Don't. I haven't played VIII but the Ys series is not something I would recommend for its story, ever. It does just enough to get the action going and has enough narrative beats to, well, be a story at all. They are games you play for the action, though to be fair Celceta wasn't the best introduction to the series on that front. I actually would've advised against starting with that game, opting instead for either I&II Chronicles or Oath in Felghana.

I heard color saturation is better, and input lag is lower. Personally, I find no difference in that aspect. I do notice my Vita 2k screen is brighter when I'm outdoors during summer.

Freaking wonderful game just with the basic playthrough, and all the potential to be even more awesome with all the content outside main story. Pretty much the best kind of rogue-lite you can get with your money, I only hope this leads to other games being released in some form or another on portable consoles. The only thing that I legitimately don't like is the fact that Aksys really shat on EU fans with digital-only shit. If you look at it just as a game it's right there with Disgaea 4 among the quintessential titles any Vita owner should have in their collection. It's that good. It was exactly what I had hoped for.

Total playtime showed 20:54 for me, and many hours of that were spent on the statue maze minigame, so I'd say that the average beat-the-game time being under 20 hours is pretty valid.
