace where you can take in the crazy sights, you will be happy. Personally, I'm enjoying being a one man mining conglomerate. Are there issues? Hell yea. Lots of features are missing that should be in the game at launch, devs say more is coming in updates, but take that with a grain of salt. There's lots of stuff I'd like to see in the game, but for now I'm happy. Now if they don't make
With the base building and other ui and gameplay tweaks in the next few months I'll start to get a little bitter.

For those not clear: You go into the centre of the galaxy and get transported to a whole new galaxy in a new dimension (so, technically a new universe).

The galaxy is named 'Hilbert Dimension' the first one is called 'Euclidean Galaxy'.

David Hilbert and Euclid were famous mathematicians.

The new galaxy has more expensive items to claim, like 40 million for a new ship.

Fair point. I guess my hope is that they will be addressed in a timely manner. For the time being none of it is game breaking, I'm still having fun playing, and tbqh having a tough time tearing myself away from it for work and shit. Now, does that mean I will feel the same way in a month or two? Probably not, hopefully new features will be implemented by then. But I put 10+ hours a day into this game the last two days and I honestly can't say when the last time was that i spent that kind of time on a game. I was starting to think maybe I was getting too old for games because nothing grabbed me, NMS has made me feel like a 10 year old popping on I dunno, chronic trigger or something. Obviously vastly different games, but that feeling is the same for me. That I wanna skip school or call out just to spend more time mining or flying around.

I've actually seen more insightful posts about this game on /v/ than here, but that's counterbalanced by the fact there's way more shitposting about this game due to the sheer volume of posts.

People seem to think that /vg/ is supposed to be some sort of refuge for like minded individuals who genuinely enjoy games (unlike those filthy /v/ermin) to take part in high level discussion. There's a huge difference between the vast majority of devs and NoMansSky.
Everyone else give clear reasons and early notifications about changes.
Sean Murray talked about features for several years and never wrote any concrete features down in the game's feature list, and he never warned us multiplayer/online tags were gonna be removed, nor did he explain why they were removed.
