The Beastmen are a cool faction but the pack is a bit overpriced for what you get. There probably won't be a price drop for some time, so if you're impatient or really like the Beastmen then go ahead, otherwise wait it out.

Double click a spell (it needs to be a boostable spell and you need to have enough magic in the magic pool) to overcast the spell
There's a 50% chance that the caster damages itself though!

>QUEST BATTLE TELEPORT
Select your lord (make sure he isn't garrisoned or in a stance)
Select the quest battle (on the map or through quest log)
There's a button in the bottom right of the quest battle window that you can use to teleport for 5k gold (when the battle's finished you're automatically teleported back to your original position)

Group units with ctrl + g
Select your group and right click the enemy
All your units move and automatically direct themselves to and engage enemies they get close to while maintaining formation

Try to think a few turns ahead.

Scout out around your territory and or areas of interest so you know when something is coming.
Don't worry about settlements so much, if you lose one you can get it back latter/easier. All it really coasts you is maybe some income/time.
Just don't rush yourself or take unneeded risks.

Alternately train yourself by only using it for REAL disasters. Like your low health gen getting friendly fired while chasing down routing units.

That's pretty optimistic. Not saying it will or wont happen, but that's a lot of content in a short time frame. There were months in between culture packs and those were largely re-used assets. But then again it's possible the DLC team has been working on some of this for a while now, judging from the datamined stuff.

Personally I don't think we'll get anything this month, and then in September we'll get:

>Wurrzag
>Lore/Hero

Followed by another month or two of nothing then in December they'll release the Wood Elf Campaign pack + Bretonnia + Lore/Hero. After the new year though I'll be interested in seeing what they do because I think we'll be in for a real long dry spell after January.

I think you're a bit wrong with the Wood Elf campaign date and its release being around Bretonnia's. Bretonnia doesn't have much left to do. All it needs is a unique mechanic and a few buildings, stats for some current buildings and a tech tree. Any new units can just be copy/pasted Empire units with stat and texture changes. That's not much at all to do and considering mods have already done it, there's no reason why they can't bring out Wood Elves way earlier than December.

I imagine most Beastmen work went into the unique skeletons that no other race will use, the mini campaign and textures and the same could be debatably said for Elves, who, for all we know, could be upscaled human skeletons.

not that guy, but i think you'd be surprised at how long a development cycle can take even for things that seem simple. art assets, sounds, voice work, texture design, balance, qa, animations all of it takes a lot of time to run through the numerous iterations all of those things go through

then theres all the other backend stuff, the writing the wiki entries, the marketing material etc. and this is all being done by i imagine a relatively small team 20-30 people who are just human beans trying to balance work/life.

so yeah i could see december, but at the same time i could see it sooner i have no idea how far along they are or how long they've been working on it. but don't assume it's all just simple texture swaps. even that requires some effort.

Well apparently the Attila DLC team has move into doing work on Warhammer full time. And considering bretonnia is already 90% there already I do think a bretonnia/elf release could be possible.

Would also make sense for single lord/unit DLC/FLC packs to come out as filler for the in between months.

Pretty much, I don't know if it's changed or not but pretty much the Old Ones are supposed to have created most of the life in the old world.

They where experimenting and trying to create the perfect race to fight chaos with. But they disappeared before they could complete their work.

Not really, they were all created in the same manner, that is the old ones made them to fight chaos with certain traits in mind, but they are distinct from each other, humans didn't evolve into ogres or anything like that. The old ones just kept making races because none of them were perfect for fighting chaos. They all had drawbacks, like High elves, superhuman strength agility and intelligence. You don't. It's one of the biggest fuck-ups in the Chaos campaign. The best (and only thing) you can do is to hire a bunch of chaos sorcerers, level them up and get block army on all of them.

Chaos REALLY need ambush stance and block army available from the start on an agent. It's so fucking stupid that they don't have either.

i tried so hard...

i lost 621 in the battle. it seemed pretty close at one point but just as i thought i was doing okay it gave me a -1 morale malus because my men were 'overwhelmed'. that's true but they were far less overwhelmed by this point than they were at the start of the battle.

There really isnt that much to pay attention to unless you do trying to do something fancy (see; non optimal)

A solid tough front line holds up the majority of the units, archers in rear fire on important units or other archers

99% of the fight takes place around your flanks, and in 99% of those cases you win one and lose the other, which means you win anyway because the AI can never take an advantage and press it as well as the player can.

The moment you realize which flank you are going to win just keep micro'ing it through the AI lines killing everything else.

Conquer Marienburg by turn 20. Try to make friends with Nordland (will probably not work). Break all treaties with Stirland on turn 5. Make friends with Middenburg for a buffer between you and Chaos. Make friends with Talabecland. Try to make friends with Nuln, but if you can't, conquer them and then conquer Averland.

Empire campaign is all about consolidation. When the Warriors of Chaos first arrive, start confederating and allying with EVERYONE. Also, try to take out Vampires as soon as you can, when you've took over most of the Empire south of the River Reik.

I'm a huge fan (Or rather I used to be a huge fan) of the Total War franchise, but one of the biggest gripes I've been having with the newer games is how whitewashed and streamlined everything's become. This really starts to show up after Shogun 2, and is a big reason why I'm not planning on bothering with future games . This is especially bad in Rome 2. Egyptians are Arabian looking even though Egyptians at that time period would've still looked ethnically "Black". Rome is 100% white for some reason. It's really, really embarrassing. So, thankfully, I've been able to find a few mods that corrected that:

Corruption is mildly difficult to spread outside your own borders, but it'll surprise you when you're building up infrastructure and you see your neighbor taking attrition in his own territory.

Conquest isn't difficult at all, most cities can be island-hopped to, and in battle you get actually fun and useful magic.

Not really. Sort of. Good against horsefuckers and they're fine in campaign.

The problem is in multiplayer and building the most cost-effective army is necessary. Spears simply aren't cost effective because they get smashed no matter what. A braced, deep-formation spear wall is still going to lose AT LEAST half it's men on the charge. Your best case scenario is essentially trading a spear unit for a horse unit. At that point you might as well have a sword unit that will fight better against infantry and perform equally shitty against cavalry.

There used to be an old strategy where people would bring spears with their cavalry to win a flank or whatever, but now that strategy is pretty shit. The best thing to do is bring heavy shock infantry like 2-hand axes behind your cavalry, and send them in once your horses clash and the enemy can't withdrawl without taking massive losses.

Most people just take swords because spears don't beat cavalry decisively-enough to be worth it over a sword unit.

key words there. In previous total war games, any cavalry stupid enough to charge head-first into a spear wall would be lucky to get 10 kills. They'd be slaughtered mercilessly. In Attila, that same head-on charge will kill at least 40-50 men instantly and starting hacking away at another 40 or so before they start taking casualties themselves. The fact that people can defend small towns from full stacks with a single unit of scout equites should give you a decent picture of how fucked the balance is.

Spears are undeniably the most shit they've ever been in a total war game.
Still moderately useful in campaign because they AI is batshit retarded and is still worried about charging them. If only they knew that charging a spear wall in the flank is actually worse than charging a spear wall from the front, and yet they always go for the flank, get shot up, and then countercharged.

Regular spearmen are what I actually use in campaigns. Even if the enemy brings archers, you can just dedicate a spearman unit to run them to the edge of the map, you are still winning since archers costs at least 400+.

Doing MP with a buddy (orcs and VC) and the god damn greenskins have at the very least 8 armies, all 20 stacks, and sometimes they just sit 4 in the same province, while there's one way up north, one east of zhufbar, and several still in the badlands. It's fun, in an arcadey kind of way. I personally like both the historical strains and this latest divergence to fantasy, but I've never been a Europa Barborum sort of player.

The sides are all very different, but as of right now there are four plus another two DLC that you'd have to buy. Magic can shift battles, but not too tremendously (Barring CA fucking up the balance in another patch, but that's just the risk we all have to bear) so you shouldn't rage as a fight you should have won turns around on a single fireball. Hammer and anvil is still the order of the day. I never play multiplayer, but apparently that's a mess with all manner of overpowered builds making it unfun. So if you're in it for multiplayer, beware.

For what little counts, Attila is my favorite Total War game, and Warhammer Total War is now my second favorite, and they're neck and neck now. I've always been the kind of loser that likes the 'feel' of a campaign, and Warhammer's campaign has that in buckets. Whether you're an unstoppable greenskin tide, humanity holding on to existence by the fingernails, or the unyielding apocalypse of Chaos, each campaign provided a great play through for me.

In tabletop, the Hellcannon only has three crew-Dwarfs. All they do is provide some extra bodies and strength value to the unit as a whole.

In lore-terms, Chaos Dwarfs ain't no slouches, but it's more likely they'll get eaten by their own machinery than face the enemy in a melee.

Attila is my favorite in the whole series and it has some amazing mods coming out soon. After the 1212 mod comes out you will be able to play campaigns from 202BC through the mid 15th century all within a single game. (skipping from late 800s to 1212 will be the biggest gap.)

Problem with attila on higher difficulties is that it requires a cookie-cutter balancing act to actually create a province that balances food, income, squalor, and public order. Roman factions can manage it because of their superior sanitation buildings, but other factions can't possibly cope with the squalor and usually need a waterworks in every single settlement, whereas a roman province only needs like one aqueduct or whatever and the rest of the settlements can have industry and such. Normally though it's just a shit ton of public order and sanitation buildings to combat the ridiculous penalties

Wood Elves never did get the sort of fairy units they needed. They actually took away sprites from the 6th edition army book, when it would've been a good opportunity for some ethereal models to make everyone buy.

Make binding circles in EVERY settlement. Each one gives +1 banshee cap. Train banshees every time you can, and spec them into +15% income in regions. Move all of them to Drakenhof so they all beef the shit out of your gold mines. To level them up, spam them on Zhufbar doing whatever for XP. You only need to get to level 5. Also, build necro towers and vampire keeps in all your capital settlements, Drakenhof asap.

Capture order should be Eschen -> Waldenhof -> Eschen if it gets recaptured, Templehof if it doesn't -> Fort Oberstyre -> Schwarzhofen.

Don't over expand. You have to wait for corruption to creep into nearby enemy regions from Balefire braziers and osmosis and shit. You will suffer massive happiness penalties in uncorrupted settlements, so don't overextend. That will kill you off pretty quick.

Stay away from the larger but small regions like Ostermark. The distance between the settlements and the amount of settlements (2) makes it way too hard to vampires to defend because everyone hates you.

Kill Karak Kadrin early on and Zhufbar when you are done grinding your banshees. Orcs will probably move into their towns so you will have places to grind agent XP still.

Honestly If you don't want to wait for a sale or something I'd say go for it. personally I've gotten a lot of enjoyment out of it so far. Like 140 hours and I'm still going.

I can't say if it will be the same for you of course. But having factions that feel quite different from each other has been a really nice change of pace for the series.

Just don't go in expecting a ton of content a lot of it is still on the way in terms of factions and features or is DLC at the moment.

I've stomped stunties, razed Vampire Cunts, kicked the Big Bird in the balls and Archeon aka Arch-chump finally SAID MY NAME (twice) in the 15k+ battle,

Is there any achievemet or special lord for finishing the campaign? Empire is in ruins cause Chaos butt-fucked them, 2 minor stunties factions shat their pants so hard that they offerd me a vassalege but I guess I would have to backtrack to them and stomp them.

I love Attila's setting. The inspiration for the game is great, the mechanics too, as well as the scale. It's perfectly right for Total War. It covers a nice range of factions, and I think all of the Campaign focused DLC is fun.

But dammit, I feel no mirth or feedback from a charge. Cavalry doesn't hold impact, or weight. Archers seem to do so very little. And there's no color in it whatsoever. Plus, it sorta feels like everything is moving through tree sap. And battles go way too quickly, something that Radious fixes...kinda. It doesn't feel like units are really wearing each other down, but more waiting to break because morale for all of them is so ass.

But morale for Warhammer is ass too, and I hate how easily shit breaks in that too. But it has a lot more going for it, I guess.

Well the Key here I'd say is they're opening up this whole "Regiments of Renown recruitment menu" thing. So as far as we know this could be the first step in order to get something like the Dogs of War implemented.

There's still like 2 more games worth of content to come out and they did say they're going to try and make more than they had planned.

they have higher missile damage and can shoot behind them, so they would work well getting unarmored people to chase them around while slowly dying, except that they have a much higher reload time than outriders so they are completely useless. His name is Zacharias the Everliving. He is a wizard that fights hard like a bastard. He will get THREE (3) lords of magic; vampire, death, and newly added shadow. Mannfred over Kemmler, and grab the two Sylvania regions, from there it slows down, you need to spread corruption. Try to get agents with Ghoul whisperers and send them into enemy territory to get corruption going. Also the first chaos invasion is neutral towards you so use that to grab some lands as the rest of the world is trying to stop them.
