If I'm supposed to attack the head, am I not supposed to be anywhere near the head? Am I supposed to hit it from the tail or something? How do I hit the head without being hit? Attack recovery frames aren't long enough for me to hit/sheathe/away (in most cases) and I get fucked in SA's refractory period on side evade.

The only time I can deal any substantial damage is mounting, and that's a pretty powerful mechanic that feels like a crutch.

There are two attacks that shaggy is most likely to do if you linger around near his head.

The double virus explosions and the triple virus breath.

Both have a big tell and easy as fuck to position yourself into a level 3 charge to the face.

I've been using sns and db for a while now, you'll want to look for guns with a high number of normal 2 and/or pierce 2 and high attack power. The shaggy gun is usually considered the best normal gun.

I just started using hunting horn for multiplayer

I crafted metal bag pipes and hunter's horn.

Hunters horn seems better because it has earplugs and attack up L. But a lot of people online are suggesting metal bag pipes because of the defense and health boost. How much of a damage loss is there between attack L and S? No one ever carts in my hunts so i dont see why the health and defense would be worth it at this point.

Why is solo key rushing so frowned upon on mhg? Doesn't it make more sense to try and get to higher ranks so you can farm for better equipment sooner, then go back and finish lower quests?

I used to say Forest and Hills was my least favorite flagship area but having a reminder of Ancestral Steppe and Forest and Hills in the same game has opened my eyes.

Ancestral Steppe is the worst flagship area by far, Forest and Hills is second place for worst but is still leagues ahead of Ancestral Steppe.

Gen 4 areas need to be forgotten except Slayground, Jurassic Frontier, Primal Forest, and Heaven's Mount.

I don't really mind Ancestral Steppe. The only thing that I think really hurts it is that it's one of those maps where it takes fucking forever to get from one side of it to the other. If they added a one-way shortcut or two to help navigate it quickly, it'd be pretty good. Still prefer it to Arctic Ridge, honestly.

I wish that the 1st-gen areas had representation other than Forest and Hills, though. The layout is the exact same except the water areas are now just shallow pools you could run on but monsters like Gobul could still splash around in them and be submerged.

Deathprize has 30 para, triple the amount on the cat para sword, and is a fast weapon that doesn't need to build up gauges to apply hits.
And you'll get about 3 para, 4 at most out of it in a group hunt.
And it has a respectable 190 raw.

With the cat sword you'll be lucky if you can pull 2 para per hunt, and all the bonus damage from the hunters ganging up on it is offset by the fact that you're using a weapon with 100 raw.
