You spend literal hours building shit up, more hours to tame shit, more hours to train that tamed shit, then more hours to level yourself up to get weapons to break into high-end bases. From which of these makes this game fun at all? I spent over 1k hours on this shit and I still feel like my time was wasted.

What little PvP I experienced went one of three ways:

You stomp your enemy completely, usually with a dinosaur and almost never with a gun.

Your enemy stomps you completely, usually with a dinosaur and almost never with a gun

You died offline and lost any progress that was made, especially those useless guns that took 2 minutes to craft and tames that took literal fucking HOURS to tame.

At least in survival games like Rust you can pick a weapon of any type back up and shoot the niggers assaulting your base or as they are trying to run back, in this game you're SOL if they go a basic weight > health > fortitude > stamina all-rounder build because flak armor negates literally fucking EVERYTHING, riot armor negates EVEN MORE as well.

Now for the creatures themselves - whats the fucking point? what is the fucking point of ANY of these dinos if one dino outperforms LITERALLY EVERYTHING in the PvP aspect?

Are you a low level? Tame every Dilo you see, enjoy a mini army to level 30.

Level 30 now? Tame a Gigantopithecus, and enjoy taking on T-rexes.

Level 35? Tame a Dire bear, now you're fine until you can get a Giganoto saddle and dominate literally everything in the game except for another Giga.

The Giganotosaurus has been an unsolved problem for too long in this game, it invalidates ALL future offensive tames and effectively will kill the game. Furthermore, with the Titanosaurus being the definitive counter (widely accepted by community) and being time-limited while still having unholy amounts of materials required to set it up, it is just a time wasting piece of shit hollow piece of "content".

This game could've been so much better.

The progression where the giga is clearly better than any land dino is dumb. But land dinos are all extremely easy to kill. Bear trap anything Rex size or above and its stuck for 11 minutes. Add turrets to a stuck dino and that thing is not gonna live past 30 seconds. Flyers are the real bullshit. I think bolas need to be buffed hard to force a tamed dino to be down for like 1 minute, that way you can murder any quetzals or ptera niggers.

the problem is that nothing in the game except gigas are properly balanced for official servers, so if you play on official servers the game is zero fun, but if you don't play on official servers every major tribe has 20 gigas

the problem is that the ark devs have failed to find a way to make something equally difficult for big tribes, small tribes and solo players. so no matter how difficult you make something it's still trivial for the alpha tribe.

personally, one of my favorite servers had no gigas allowed and it was great because gigas are stupid.

I like having speed Argents as a way to quickly carry smaller tames. Quetz out classes it for that though.

Sounds great, however theres the problem of speed between the first and second rocket, a Giga can literally just run off then come back after the first rocket hits to drain the gauge.

Completely agree, except for the aspect you won't run out of shit to do.

As long as PvP is mainly centered on level 180 pteras, gigas, and quetzals, then PvP isnt fun.

Don't get me wrong I want them to be powerful, but the problem is that they can be near unstoppable because of the leveling system in the game, that's my problem.

Unofficial servers that have their levels at around tame+120 will usually mean people will have pterodactyls that can oneshot almost everything while still being moderately tanky enough to take a few shots and run off. Servers at tame+90 have the same deal as well, pterodactyls that can oneshot almost everything, except they might have less stamina.

Using auto-turrets would work if they dont have an argentavis drop in a 100~200k health turtle to soak it all up and then proceed to destroy bases with dodo-drop C4.

That's great for being ASSAULTED, but what about when it's over and they're running back? They probably took all your polymer and obsidian and metal to make any meaningful amount of arrows + the bow. You're fucked when that happens.

depends, what environment do you live in?
keep your tames low so you don't need to house them in enormous standouts
a flyer, gathering, and combat mount is usually my pick
make friends with big tribes nearby if possible so they'll help if you're being bullied
also, being out somewhere that isnt worth raiding can be useful

Oceania is literally the only tribe I've ever seen with more than 3 turret soaking turtles. And literally if you get one of those you just pick it up with a quetzal and throw it somewhere that you can pike/bite it to death.

Quetz will land after awhile if no one is controlling it, and even then it will eventually run out of stamina. You can build a little shack on it, but when you want to log you'll have to find somewhere safe to land. So you can do a nomadic life on a Quetz if you wanted, but no sky base.
