Are there any specific ways to get better in terms of reaction time beyond keep playing?

I've found that I can notice what my opponent is trying to do and then make the read fine, but I have problems from going "Oh he's going to try to grab me" in my head, which I can do, to "I need to push the buttons to tech it" and then actually pushing the buttons in time.

You just really have to play more then, your reaction to the read will get better over time. Focus exclusively on teching throws in matches over other things. You'll lose a lot of course and RIP if you play a competent Cammy player, you'll be eating those shimmies all day.

Eventually you'll be teching 90% of throws and once that is second nature you can concentrate on countering shimmies.
