Are skill speed builds viable to sustain through updates?

I'm sitting on a nice 1100 crit and 900 skill speed while retaining optimal melding(I'm not sacrificing crit or item levels for skill speed) and it's a smooth rotation with an extra GCD squeezed in thanks to my SS. But I'm starting to think about the upcoming 3.4 patch and of course that means all of my equipment will soon be obsolete. I'm fine with that part; it's the nature of gear treadmill MMOs. But there's only going to be one optimal set of gear and I highly doubt I'm going to be able to sustain my crit/skill speed without sacrificing item levels to do so.

Should I simply not bother with skill speed builds? I'd really rather not have to alternate between a 600 and 900 rotation depending entirely on what stats are available on the latest equipment.

I said the rotation is basically the same, since the only difference is using a 1-2-3 combo twice instead of one before using the other.

I'm not terribly enthusiastic about any of the classes so i'd be down for playing literally anything. The beginning of the game is slow. Painfully slow. It's a fucking chore getting through the first 30 levels or so on most classes because this was designed to be accessible to everyone including retards. A majority of the game is easy but challenging content does exist.

Tanks and healers have the best queue times in most cases. Every class is helpful in their own way. If there's one thing SE has done well it's class balance(relative to most other MMOs which have some glaring balance issues.) You'll never feel useless so long as you know how to play your class well, though certain ones are definitely better in specific situations over others.
