Excavated Evil is amazing because you don't play many minions and it denies a card draw from your opponent. Imagine being zoo and drawing that card. It's great. And Entomb is great against control.

It's so easy to set up 25+ damage. The main problem is control warrior but nobody plays that any more. This deck shits on aggro/tempo/dragon warrior. Nothing is safe from OTK warrior, don't blame priest for that.

Although the biggest boon for this deck is that nobody else is playing it. They don't play around the fact that you have board clears out the ass and that you can do 25 damage from hand. Warlocks often tap into lethal range without even knowing it.

Granted I'm only at rank 7 and this deck can probably be refined a bit more by people that actually know what they're doing.

Dragon Warrior is meant to be a midrange deck, yet it regularly wins on turn 6 just from charging Alex's Champs at face, Kor'krons at face, Weapons at face, while ignoring everything (or just removing your minion for 1 mana while dropping a 3/3).

The only time Midrange stops being aggro is when it faces an even faster deck like Face Shaman. Against everything else it's face face face face.

The real deck archetypes in the game are:

- Face (Face Hunter, Face Shaman)
- Aggro (Every "midrange" deck and Zoo)
- Control
- Combo

Aggro should be Midrange

Take RDW or Goblins, archetypal aggro decks that literally just have you attack every turn with no real regard to board control. That's what Face does.

Dragon Warrior is actually midrange and can combat aggro very well. Deck that fucked up perception of 'midrange' in HS was old midrange hunter which sucked ass against aggro and was just aggro hunter with houndmaster and OP highmane. It wasn't meant to play control role against aggro effectively and solely relied on pressuring slow decks.

If you weren't illiterate you would had read the book, knew how Chapin uses the terms for deckbuilding and for gameplay, and would be sperging "NO ONE DOES XD".

But alas, you won't ever pirate (steal) the book in order to be a little better in card games and a little less ignorant.

It only just occurred to me, but the state this adventure is in makes sense in a way, doesn't it? They just had a big recruitment drive with the invite a friend mechanic, and HS has always had questions raised over the "new player experience."

Whilst the cards in this expansion don't look as exciting to the more experienced players, they're a perfect mix for a relatively new player. The 5/6 with the free legendaries, the 1/1 factory, the Curator/zoo shenanigans, the portal cards. They all seem to be designed along the philosophy of high yield for low game time investment.

Without a doubt the best course of action for a new player now is to save up gold and purchase this expansion. It's a good place to start now that Naxx is gone.

It's a shame places like reddit can't see past their own microcosm of phony intellectualism and realize that this expansion isn't designed to cater solely to them.

This was voiced concern during standard implementation that Blizz is going to adopt this stategy. Attract as many new players as you can, milk them as much you can and dump them. Blizzdrones will stick with your game anyways.

Each expansion is different, made to serve a different purposes and meet the needs of different players. LoE, for example was a great expansion for veteran players. Lots of synergetic and complex cards that created a deeper top-tier metagame. Karazhan is not that. That's all I'm trying to get across.

Don't like it don't play it. Some people actually enjoy PvE encounters, and the vast majority of them can be brought to a good win percentage if you put thought into the deckbuilding.

If you instead go for the unicorn tactics where you think of one combo and then restart the match until you specifically get 2 innervates + nourish into wild growth in your starting hand and then proceed to topdeck a perfect 5 6 7 8 9 10 curve over the next 6 turns, then that's your choice. But don't complain if that strategy is boring.

Demonfuse can at least win you the game by buffing a minion, and Totemic Might can protect your valuable totems, like Mana Tide for example.

So despite being bad, they aren't ENTIRELY useless.
This card does NOTHING for priest, and really nothing for any other class, other than being way over cost and the only real benefit you get from the card is simply drawing and cycling the card out of your deck.

The absolute terribleness of the card just goes beyond anything else we've ever seen.

I don't like powercreep but I would prefer if each adveture gave the meta a new air for all classes, for example the new druid card enables Beast Druid to be a thing.
People may argue that it's really unbalanced or broken, they may be right, but card enables a deck that would be just a "meme" into the good usable deck tier.

Remember that not all cards have to be competitively playable. This card enables the Barnes+Silence combo deck. Sure, that deck is shit but that's not inherently a bad thing.

Every successful CCG is run by developers that understand that all sorts of players play their games. That includes the casuals. Purify is a perfectly reasonable card if you are a casual player and Blizzard shouldn't avoid printing cards for casuals just because those cards wouldn't be good in competitive play.

Purify does something. It's just that what it does isn't good.

Blizzard severely underappreciates the importance of Arena. Not even just because people like the game mode but what it does for the overall game 'experience'

Having an unfun arena meta means that more people will go to constructed. Being forced to go into constructed means burning out much faster. Not even MTG pros just do constructed all day, most magic content usually revolves around draft and sealed.

It's also why the top hearthstone personalities are arena players. They are more entertaining to watch over long periods because they aren't just playing the same deck. It would be pretty bad to dissuade your biggest personalities from playing the game or supporting the game.

I know of at least 4 out of my like 9 friends who quit the game because arena has become just too random due to it not switching over to standard. You can no longer play around cards because there are just way too many cards in wild.

Purify is not even the problem. The problem is that the game remains the same. They dont impliment tournaments in the game with some gold entry. The card pool is still too slow hindering any innovation in deck building. Most of the new cards are complete shit and uninspired and MOST OF THE GAMES ARE DECIDED BY RNG.

I just made this deck in Magic. Its really really cheap and effective. It required real thought to put all this together and the result is just so rewarding. I came in second in my lgs with a deck not even worth 30€

The Nephilim are so popular that people literally make house rules for EDH purely to allow them to be played, yet not a single one is even remotely competitively viable.

It's completely inappropriate to compare design philosophy in HS to card design in Magic.

Hearthstone CANNOT afford to have bad cards. So few are released, especially class cards. Classes get maybe 10 or so cards once a year from an expansion.

Magic gets THREE expansions of around 150-300 cards EACH within the same time as it takes Hearthstone team to fart out just over a hundred cards.

There are so few cards, whether neutral or class based, that they MUST do something useful in some context.

I just don't understand how Blizzard didn't make a 2 mana or 3 mana Priest minion, and then made another 4 mana minion. What are their playtesters doing on turn 2 and turn 3 as Priest? What minion are they playing?

All they have is Wyrmrest, Curator and Shadowfiend. The first is dragon only, the second is 0 tempo and the third is terrible and dies to a stiff breeze.

Meanwhile Priest has the most 4 mana minions of any class. Auchenai, Holy Champion, C'Thun Lady, Lightspawn, Spawn of Shadows and now Priest of the Feast.

Do they not even check each class's curve? Do they only play homebrewed jank decks against each other?

There are starter decks you can buy for around $15. I think they usually consist of two colors, and come with an additional booster or two.

I pulled Jace, Mind Sculptor from my first ever pack.

But there are also sites you can build and order decks from, and your LGS will probably have most of what you want, if a little more expensive. It all depends.

is it just me or does each individual deck you have have its own hidden MMR? it seems when i queue as hunter i get matched against zoo, when i queue as c'thun warrior i get matched against worgen every time, and when i play zoo i get matched against freeze mage

I think this is the main problem with Purify. There are no enough "decent targets for it. There are Ancient Watcher, Eerie Statue, Barnes and that is all. The rest of the potential targets are not worth it for 2 mana self silence (like Corrupted Healbot and Meat Lurker, especially meat lurker, I mean it is a new card and all but 8 mana remove 1 minion is pretty bad if you consider Priest already have Entomb and it is a dead card against half the meta right now).

The main draw of meme decks is that they are unlikely to work, but when they work, they have to provide a giant unfair advantage that will create fun that is worth trying to pull of such combo.

But except for Barnes, even if you pull of the combos you get like 4 mana 7/7 with 2 overload and 2 mana 4/5 with 2 overload. Basically similar to innvervate effect. Every current deck is equipt to handle a case like that right now, it is not new, it is not fun, and deck is borderline unplayable if you can't pull of such a combo (which will happen).

Just compare it to an another meme deck like Astral Communion Druid. Very unlikely to pull of but when you do it is ridiculously unfair advantage plus you get to play fun giant minions the meta usually doesn't allow in a regular deck.

So it's not fun, it's not useful, also it's not a new effect, it's basically a card draw slapped on a classic priest card.

So yea I'd rather play novice engineer.
