The problem with the game in its entirety is that it was made by extremely amateur indie devs which isn't a problem for small time garage game making but can be for a game that goes big time like PoE.

What suffered the most is the game lacks polish and by that I mean it's still missing tons of interfaces in game for stuff like races and trading. There are many instances where the game feels like it's just a bunch of ideas cobbled together rather than follow a story which leads to players feeling like they're in a lazy sandbox rather than well though out game. The fluidity of the game is poor due to getting stuck on weird obstacles while moving, animation fluidity and other little quirks. I don't like D3 of the smoothness of that game is like silk vs sandpaper.

There's too much going on now. Feature bloat. They keep adding shit but it's better to simplify and improve what's there. All the stuff like master, corrupted zones, div cards, hideouts etc. It's all too cluttered. Simple vendor recipes and a centralized map device were better they just needed to be improved.

Pub groups are really fun for many people but PoE fails again with the board being used to advertise trades and wretched performance in groups leaves many of us soloing when we'd rather not.

How do I get good at this game?

I have a level 70 Inquisitor and its hard to kill regular mobs. My main spell (arc) does only 8.5k dps with buffs and my defensive skill is a totem that summons skeletons as meat shield.

I'm watching youtube videos where level 60s-70s are killing normal cruel mobs with 1 shot.

What spells do I use that are good?

This is exactly how I felt about the game for the last 4 years. It was nice playing an experimental game during closed beta times but it's rather ridiculous at this point when so much time is put into visuals/audio and I still can't sense the direction the game is going in.

the soundtrack only has a couple decent tracks. the one that sounds like a music box i really really really like.

many of the auras and other temporary duration effects lack a discernable sound or have no sound. one of the things i liked about d2 was how good and distinct some of these things sound like conviction, battle orders or ice armor prebuffs. i have no fond memories of any sound effects in poe.

PoE is a solo game at its core. Players are encouraged to be one-man armies that can dps, be a tank, curse, have mobility, etc. You don't need a dpser, a tank, a curser, a support, a teleporter like optimal D2 groups would traditionally feature on a ladder reset. Your opinion is irrelevant, unfounded and retarded.

That's completely false. If you have a diverse group everyone can be running different duration effects all while dealing DPS and mutually benefiting each other. A well synergized group could theoretically clear far faster thus gaining more loot and EXP but the game is dominated by no life autists where the disparity in individual ability to dedicate TIME PLAYED is more important than synergy hence why you see two no life shitheads running DPS + auru bot because they can both play 20 hours per day.

What is the synergy between a generic aoe spellcaster and another generic aoe spellcaster exactly? All you're adding is more AoE vomit on the screen. Sure a group of experienced players can clear faster than a solo player, but is the game not designed to be played solo? If a flameblaster can clear at qs speed by one-shotting packs, what does being in a party provide them? The only reason to party in this game is that map rotations saves you currency. A valid point, but still not indicating the game encourages it. Most builds that can run any map mod are actually better off being solo.

Still waiting for ONE element in this game that might suggest partying is encouraged, not merely allowed.

Will Act 5 have snow?

Consider which scenario is the most likely to generate the most maps and sustain the highest map pool:

A) A group of 6 players decide to exclusively party from day 1. For the sake of the argument, let's assume they always play at the same time, for the same duration. They never play alone. Let's also assume they share a hivemind, and no time is ever wasted on deciding what or how a map should be rolled. Whatever currency found is distributed equally among 6 players. All map found are run with all 6 players.

B) A solo player is solo from day 1. They play the same amount of time per player as group mentioned above. No downtime between maps. Whatever currency found is kept 100% by the player. All maps found are run by the solo player and no one else.

Now also consider trading is here to recoup your map investments and unlucky streaks. It's much harder to do so when you have to share currency with 5 other people. The fact that sometimes players will group up to run an extremely easy map with high exp/hour doesn't change the fact they have to play solo most of the time in order to generate said map or have the currency to buy it. Hence the emphasis is put on solo play. 90% of your time spent in map is solo, because if everyone partied, there would be no way to sustain the entire playerbase.

Making a character to farm Atziri only isn't profitable anymore. After the first week her loot tanks, even in HC. As anon said it's better to make a character that can beat Atziri AND uber so you can sell runs and keep the frags.

Overall a uberlab farmer is more profitable because you find uber trials while mapping and can save the offerings for a good day. Desirable helm enchants goes for 125-150c, plus lab goodies.

People only party in this game to share the costs of rolling maps and this only happens when you're 97+ pushing ladder. Considering the average joe stops at lv90 there's no incentive to group play except few cases (sharing masters/challenges).

I've made it to maps before, I just haven't played in a long fucking time and so am rusty. I don't really want to play on standard or anything, though, so I've just been playing on HCP. kinda, SERIOUSLY fucking pissed at how easy it is to get 36 challenges

i understand that GGG has a problem with the vast majority of their players not experiencing the vast majority of content available, but dumbing the game down to appease the lowest common denominator is BAD GAME DESIGN. there is nothing left for veteran players to enjoy in the game anymore. it takes less than a week for skilled players to get 36 challenges. i just came back to the game last week, and it took me four days to reach 90 and complete 36 challenges. it's a joke. i'd like to play the game more, but what's the point? you get nothing for autistically grinding to 40 challenges.

GGG has completely abandoned their veteran HC players. it's disgraceful. they've forgotten or never realized how important a healthy competitive atmosphere is to a game. if all of the prominent HC players quit then who do people have to look up to and aspire to be? nobody. there's no prestige, no endeavor, no accomplishment. it's boring, bland, and beige.

this game seriously needs to become difficult again. it's what made it great in the first place.

but it will never happen. GGG has sold out and become slaves to their shareholders. all they care about is quarterly profit margins so it'll be nothing but short-sighted money grabs from now until the cold, bitter end

Some challenges definitely took more than 1 week to complete by yourself, for example the 200 master missions + 200 shrines one. Of course you can shortcut such challenges by getting 6 master missions in a single 820 rotation, and speed running Dried Lake for shrines. You chose the path of least resistance then call challenges unrewarding or not requiring time to complete, which is definitely untrue. Just try not to get carried by global 820 next time.
