It's not supposed to crash your system m8, but if you have errors, that's bad.

Any specific cores?

Have you run memtest? See if you get errors on that, if so, go through every combination of RAM sticks in your system and see if there are any combinations that do not produce errors.

Also triple check your cpu voltage, memory voltage, and memory timings. I don't trust those goddamn "auto-(de-)overclocking" bios things to set them right.

One other thing I thought of: go into your bios and monitor the voltage you're getting from your power supply to your chip and your memory. Make sure it's consistent. I've never seen a power supply fail but it could happen.

Yeah second wave remastered. On the one hand I really do like it to introduce more of a variety in your units so 2 grenadiers are never the same - even if you give them different abilities or they get a different GTS perk.

On the other hand endgame on that broken save I had rangers (LW) with something like 90-100 basic aim + 20 superior scope + 17-20 PCD whatever it's called.

I'll prob run with it again because it was really only GG no RE at the endgame and that always happens. Up until then it was tough but managable

I'm playing Xcom 2 with the longwar toolbox mod, plus aba, aba all the enemies, and LW perks and LW ayys. I've got squad size set to six base, eight max. I just bought the first squad size up, but once I deploy I can't use the 7th member of my squad. I can select them manually, but tab and shift skip over them. When I select them manually they have no move range displayed and can't move if I tell them to move to a tile I'm sure they can reach. Anybody else have this problem?

You can import him in your character pool and have him show up as a normal soldier to train as you wish.
Funnily enough, that means you can end up with double Bradford in that mission.

Probably. If you set your game to be Character Pool only soldiers and you start the game with nothing in the pool except Bradford, won't it just spawn him multiple times? Alternatively, you can import him into the pool more than once, so you can do it that way too.

I use a pretty small pool of soldiers and among the initial batch of rookies there was a random soldier, plus a couple randoms available for recruiting.
This is with forced pool spawns, so unless someone figures out how to force multiple spawns for the same character, it won't work.
But yes, was thinking about importing it multiple times. Although props customization is restricted for him, I believe I saw options for Ink and Paint.
Need to give it a try, but giving him a tattoo or some other invisible or covered prop should make the engine think they're different characters, although they are visually the same.

I ran prime95 two more times and bluescreened once and crashed my computer the way i described earlier once. Errors in #6, 4, 8, and 2 in that order. 8 and 2 were actually 100 warnings and not errors. It didnt last long before my computer crashed. I tried running XCOM 2 again and it worked but everything was flashing blue pink and green. This happened to me once before when I was on the final mission, only a month or so after I built my computer this past December. Running memtest now, about 50% and no errors yet. One of my friends is concerned that my cpu melted something earlier when I was using the shitty stock fan that came with it. If that guy from earlier is still here, more help would be greatly appreciated.

If you can be without a CPU for a few weeks (sorry!) and you're in warranty (they're usually 3 years or so), see if you can call up their tech support, tell them you've run prime95 and found errors but memtest found no errors. They will most likely issue you an RMA and exchange it for a new chip.

Try running XCOM 2 again. Yeah, you'll probably have to turn your settings down a bit, but try to torture test it and see if you can get it to crash. General objective being to have as much information before you call your chip manufacturer support line up and say, 'hey, you gave me a shit chip'. Even if you were overclocking, there's no way a chip should fail inside a year unless you were running it at 100C or some shit.

My friend had a nightmare build with random crashes similar to what you're describing. The chip manufacturer did conclude it was their problem and offered to replace it, but rather than be without a computer for 3 weeks he opted to replace the whole system, so we never conclusively determined what was the issue.

Haha, he just did search for his old CPU model that caused him so much trouble and it came up with users having all kinds of errors. Was supposed to be a 4Ghz ultimate chip, etc. etc. I think they cut some corners.

To add to this question, I pretty much just want an extra Advent soldier or two per pod. I just think it's a bit more immersive for there to be plenty of them accompanying various pods, even alien heavy ones. I love mowing down foot soldiers too. Yes, I threw this out a couple days ago. It seems that if you reload a save and take the same actions as the first time, results will be different.
Subsequent reloads of the same save will be identical to that second time.
Also, I thought this was limited to once per mission, but I tried a small test yesterday, and it seemed that it actually happens for every single save.
The reloads have a different set of rolls compared to the "original" turn.

Alternative use A Better AI if you don't want ABA's enemy variants. I've been pretty impressed with it so far. Just keep in mind if you don't already play on Legend the mod removes all the limits on how many enemies can engage you at once that the lower difficulties have.

It's been surprisingly nice to see sectoids move to flank and fucking dome one of my soldiers instead of resurrecting a corpse on the other side of the map.

Soldiers will survive getting shot (or not) and or will need to be stabilized. People start to survive more often with carapace, and will often survive with titan armor. And then of course there is second heart.

A single medkit is rarely a bad idea and shouldn't gimp your squads killing potential.

Correct. It's also 33% chance they will survive. Adding in bleedout and crit chance puts you probably at about the same place.

Where do you get this assumption? Fact is by carapace and definitely titan, soldiers will survive getting hit. When having a medkit is the difference between making sure a high-ranking soldier doesn't bleedout, then yeah, your gonna want one. Secondary heart does make medkits work 100% of the time.

The game does exist beyond your first mission with 4hp rookies.

Also by Long War or even X2 they are even more useful, but that is a different point

Definitely worth it. But if your expecting Long War, obviously your gonna be disappointed. Its a sequel to X1 EW and does some things different some better, some worse.

Modding support is great and continues to move forward. With mods you can build your own Long War experience, though there is not an official "long war" overhaul yet.

Customizaton, mods, specialists (support) are acutally good now. Sparks aren't as cool as MECs (yet) though some simple .ini editing or a mod fixes their fist to actually ragdoll ayys properly. Haven't weighed in yet so I will now.

It is not as good as LW out of the box. Honestly I was so disappointed by it that I haven't played it since winning my first campaign, so I can't tell you if mods can make it equal to or better than LW. I would put its value around $25.

How do you win the LW Base Defense? In EW vanilla I remember the strategy being camp the upper floors and overwatch, but my shit's just dying in LW. If you don't mind being spoiled about one of the classes trees in the Perk Pack, here's a bit of advice. Take it on Grenadiers. They get a perk later on called Sting Grenades, giving your flashbangs a chance to stun. With T2 launchers, the radius of them is massive and you can nullify a sea of organics. The very last perk, Full Kit, will not only give you a bonus use of the utility only slot, but will give you an extra free flashbangs, meaning you get two Sting Grenades.

That being said they won't go with the meme of Xcom having lost again. They might change what the victory meant or how hard/easy fought it was - maybe in Xcom3 they won with magnetics and no psionics because the elder's hiv-psi-aids went into overdrive, so that way you start with gauss weapons and no psionics.

Though they can easily solve the issue of starting with plasma/beam by just making it no ethereals = no elerium sources + 10-20 years post war = no more plasma and tech is just low-medium tier sci fi and not high tier plasma and armor you can phase through walls with.

You could almost make it exactly the same in the case of XCOM2 though since you could have the avenger as your ship, and have boarding staff and crew management, would be amazing imo and fighting UFOs is something XCOM2 is severely lacking. I had an idea one time for a combination of prison architect and FTL where you design and manage a prison ship that you also have to defend against pirates while transporting prisoners from one end of the galaxy to another. Avoiding mutiny would be one of the main focuses of the game, and there would be rehabilitation clinics and torture rooms and stuff you could use to keep your prisoners controlled enough to be used as staff. Maybe lategame there would be mind control and stuff too I guess. I started working on it with a couple friends at one point but we didn't get very far with it.

Is because i still have PTSD after my first attempt in the game after it came out.

I got so fucking rekt by that mission because it had mechs, sneks and other shit that i got squad wipped and then the whole game snowballed on me and failed.

To begin with, you got to the end of April.
Pre T2 legend can fuck you over since everything can just oneshot you.
Bad luck/poor decisions can end up with you engaging more than one pod at once, lose one soldier and chances are someone will panic. Squad wipe is pretty much inevitable at that point.

Early game is the hardest part, if you get to mags you start snowballing.

Once I hit predator and plasma I'm so bored. It's just too damn boring, nothing really changes, it just gets easier as you go and its not really easier its just less annoying. There is no discovery in this game. There should have been discovery, like rare ayys, rare ufos, rare armor pieces and attachements, cosmetics etc etc. There should have been allies that you have to contend with and gain relations through diplomacy, or just wipe them out and take their supplies. There should have been undercover missions and UFO capturing for more avengers. The fuck happened to all the ayys UFOs exactly? They were designed for FTL, no way theyre gona degrade in 20 years.

They screwed up XCOM2 bad and just created something lazy and bug ridden.

-The tutorial was pretty good, showcased that losing soldiers isn't bad and was pretty cinematic. 8/10.
-The game itself has some weird technical issues, like random pauses without any clear reason for those pauses. This happens throughout the game: when enemies get shot, when enemies get spotted, when backing out of constructing a facility and at several other times. -1.
-Shooting itself feels less 'powerful' than the three shot bursts from XCOM1, but I'm assuming this'll get better when I get better guns. Temporary -0.5.
-The ranger and the grenadier have silly equipment. I personally believe giving humans melee weapons was a huge mistake, and an attempt to attract more casual normies to the genre. Not a fan. The minigun, too, feels out of place. -0.5.
-The DLC weaponry is just ABHORRENT. Why the FUCK is a FLINTLOCK PISTOL better than a revolver in every possible way? Including stuff like this again feels like the developers were trying to pander to the lowest common denominator, which doesn't do the game any good. No points deducted because I'm just not going to use them, but what the fuck?

I'd rate it a 7/10 as of now. Will it get better or worse the more I play? Also what does intel do?

Modded XCOM 2 is where the game truly goes to 8 or 9/10. Finish a Vanilla campaign, then go absolutely ham with all of the mods you want. Ask us for suggestions too, there's a ton that's used. Yeah, about that...
4th pod caught me by surprise, but it went just fine otherwise. Early-mid game Device protection is a nice break from ruthless timers everywhere.
And the hidden event was a Resistance Informant. Seems like I made the right choice for once.

I can understand why you would think this if you only played the 2012 reboot but Xcom: apocalypse had fucking power swords and UFO defense had stun baton things.

Also the mini guns where in UFO defense, they were named "auto cannons".

That may or may not change how you feel about them in the game but what I'm getting at is they're not new to the series, they're just being reintroduced.
